You can do this if you have a CD-RW. If you have a CD-R, forget it.

A fully parametric Eq gives you a more clinical control than a standard graphic eq.

I would prefer to use a parametric eq and watch a spectrum analysis of the source and effected material... Check out Inspector by Elemental Audio..

Might as well follow this up. I had the same error in Sonar 3 after creating my own soundfont drum patch in Vienna 2.3

The problem was in the creation of the soundfont itself. Try this in Vienna.

1. Import your samples to the "User Samples" section
2. Create a new instrument pool and assign your samples to it.
3. (the step I forgot), create a new Percussive Pool and assign your created instrument pool to it.
4. Save the soundfont and try to attach it in Cakewalk 9/Sonar/Whatever.

As im sure most of you know about the corrupted mp3's that have spread around.
It seems that most of the new/popular songs have been corrupted and seeded. Youll notice that the first 20 seconds or so of a song will sound fine, then get garbled into a screetchy sound.

This is a powerful blow from the RIAA/Record company's or whomever these corrupted files originated from. you gotta give these guys props for their effort. heh. I read if you rename one of these files to a .txt file you can see where it is corrupt. scroll down and youll see ABCDEFGLSK12323598 or something similar.

They have taken advantage of the multiple scources function of your p2p program.
They seed 1 corrupt file somewhere that is identicle to a good file. The p2p program think's its the same exact file. So you find a file/song that 10 people are sharing. 9 of the files/songs are good and that 1 file is corrupt. Well the p2p program downloads chunks from all 10 file's including the corrupted chunks. Thats why youll hear the screetchy sounds in different parts of the song.

This is only a speedbump and there are Steps in which you can take to get around this until someone developes a plugin or something to filter these corrupted files out.

Listen completely to your mp3's and delete any garbage songs. This wil minimize the spread of these corrupted files.
Also... limit the number of simultaneous downloads to 2 or so to minimize the chances of you getting part of these few corrupted files. If you dont limit the number of simultaneous downloads, your more than likely to get a hefty chunk of garbage in your song. Good luck fellaz!

What seems to be happening is that the record companies are signing on to Kazaa and then sharing corrupted versions of the file in massive numbers in order to discourage people from downloading music. There are actually a couple of techniques you can try that will help you find a "clean" version of the song:

1. Try searching for .wma versions of the file. The companies don't seem to share them in that format, but individual users who use Windows Media Player to copy their CDs do. Unfortunately, these files will be hard to find and download, but they ARE real.

2. Beware high bandwidth downloads. It's unlikely that users--even with access to dsl and or cable modems--would have that much bandwidth. Also any file that has an excessive amount of users should be avoided.

3. Properly labeled files are suspect. In my experience, the files of real users tend to be labeled in idiosyncratic ways. Artist names or album song titles can be misspelled or absent. But the fakes songs are ALWAYS include the artist name, album, and song title. Sometimes there will be all lower case letters or an 0, but those are there just to throw you are.

Basically, you just have to be persistent and patient to get the files you want. I hope this helps.

And also be careful the american legal system is cracking down on this softeware and their users, beaware that 214 million people have already been charged. around the world.

This problem has been happening with a lot of people, and not just from Kazaa. Some of them said that RIAA, has been sharing corrupted files in the network to force people to buy CDs. They said most of the 50 cents songs are like this. I didn't try. But maybe you should try to download files with less people sharing and that was ripped by another person.
