The format would be something like this
AT is the hayes ATtention symbol telling something is coming.
+CG tells it's about GRPS.

: AT+CGATT=1<cr>

ATT tells the device to attach to the GPRS network.
This will bind your device to the network, but there is no connection yet.

: AT+CGDCONT=1, "IP", “airtelgprs.com”<cr>

DCONT (don't know what the abbreviation stands for) it tells youn will connect thru IP and your "gateway" is airtelgprs.com.
There can be 10 of these settings active but usually there is only 1 activated,
The first character after the equal to sign (=) tell which set of parameter you are setting.
Some devices remeber this setting even if there is no power to the device, others need to be reset after power up.
This also means you don't need to do this setting each time you want to connect, as long as the device is powered.
The can be at least one more string, and 2 numeric parameters in this set, but i haven't seen these used yet.

: AT+CGACT=1<cr>

I saw the ACT command but don't know what it does yet.
These commands do nothing about authentication.

help! Bit Rate changed to zero?

I was in the processing of burning a CD with a mix of MP3's, when it seemed at some point the bit rate for the songs I was burning changed to zero. The file size is still set at 3/4 MB etc, but Winamp, WMP, etc etc Can't see the song to play or tells me it's in a wrong format or not a music file etc.

What I would like to know is how can I reset the Bit Rate to something acceptable?

Voice software search

Has anybody run across some vocal pitch acuity software that is more advanced than the VIMA Singing Tutor? I am hoping to find software to help train some singers who have pitch problems. The VIMAS is good but only graphs single pitches. I suspect that software exists that will give a series of pitches that the singers then sings and can visually see his/her results.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I thought I would start a new discussion on Roger Troutman and his unique talk box sound. I know a few of his fans who want to learn to talk box come to this forum sometimes and who also want to know what that sound really is he's pushing out his talk box is too. So, perhaps we can get a good, clean discussion going about his synthesized sounds and pass on some good information on it to better your sound and playing.

Let's start with a few questions some of you might have answers for.

1. Well for some, we know Roger used a Minimoog Synth with his talk box in his earlier career before moving on to the toy-like "sometimes hard to program" Yamaha Dx100. Now here is the $1 million dollar question: In Banks A-B-C and D, which sound patch did he really use to re-create the sound he once had on his Minimoog with on the Dx100? Some have said on here, Hard Brass, Muted Trumpet, Fm Pulse and Fm Sawtooth.

What do you say it is? What's the "real truth" behind this unique sound?

Let's hear your thoughts on this topic and why you think this sound is so funky and even look at as a guarded secret.

high quality as in composition quality, or as in sound quality? There is alot you can do with MIDI, but the best for that probably don't give you the sound uality, unless your sound card/module lets you load soundfonts with its software. So I would suggest that you not rely on just one software product to make music
