tweaking a mac G4 for better recording performance?

I have the g4 1.25 dual processor, 256 ram.

i know 32bit is so much better than 16bit & i'd love 32bit to be my default, problem is...my mac g4 seem to be lacking response. many pops, hell...one pop is too many. is there some kind of necessary tweaking that needs to go into my system so that it runs stellar as a dedicated music recording DAW? or do you think adding more RAM would remedy the situation? i just dont think that more RAM would help since i was only doing 5 tracks simultaniously @ 32bit 44.1khz. then again...what do i know!

Ehi dude are you NUTS????
You need at least 768 or better 1000 MB RAM to run any DAW!
I have the exaclty same computer and i run Logic 6 with 64 soft instruments, tons of altiverb, while i surf internet, and burn DVDs at the same time with PERFECT PERFORMANCE!

Mac OSX Help!

i'm a new Mac user and I can't find any software that i used to create drum loops (which was fruity loops) and to record guitar and vocals (i used DDClip, which was free and easy to use and mix too).

anyone have any tip for similar softwares for Mac OSX?

It's hard to know where to start you off.

You could check out 'Reason', Live (from Ableton), the EXS24 sampler (for AU and VST under MacOs or within Logic audio). Soundtrack from Apple (which is an ACID style program).

None of the above are that cheap. There are probably tons of applications I am not familiar with though... Check out Version Tracker. OSXAudio.com. etc etc...

Try converting the MIDI to WAV and then to MP3.

all you need to do is if you are using a software like logic 5 runing the sequence to the keyboard
or keboard running sequence by it self all you need todo is connect a jack from the KeyB into your sound card and record into one of logic audio tracks or use logic with internal seguence with roland svst sound canvas or with logic internal sampler as audio instrument(you will need to have smple sound on cd or in hard drive tro use sampler) if mixing internaly select song lenth in the audio mixer just press bounce on the out put fader recard to audio
to converet to mp3 with any wav to mp3 converter
you can also record direct to mp3 from your kB with program that allow you to
you may able to one at www.download.com

data becker 2.29

I am having a few problems with an old data becker programme, firstly everything i record is saved, even takes i delete and dont end up using,so i have ended up with hundreds of un-named wav files that i have to delete. secondly once i have finished recording my song is save as a seq file but it saves in winamp format but winamp wont support seq files. my aim is to convert my seq files to mp3 for burning but a seq to mp3 converter wont read the seq files.its really annoying!! any help at all would be much appreciated.

well i wish ya luck, i've been trying to find any kind of web based support for the last 6 months,, how the hell can they sell a product, and then not support it,, i want my money back !!!!!!!!!!! what a ripp off, i'm using music centre pro, and jsut can't get it to work right, audio tracks just keep going out of thime,, like there longer,, slower tempo,, this is driving me insane,if there is anyone out there that can point towards a phone number even,, i'd love to hear what there so called sales support have to say abut there lack of support for a so called industry standard package of software,, looks great,sounds great,, can i get help to get it to work like t says it does on the box,,hell no !!!! i think i'll be better off just buying something that gives support tooooooo,, do ya know what people, my advice is bin this data becker shite, and but a better supported product, later all :D

Converting stave music to chords

Alright mate? I noticed you have an SP-303, but no manual. I dont have a manual either! But I thought you might be able to help me out here... I havent got aa SmartMedia reader writer for my PC yet. So I was wondering how can i fully utilise the memory on the SM card, instead of just having 16 samples on it? All this by just using the sampler and not the PC. It would be much appreciated if u could help me out.

getting sound from midi out

My problem is that i cannot get any sound from the midi out when i play the keyboard. The only way that sound can be acheived is by playing the track back once it has been recorded, which is pretty usless as i cannot hear what is being played. The only other way that sound can be heard is by using the Brother Gregory option in the VST instuments. As i am only familar with logic on a Mac i am completely lost.

It looks like you have to enable Local On in your synth. The keyboard of the synth currently doesn't trigger the sound engine. Midi-info from outside the synth (from your sequencer) DOES triggger the sound engine. So midi = ok, sound engine = ok, so it must be the lin between the keyboard and the engine

How to sync K-station to Acid pro 4.0?

Trying to sync the arpg. on my K-station to the beats in my Acid Pro 4.0. Set K-station according to manual for external midi clock, but don't know how to get Acid to generate midi clock to K-station. Anybody know? I don't have the strongest understanding of midi.

On a PC, I'm using;

-SB Live soundcard with one midi in/one midi out- connected to midi in and midi out of K-station (not the midi thru on the k-station.

Simultaneous recording/playback

hey there. I just upgraded from a SBlive sound card to a Audiophile Usb. Iam running Windows ME and with the SBLive card i was able to play music through fruityloops and record using Soundforge. With the Audiophile iam finding i cant do this, although i've been told it's probably possible.

any suggestions?

ME was a crappy attempt of trying to make Windows 98 more reliable and user friendly. I know loads of people that got rid of it soon after they installed it. I'm not saying this IS your problem though...

Check with the Audiophile drivers and see if there is an issue with ME and USB audio interfaces...

Digital Performer 4.0 & Protools

Hi,

I'm a PC guy and I don't have a lot of experience
with MIDI but I'm taking a couple of courses now and were' using Mac. One is a Midi class where we use DP 4.0 and the other is a Protools class.

I'm having trouble learning how to use Digital Performer with the MIDI setup. We're using a JV-1080
sound module.

What might be a good way to figure out how to get this stuff to really work. How can I get a grip of the basics of DP...any on-line manuals, etc.
Any magazines that guide you through the basics.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I have brushed past Digital Performer although I am soo used to Logic audio, that I don't think my brain could handle the change. It's an awesome looking application though.

I bought a complimentary book on Logic audio as the original manual doesn't cover everything in the way it should be learnt. DP probably has a couple of related user books. Maybe even a DVD/Video...

After installing BLUBSTER on my computer, I realised what a big mistake I made. Upon trying to uninstall, I found that I had to delete from my registry to remove it from windows. HOWEVER, I still cannot remove the damn icon from my taskbar, and it STILL tries to load on setup. Any ideas on how to get rid of it totally?

SAME PROBLEM: I CAN'T GET RID OF IT AND I HAVE ADWAR ON MY COMPUTER. HELP!!!
