If you think you can just have the vocals and not the music IF the music is playing at the same time as the vocals, then you are out of luck.

The only way around this I can think is to assess the actual footage and work out if it's 5:1 or 7:1 surround sound. If so, the dialogue is often in the center speaker therefore you could just record the center speakers output with a mic.

It's a difficult question. Basically, they're both just good 4 different things.
I have both a portable Mp3 player, and a Minidisc player. I use the Minidisc mainly for sampling, i.e. just recording bits and bobs when I'm out and about, as its like a small v.good quality tape recorder. Mp3s are mainly for sharing/downloading from the web. The're usually noticeably worse in quality than music recorded on a MiniDisc (which is about the same quality as a CD but are much smaller than standard audio files (1 track ripped straight from a CD = about 60 megabytes = loong download time!/ 1 track standard quality MP3 = about 4 megabytes = pretty quick to download!) So I'd have to say Mp3 for the internet, Minidisc for recording good quality sound on the move...
Also, I think some of the new generation of Minidisc players come with specific software for putting MP3 onto Minidisc, so if you get one of these, you can fit many albums worth of material onto a single Minidisc!(at lower quality)

Do you mean the channels in the Step Sequencer?

Cos if you have just installed Fruity, you might need to install the codec it needs for .wav files (Start Menu>Programs>FLStudio4>Advanced>Install VorbisACM)

Also, if you save a Fruity project, then delete or move the sound files, Fruity will not be able to find the files next time you load that project, and they'll just appear shown in red. This can be avoided by keeping all samples in one place (e.g. C:/Audio). Alternatively you can save your project as a zip file. This wraps up all the sound files with the project into one zip file. Noticeably bigger than a .flp file, but useful if you are always deleting/moving things around.
