recommendations for imac
Hi, can anyone recomend a good FREE music editing program for my imac? I have OS 10 and the OS 9 classic environment. I downloaded Pro Tools free, and found out it won't run on my little mac. I'm done crying now and ready to move on.
Thanks
Why?
Why wont it run on your iMac?? Protools free is OS9 and previous only. It should work.
You would be better off investing in Logic Audio Big Box. It's not 'that' expensive really...
Check out Logic Audio FUN which is a free 4 track. Or, Logic audio AV which isn't that expensive.
Also consider getting yourself a USB interface from the likes of M-Audio or Edirol as it will come with some software for recording as well..

Help with Choice
I've ran Cakewalk Guitar Studio (Not Good) and an old version of CuBase (5.0) that seemed buggy. I'd like a simple system that I could import sounds into with a reliable sequencer and documentation that is in English. Earth English.
Re: Help with Choice
So are you after something that handles MIDI? Or are you just talking about sequencing samples, loops and instrumental tracks?

voice recording
Is there a program, software to record your voice onto a cd from your pc?
Thanks for your reply.
Re: voice recording
Yes. You will need a program to record the audio, a microphone and CD burning software. Oh, you'll also need a CD Burner which is built into your system.
To record the audio, try using <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Audacity/">Audacity</a>.
You'll need to plug the microphone into the IN port of your sound card and make sure your audio settings are correct. This <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q266/6/77.ASP&NoWebContent=1">article</a> will help.
CD Burning software is needed, so try <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Nero_win32/">Nero</a>. Other burning software <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/win95/CD_BURNERS/">here</a>.

How to link Reason 2.0 to VS 1880 on Mac 9.1
Midi sport 2x2 MIDI interface, Mac g-3 blue and white, Reason 2.0, Roland VS 1880.
Question:
How do I sync them together?
I ran OMS setup.
Reason recognizes the Midisport 2x2.
OMS only has the 880 listed in the set-up (but reason recognizes that too) and I believe there is a way on the 1880 to switch to the 880.
But no matter what I do I can't seem to link them, ie hit play and it starts both machines in sync.
HELP! ARGHHH! -S
Re: How to link Reason 2.0 to VS 1880 on Mac 9.1
The trick is to use MTC (midi time code). I have done this extensively with a VS880 and a multitude of programs on the Mac. Mainly Logic Audio.
Using MTC, you will need to make one device the MTC master and the other the MTC slave. I don't know Reason well enough to know it's preferences menus though. If I were you, I would have a route through until you find some sort of Midi Sync page. Make sure that Reason transmits MTC with a frame rate of 30fps (which I think is the VS's default). If the VS is the same in MTC operation as the VS880, then go to the SYNC/TEMPO page, locate MTC and set it to EXT (external) and check the FPS settings. Press play on the VS (with a song loaded) and the play button should flash.
Go back to your already configured Reason and press play. Make sure the MTC information is being sent out the correct 2 x 2 port and the VS should start, at the same position and tempo as Reason.
Get back to me if it doesn't work. Once you've figured it out once, you'll always remember how to set it up with any Midi program on your Mac.
Native Instruments Help - Reaktor, Battery and Kontakt
HI everyone,
Im fairly new to using music software - I mainly use Fruityloops 3.4 and Reason 2, and although I can import FM7 and Absynth as plugins in Fruityloops, I dont have a clue as to how to use Reaktor, Battery and Kontakt, or what they do or anything! If anyone has any manuals or any advice to give a novice, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
