Mixing software with microphone input

Hi,

I'm looking for a piece of software to mix tracks and have a voiceover via a mic input. I'm only making a cd for a friend so it doesn't need to be fancy, although I would like to be able to pre-record samples for use too. I love the simplicity of AtomixMp3 but it doesn't allow mic in. I thought it would be a fairly easy thing to get, but i'm having trouble.

My friend,

Cool Edit Pro is finished and the new name is Adobe Audition 1.5 cause Adobe bought it.Is better then Cool Edit and you can burn CD's too.
Pick up the trial version to test it.

I could actually use some assistance as well with Cool Edit. I've been using it for some basic editing for a couple years but have run into a couple problems.

1) I records DJ Mixes. How do I seperate the tracks so that once burned to CD it isn't just 1 72 min song.... I'm thinking if you set the parameters in Cue list, then move them to play list that might do it but not sure....

Also, as I've been trying to do this I wonder, wow accurate do the margins have to be. for example, track 1 ends at 5 min 4.823 sec. Does track 2 have to start at 5 min 4.823 sec or 4.824 sec or does it matter. Will it have an adverse effect if I am a couple millaseconds off in either direction.

2) Will I need to burn right from Cool edit or can I then burn form a different program and still have the tracks seperated? At one time when I was trying to burn from Cool Edit it kept saying it did not recognize my drive as an option.

Well, up until recently my cool edit has had no problems but all of a sudden my noise reduction doesn't work properly....It use to remove the static from my microphone no problem an leave the vocals clear sounding...now it replaces the static with this weird light ringing type of sound<---best I could describe sound...an I was wondering if u had any suggestions as to how I can get the clarity back on my noise reduction it use to have?

Hey I'm having trouble w/ the mixing, making my audio sound clearer and more professional. What i do after i get done recording now is, a reverb-vocal-nice presence, fft filter-kill the mic rumble, graphic equalizer-spit clear, parametric equil-sho-down's studio voice, and finally a noise reduction-hiss reduction. I also wanna figure out how to add special effects like other lil intro songs or clips from other places and stick them in cool edit pro. Thanks a bunch,

Sending a song in without them knowing you is probably a fast way to not get noticed. You're probably better off performing and getting a name for yourself first.

Conversion of Minidisk voice recordings to Word files

I want to convert Minidisk voice recordings to Word files on my PC without listening and typing. There is voice recognition software like Dragon or IBM Viavoice which can convert the DSS format of dictating equipment like Olympus to Word files. But how can I convert my Minidisk recordings to the DSS format, which is like MP3 a compression format, but only for voice and therefore with reduced frequencies, so that I could use such a voice recognition software?

Question about free sample of ProTools

I downloaded a free sample of ProTools for my mac and each time i begin the progam it says, "Mac version of protools free does not support digidesign hardware. Use "built-in" for input and output in the sound control panel."
Is the sound control panel located in system preferences. And if so, i still can't hear the beats after i click on "built-in" for input and out

I think it is talking about your play control from your speaker icon. Double click your speaker icon and go to options and click on properties. Let me know if that does it. Good Luck!

Unfortunately the person that posted the original message said that you had to go to their website in order to get a response from them.

If you're a singer/songwriter and you want to seriously make this a career you should get started now. I just answered a post from someone looking for agents and managers and I advised them to do the same thing. Remember you're on the Internet. It's almost better than going to a library whereas you can be working on your career by just being in front of your computer.

You mentioned that you have written some songs. Have you copyrighted them? There is so much that you need to know and so much that you can (and should) be doing now. Do you know that on my homepage there is music that plays while my page is downloading? There is also an additional music file on my page that plays only when someone clicks on it. Now just think about that. People are listening to my page's music 24 hours a day, seven days a week - even while I'm sleeping! You could do the same thing by putting your music on your own webpage. However I would advise that you don't put the WHOLE song on your webpage - you don't someone else to steal it and take credit for it.

Some songwriters have their work listed so that artists that are looking for songs just go there to find new material. Since you are also a songwriter you are going to have to acquaint yourself with royalties. You don't want to get taken advantage of when the subject of royalties come up. If you're really serious about wantiing to do this as a career then its time that you start taking it seriously!

There are listings, directories and resources all over the Internet and you should be getting all of this information and making plans for your career. The sooner you get started the sooner you can start.

new to this whole computer downloading music thing. i have downloaded over 600 songs from itunes. i was told that i can burn a song from itunes to disc as many times as i want [legallity aside]. i was then told that songs downloaded form naptser 2.0 could only be burned to a disc no more than 3 times. is this true. i have been avoiding napter 2.0 downloads because of this. not looking to burn mega copies. i have a dj business involving 2 seperate systems and i wanted to have copies of my music for each system and a couple back up copies.
