How to match drums to human played music

I just recently got a copy of reason 2.5. When I use the program, I get a message stating bad format whenever I try and go into the Factory Sound Bank. I don't get this with the Orkester Sound Bank. I have also installed this on my desktop, and it recognizes both banks fine. The computer I am having a problem with is a laptop. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to remedy this particular pickle??

audio levels in final mixdown

anyone got any tips as regards setting the playback levels of the audio tracks when approaching the mixdown. for example, i once read that one starts with the kick drum at -10 db and then set your other tracks from there. The problem is that i find the mix way too quiet and the instruments tend to lose their personality and lack punch. please help. ( and yes, i do have overall compression on the master track etc..)

One way I know is to open the mpeg in virtualdub (free) and you can extract the audio using that.

notation software with the "vertical" note pre-hear

Hi!
I am looking for notation software for aranging pruposes whitch has this feature:

in the score with more instrunemts i could hear notes (in all systems) whitch are verticaly on the same position with the note i am CLICKEING on in one system.

just like in the "melodyne" from celemony but on the MIDI-level.

Currently i am useing two "state of the art" programms (Sibelius and Finale) but both of them couldn't do that. i have to use playback function with a very slow tempo to realize a similar effect but it disturb my "workflow" and doesn't satisfied me.

I'm a film producer and I work with the latest Mac G5, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, and I want advise on what type of software is available to take my original stereo tracks, music, narration, and original sound and convert it to dolby 5.1 for a surround sound experience for DVD home distribution output.

Converting Quicktime Files to MP3

I am wondering how I can convert quicktime files to MP3? Everytime I download an MP3, it turns into a quicktime file. Is there a way I can get it to download as an MP3 permanently?

You say you download an MP3 and then it gets converted to QTime. That's not the case. QT is probably the default program to play MP3 on your system. Try opening the MP3 using a different audio player. I'm sure the MP3 will play.

It sounds more like Quicktime has decided that it's going to be the program to play your MP3 file. Try changing the <a href="http://www.md4pc.com/questions/40.htm">file association</a>.

making a acapella

i've heard that there is a program that allows you to create an acapella aslong as you have the orginal song and the instrumental. As it uses the instrumental to allow you to remove the instrumental from the orginal song leaving you with just the vocals. Has any one heard the same? And if so, what is the Program? And how is it done? thanks.

Both of these processes are fraught with a bit of hit and miss. The vocals have to be mixed in the centre for easy removal, for a start. I'm not aware of any program that does both, but programs such as YoGen Vocal Remover will remove the bulk of vocals. You will find some more tips next to where you posted you message in the main discussion forum page.

Removing clicks&pops well & cheaply

I currently use Wave Studio (Creative), Gold Wave, and Wave Repair to remove clicks and pops from WAV files. Only Wave Repair in manual mode seems to to this well, but takes a lot of time (12 hours for 3 minutes of sound). Is there something cheap (less the $30) which will do it. Also, these seem to remove hiss -- but only at the expense of high frequency music. Is there something which will remove hiss cheaply (less than $30)

You can try 2 shareware programs: Wave Mechanic and DePopper ($ 39 and $18, respectively). You can search for their download sites or look up in www.hitsquad.com
Both take much, much less than 12 hours for 3 minutes of music.

You have a Mac or a Windoz machine?

If your midi keyboards have audio outputs and create sounds of their own then I would look at a combination of hardware and software. Sometimes you get some recording software bundled in with the hardware.

Check out M-Audio. RME-Audio. Edirol. Creamware. MOTU... etc...

I have windows XP, and my keyboards are: Korg Triton and Roland RD600

Depending on your budget, I would check out something like a M-Audio Delta 44. They are way cheaper than they were even a year ago. I believe they have midi and 4 ins and outs which means you could plug in both your keys at the same time in stereo. Something bigger? Then check out the Delta 1010 LT (or full version).

You should get some software with your purchase as well. The rest is a matter of understanding how a midi chain works as well as how to route audio into the software and XP. I use Mac OSX and previous only these days as I need a machine that can also use the internet without threat..

Pro tools Digi 002

I have purchased a Digi 002 in the USA which I will be using in Europe. Do I need to get a converter in order to change the voltage for Europe or will the Digi 002 work in either location without a converter. It says on the back that it covers 110 - 250 volts which would lead me to believe that it will work in either area. Any advise?

If it claims that it works through those voltages then it's almost certainly going to work here..

It's not uncommon to fit self sensing transformers in to hardware these days. Some companies have been doing it for years.. namely Razor companies etc.. ;o)

Hi! My name is Nicole, and I love to sing! Singing is my #1 compassion in life and it has been since i was way younger. I am 12 years old and live in small town in the suburbs of chicago, Illinois. My dream in life is to become a singer. I've only dreamed about it but now im ready to make it happen i just need some advice. i practice singing and dancing every single day for about 4 hours. The people in my town even call me the Britney Spears of Huntley (my home towm). I have a very good voice for singing pop or any other genre and am good at dancing. i am in choir and have been in many dance classes. I just really need some advice on how to get discovered. I've waited so long and i feel like its time to step up and make my dreams happen. I would like to know where i should go? or what i have to do. Please help me out. it would mean so much!
