I am a musician programming music using CubaseSX and a Halion sampler. But i am not satisfied with the output and worried over the time it takes.
Further the sample sound do not match the quality of the output of a hardware sampler like EMU.

I'm just learning how to do music on the computer. What I'm not sure about is how do you master the music you have created, and what software program is best for this type of application. At this present time I have reason software. Yes! for your information cost is a concern.

If you don't know what you are doing with mastering, you would be advise to meddle a little with a multiband compressor and a decent set of parametric Eq's.

It's not something you press a button on a program and it's mastered. Mastering is a dark art and needs lots of experience and more importantly (than almost anything) a very well balanced set of monitors in a controlled environment.

MMJB Sound Card Problems

Apparently I deleted vital sound card files when deleting healed virus files. I have players and drivers re-installed, but apparently the computer doesn't recognize there is a player due to problems with the sound card.. MMJB is just one of the sound card errors that keeps cropping up. HOW can I get that back without reinstalling windows in it's entirety?

I try to play music and it will say i have no sound device that i got to install it or it will say sound card problem.

I had to wipe my computer clean and start over. I have gotten everything but the sound card (MMJB) to work. I am running windows ME. I have loaded and reloaded it with no effect. I cannot find any direct software for it. When I try to play anything all I get is Format not supported. What do I need to do to fix it? Thanks

Second Request For Assistance

Downloading tracks from BR-1180 to PC

I have a Boss BR-1180 which I use to record my own music. I also own a PC with Windows XP & CD burning facility. I want to download the songs from BR-1180 onto computer & then burn onto CD. Problem is I am a bit of a cack-handed technophobe! Two questions therefore:

1)How do I connect BR-1180 to a PC & be able to listen to it's sound output?
2)How do you then download the tracks & burn onto a CD?

Any suggestions that won't cost me an arm & leg would gratefully accepted. Many thanks!

Make sure your start and finish clock #s start before and end after your song. Make sure you export in mp3

Wavelab 3 converting files .mon to .wav

I am trying to convert files from .mon to .wav in Wavelab 3 so I can put them on a cd. There does not seem to be an obvious way to this in the sofware. Can anyone help me?

If your still trying to do this. You need to click on the "render as" button which is the to the functions button at the top of your audio montage.

Connecting a Digi 002 to Focusrite Octopre

I do some ADAT syncing from time to time and sometimes the master sync device doesn't want to play. Try giving the reponsibility to the other machine to see if that's the problem.

Make sure you have your ADAT connectors attached the right way around. This is easy as any ADAT devices output glows with a red laser coloured light..

Try Taking a stereo phono cable from your cassette deck outputs and connect other end of cable to your auxilary inputs on you soundcard or if its a recordable cd player connect to the cd inputs

mastering is the 'Dark Art". Whatever you read on mastering is usually subjective..

Do your self a favour and buy 'Bob Katz" book on mastering audio.. Money well spent.. !!

dj mixes onto cdr

I'm trying to find a programme/s which i can use to record and store a dj mix, then track mark ie.seperate tracks without any gaps which a cd player can recognise.I then want to be able to burn this mix with minimum fuss.At the moment i've tried to get sonic sound forge and cd architect(too expensive).I'm running win 98 just now-updating in six months or so.Also in UK if that matters.Cheers.Scott.
