music@passport Anastasia Font Error Message
Posted by Steve Roiland (via moderator) on Thu, 09/11/03 - 21:38:36.
When I click on the Icon to start my music@passport I get the following error message:
Anastsia font is not installed.
This could be because:
-Anastasia True Type Font not installed
-Generic Printer is selected
-Printer set to print in draft mode
I checked my printer settings and the Canon S300 printer is selected. The printer -is set to standard, not draft mode. By deductive reasoning I would assume the problem must be the Anastasia True Font is not installed, though I don't know how it became uninstalled or where to find this font to download it. PLease help. I need the info on the computer for a not for profit music program.

Hi all!
In my last e-mail I said you should move files. It is best you just copy the file; just in case you want to move your application somewhere else.
Re: music@passport Anastasia Font Error Message
Problem with "music@passport" on Window XT. I had an older computer on which music@passport worked just fine. When I transfered the application to my newer PC I was getting the problem that all the fuss is about. Reading all the reply I also asked for the fonts to be e-mailed to me. In the meanwhile, being a software person I decided to poke around until I found the solution. Here it is:
It is correct that there is not an anastasia font in DRIVE?:\WINDOWS\FONT. All the mentioned music applications must provide their own music fonts. The fonts in question are located in the application folder; in my case they are located in the music@passport folder.
I found the following fonts for music@passport:
AN.TTF for anastasia.
FRA.TTF for fretsA.
FRB.TTF for fretsB.
FRC.TTF for fretsC.
You can click on these files to verify the names.
Move any problem font to Drive?:\Windows\Fonts.
Each font will the appear in the font folder by its proper name (say anastasia). While one may need only the anastasia fonts to start the application, it will complain about the other fonts at some point.
Good luck to all of you. Bye!
Re: music@passport Anastasia Font Error Message
Een oplossing is te vinden op de volgende website:
www.ekno.com/installfonts.php.

Re: music@passport Anastasia Font Error Message
The Anastasia font is NOT included with the Passport MusicTime 16 software and is NOT an included font in either Windows 98 or Windows XP. It has to be obtained 3d party. I had it at one point (about 8 years ago) but have since lost it to an old hard drive. Does anyone know where it can be reobtained for a reasonable price? (ie: free)

Please read both Stelio Kirn replies for Steve Roiland. Good luck.
Re: music@passport Anastasia Font Error Message
I find the statement" Anastasia Font not inclusive" to be incorrect. Why would a company develop software without the proper font.
With windows 98 it works perfectly. I works great with XP until I shut down my computer. Once rebooted, the error message comes up. Now what is going on?

Re: music@passport Anastasia Font Error Message

I'm having the same problem with the Anastasia Font 'not installed'. I had a change in hard drives. When I first re-installed Encore, it worked fine. When I went back to use it the second time, I got the Anast. message error again - uninstalled and reinstalled. It was fine. Closed the program - opened it another day and the same error message! Is there any solution to this madness?
Re: music@passport Anastasia Font Error Message
: I had the same problem with the earlier version called "Music Time Deluxe". I found the font in the Windows Font file and copied it into the "Music Time Deluxe" file which solved the problem. If you don't have the font in your windows file, send me an email and I'll send you a copy of the font.

Thank. I no longer need the fonts. See Stelio Kirn replies to Steve Roiland.
Re: music@passport Anastasia Font Error Message
After my previous post I read further down my search list and found this site where you can download Anastasia for free. I have just done it and Encore now works!

I have the same problem with my Mac Version. My Anastasia has flown the coup! Help someone.
Re: music@passport Anastasia Font Error Message
Having the same problem with the Encore software. Found this explanation at gvox.com. Haven't tried it yet... where's the "fonts dialogue box?" But this looks like it should provide the answer:
The Anastasia font is the font which contains all the music notation characters. If Music Time Deluxe runs, but the score window looks like the picture above, Music Time Deluxe did not install its own Anastasia font, probably because another popular font -- also called Anastasia -- was already installed.
A similar problem is caused when Music Time Deluxe, for some reason, fails to properly add Anastasia to your system when you installed the program. This is when you get the "Anastasia Not Found" error.
Both problems have the same solution. Uninstall Music Time Deluxe. Open your fonts dialog. Delete any font called "Anastasia" or "Frets" (A, B, or C.) Reboot. Disable any and all virus protection (MacAfee, Norton, etc.) or crash-guard software (First-Aid, etc.), reinstall, and reboot. Information about disabling your virus/crash-guard programs should be included in the documentation.
If this does not work, you may have too many fonts on your system. Windows 95 and 98 purport to be able to properly handle 1000 fonts or more. That, apparently, is not entirely true. After about 300 or so, the system uses some sort of caching mechanism to ensure that the programs can run with all those fonts resident. Some still don’t Music Time Deluxe is one of them.
If Music Time Deluxe does not have direct access to the Anastasia and Frets fonts, it assumes they're not there. You'll need to either remove extra/duplicate/unneeded fonts from your system (down to around 300 is good) or use some sort of font management software that stores different font profiles. Bonus: The added benefit of removing unneeded fonts will be more system memory resources will be available for other programs, thereby improving your computer's overall performance.
