If you live in a country whith Fair Use copyright
provisions allow you to copy (ie you can't copy to
redistribute or give public performances) the you can
use <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/TotalRecorder/">Total Recorder</a>.

I Know one machine to run my 4000 sounfonts...

This is Fruity Loops 3.4 or better.
And install the plugin for fruity loop 'soundfont player'. It's ultra-easy to learn.

Filtering out background noise

I have mp3's with voice audio and alot of music and noise in the background so the voices are not too clear. Is there any software for sale that can possibly help filter
out the background voices and music? Thanks.

The answer is no.

You want to remove some voices but leave other voices
there - there is no software that can do this with an
automatic process. It's a bit like trying to take a
cake and turn it back into it's pre-cooked ingredients.

There are <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/cgi/htdig/htsearch.cgi?method=and&format=builtin-long&config=htdig&restrict=%2Fsmm%2Fprograms%2F&exclude=&words=noise+reduction" target="noise">noise reduction</a> programs and plug-ins but
these are designed to remove noise caused by recording
equipment.

Sorry - an expert audio engineer might be able to help
a little but you're making even more difficult by using
MP3 files wich are compressed and have removed much of
the original data that would have made the job more easy
for an engineer - but that still wouldn't have been
perfect anyway.

DONT EVENT BOTHER ANYONE. what you put in is what you get out. you should record again and make sure your levels are healthy with ONLY the sound you wanted recorded. Jason is totaly right.

What is the process?:

When you try to take unwanted sound away from another, what your really doing is removeing a range of freqs. thats y you can never get vocals to be pure with out its background music. Some instruments share the same freq. range as the human voice.---the answer is start over again:(

Hello Emily,

The best way to start is to..... well.... start.

I would suggest you have a look a the Mac multitrack
recording programs on this site located at

You can read about their features and download them.

I would suggest starting with <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/ProTools_mac/" target="ptf">Pro Tools FREE</a>

Then you might also like to try out Jasmine or Sound
Sculptor.

Let us know how you go.

Nero Wave Ed. will not record my MDs, why?

I want to record an MD to CD using Nero Wave Editor
but it does seem to work.

I can play and hear my MD recording playing through
my PC speakers after connecting it and it sound fine.
But as soon as I press record on the Recording
Console of Nero Wave Editor the sound dies. In fact
it is impossible for me to register any input volumn
on the recording console at all apart from just a
very little amount of background noise.

As soon as I cancel the recording and close the
recording console I can hear the MD coming back
through the speakers loud and clear.

Help!

burning cdgs'

Hi my name is Darlene ,and thank you for your time.I just resently received a wonderful gift (kereoke machine).It plays kereoke cassettes(which will no longer will be available in the next few years .)The business is definly gearing more towards cdgs so cassettes will soon be absolete.My kereoke also supports cdgs'.They are very expensive and I don't have extra funds to purchase them.I have been very ill over the past few years and im a single mom of two living on my small disability.my health is improving now and I am considering getting back into the business ,which I totally ran on the cassette system alone 10 yrs ago.I have been told that I can burn kereoke music from the kazaa or mopheus etc sites. I have a nero cd burner so I can burn kereoke cds and I have but not with the words,which is absolutely no good to me for a public show.Most people need to see and follow the word guide.Another problem I have is im computer illiterate ,which doesnt help.I've been told evrything I need is free on line but I just dont know what im looking for to download and if I can ever get this figured out then it would make more sence for me to purchase what I need when I get out there and start making money.Any advice ? what is the first thing I need to do ,download, purchase ,whatever ,I just need direction. I just read your freeware site and I can not find anything on cdgs.I hope I have not asked too much or broken any legal rules.thank you so much for even taking the time to read this email.

WIndows Media Player 9, linking album tiwh mp3

Windows Media Player 9 is really an awesome program. It recognizes my mp3 (that I have placed in different
Dyrectories named this way: "Artist/band name - Album
name"), downloads lots of information about the artist and the album. But this mechanism is not so perfect:
sometimes Media Player cannot find the album related to the mp3 altought I can find it on Media Player - AMG web syte. Is there a way to do this manually?

You need to first record your cassette tracks as .WAV
files on your computer, and then burn a CD from those
.WAV files.

The first step is to plug the 'Line Out' of your cassette
player to the 'Line In' on your PC soundcard.

Then you play the cassette while recording on your PC

Thanks Keith,

BTW the new spam filter has successfully blocked over
12 spam posts since the weekend and only let one through
which we quickly discovered and removed.

Our next project will be to protect people who post to
this board from having their email addresses collected
by spammers and provide a safe messaging system to send
and receive private messages.

Might take a few weeks to have this up and running but
we already have the basic system designed.

single muvo unit? Seems to me like a large capacity solid-state mp3
player could be made using a cheap (~70$ on half.com) 64 mb model, and
voiding the warrenty with a few 128 or 256 sticks of your own...

i'm looking for a sampler which can give for every key, any sample... ex:
i've got an midi keyboard and it's connected to pc. then i want to play
samples on evry key other one.
on c4 - c4.wav, on d4 - something.wav etc.
i've got sb16 soundcard
