try 2 use the sound recorder..when you record the sound save it into your sample folder if this doesnt work then you need acid pro and do the same thing

You need use the sofwares what they were design for :

Recorders (sound forge), working with sound pieces track by track.

Sequencers (cubase, sonar, nuendo, protools) were made for organize pieces (mid and wav) in time ( but you can record to).

"music Box" like FruityLoops, Reason that can shot pieces in pieces using time matrix.

The problem is the fact that the softwares day by day had been added in their function and all will do all the functions

In my opinion fruity loops is a great sequencer but I wouldn't recommend it for recording , explor another program for recording your vocals , like cubae or cakewalk....

i have my turntables connected tomy PC using a 1/8 mini stereo plug into the pc's line input. when i listen to it thru the computer it sounds fine but when i record and playback there are clicks and glitches. the recording level was fine no peaking. any one?

i don't have any great advice. i found your post b/c i was searching for help with the exact same problem. i have tried upgrading both my soundcard (now running an audigy platinum) and my hard drive (now running a 7200 rpm instead of 5400 rpm). neither seemed to help. i have talked to a few computer techs who seem to think the problem might be my operating system. something about windows 95/98/me don't allow for true multitasking and can therefore cause problems. i haven't been able to try out another operating system yet, but perhaps you have access to something else. one other area is to make sure that none of the audio cables inside of your computer are laying directly on an electrical cable. i'm not sure if this would cause a problem, but i know in live audio it tends to cause hum. if you come up with a sure fire answer to this problem, please email me with the solution. i would like to know as well. have a great day. markilu

I have used a program called "Mustune" by Michael Gorodetsky before. It makes a real-time chart showing the successive pitches of a melody you play. I have tried repeatedly to download an apparently more recent version from Same Day Music, but the "page cannot be found" on the web. I suspect my old program does not work on my present computer because it cannot find my more recent sound system.

Can anyone help finding the new version (if such it is) "recogd20.exe"?

I'm not a good keyboard player but I have a chord finder so I'm doing ok for now but..I'd like know what are some of the other programs others are using with the Oxygen 8. Because now I'm using it to complement my MPC2000. But I have a thoery of two programs though tell me if I'm correct....I'd like to use BATTERY as my cpu sound bank and I'd like to run it into Vegas. I'm trying to route it but I'm a novice when it comes to CPU-based route'n. Is this possible, if not are there any other combos out there that work...I already know about Reason but I can't get it yet so please noe references to that I just don't wanna follow the norm...yet..thanx

I'd like to use my midi keyboard to control my soundcard and software synths. I've fiddled around with techno toys hubbis loopback etc. but never had anything really work. I have winxp pro and do all my musical work on finale 03.

stripping vocals from pre-recorded music

Is there any way to strip vocals from a pre-recorded track so that i am able to use just the music to record the song in a new voice? Has anyone heard of the song "Here we are my friend" off the One lIfe to Live soundtrack from about 10 years ago? I am trying to use that song as my wedding song & have it recorded with my fiance singing it, but there is no sheet music that i can find to have someone play it and record it.

Can anyone identify this very new song?

Setting up workstation

that I will be incorporating is Soundforge, Reason
2.5. The question I have for anyone out there, is, how
do I integrate my entire system so it's synched up
(Roland to my computer). What professional sound card
does anyone out there recommend that has low or zero

Tascam US-428/MacIntosh

Can anybody help me?

I have just had the hard drive in my G3 imac replaced and, as a result, have had to reinstall the software/drivers for my Tascam us-428. Although the Tascam us-428 is listed in the control panel it is no longer available as an option for sound input/output.

In the Apple System Profiler it just lists the US-428 as a class 0 USB device but doesn't name as it does with other connected devices.

As I am still using Cubase 5 I am working in macIntosh's OS 9.2 operating system

Previously I had only OS 9.2 loaded but, since replacing the hard drive, have the dual platform OSX and OS9.2. Does this generaly cause problems? I seem to remember taking OSX off before, as cubase kept crashing when it was there - even though I was starting up in OS9.2.

I would be very grateful if anyone has any suggestions as I've failed to get any help from the technical support teams at Tascam. MacIntosh or the suppliers of either machine.

Hi chris,

when you install the us 428 software and drivers, you'll get a folder with "us428 drivers" or something similar. make sure you copy these into the "ASIO drivers" folder in cubase, or it won't "see" the tascam.

once you launch cubase again, the ASIO drivers will be in the drop down box in the audio options/setup page of cubase.

if you've done that, i'm out of ideas!

It does seem odd. It might be worth downloading a program called Installer Observer. Using it whilst you reinstall the Tascam drivers (you sure your using the latest version?) and then 'removing' all traces of the install and then reinstall again.

Check it out in OSX as well to see if it comes to life in there. Worth a go.

As far as OSX being a hinderance on OS9 applications, I can't see how that can be. I have used Logic audio in OS9 for a number of years and since have been using OSX for everything else other than Logic audio. It's a matter of upgrading my Audio card and version of Logic which will be happening soon.. :)
