My daughter wants to start recording her music. I have a friend who has made his own cd's using Cubase, I think, but i really don't know anything about it.
She wants to be able to record several tracks- including her voice, guitar and samples and have it NOT sound like a midi, and end up with a nice cd at the end ... I currently have a Mac (PC is down) and would like info on exactly what I need to get started. There is so much info out there it's hard to know where to start. Do I need a sound card? A program? A mike? A mixer? What type? Brand? Purchase or bootleg?
Anyone who can help me would be doing me an immense favor. Her 16th birthday is Thursday and I'd like to have something by then.

You guys fill me in when you find these drivers. Ever since those handimen on wing nine started slinggin poo poo at em and flashing them on the short busses they drove to outings at from my nursing home its been hard for us to get to the bingo parlor.

Recording with speed control

I'm looking for a simple program that can slow down some mp3 files that I have. They're from an old Billy Joel vinyl album (Cold Spring Harbour) that was mastered too fast, the recording was eventually re-edited and slowed down for re-release but they also drastically changed many of the songs. I have the tracks in my computer, I just need a program that will slow them down slightly.

I work overtime at a resturant. I should know that once you start (speeding) its hard to stop. Or cut back, on that note. Once ya pop ya can't stop. I did'nt start the fire! I am wondering if I can take a remix where the vocals have been sped up and bring those vocals back to the original speed so that I can add those vocals to the original track. In this case, the released single didnt have the 4th verse vocals of a member who was replaced. However, the remix had those vocals. What I would like to do is: slow down the remix, capture those vocals, interlace them over the instrumental version of the song, and "recreate" the track as it was originally produced. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

SAVING AS MP3 in Sound Forge

PLEASE HELP - I'm trying to save a loop. It's a wave file and I'm trimming the sound. Anyway once I get the loop I like, when I save it as MP3 file (it says it compresses) and the mp3 has a skip when I listen to the loop again. Can anyone help me how I can get a smooth loop without a "hickup"??? PLEASE.

U have to edited the loop !! or trim/crop it look on the top taskbar and find the trim tab and trim out that loop!! G L the

down the page it's explained - Because mp3 loops don’t loop smoothly. Due to the nature of the mp3 file format and compression routines, an mp3 file is compressed in chunks of 1152 bytes at a time. This leads to a very, very short bit of silence added to the beginning and end of all mp3 files.

So there you go!!

Doesn't work .... even cropping! Because We are exporting with the MP3 plugin ... it creates a mute space at start and in the end....

save as .wav in soundforge and use winamp to convert it to MP3.

A CD burner is a 'Physical Device'. It's like asking if you can record your music onto a cassette tape without needing a cassette machine.

If you have a CD burner, you should have got some software with it on a CD when you got the burner or computer. Check the box it came in.

Other than that, I have heard Nero mentioned as a Windows software solution. I use Toast on Mac OSX as it came free with one of my CD burners..
