Recording levels on SBlive
Hi, im having problems recording from a line in source to .WAV on my sblive. If i set my source for 0db output, what would be the appropriate Master, Line in, Bass, and Trebble levels to record a cd-burnable .wav. IT seems like i really have to over adjust my input levels till its distorted..
Re: Recording levels on SBlive
Set the mixer level (full)
Bass & Treble (middle)
Use Sblive RECORDER & set the MONITOR On.
Run the wave file once.Enable ARVL(Auto Recording Volume Limiter)to automaticlly keep down the recording level when it exceeds the maximum level.
This prevents Distortions.

(not going to buy more hardware).
and another one, give me name suggestions!!! english name... but doesnt have to mean anything =))

Converting Amiga DMCS to Cakewalk Home Studio 9
I have my Amiga 500 (with Deluxe Music Construction Set) hooked up to my Windows PC, Cakewalk HS 9 is receiving the music but is not receiving time changes/tempo changes so the music is all of whack with the measures.
If I could erase the rests I could at least drag notes to their proper place, all this for being able to add drum beats that are on time.
The Cakewalk tech said I need to upgrade and get CW Pro or something else. I think they just want my money. Does anyone have a free plug in or small program that can read all the changes Amiga/DMCS does and convert it so I can use it in CW HS9?
Any help is appreciated.
GOD bless, Alan

COLLABORATION???
i am looking to collaborate on a acid based project. my idea is to supply the drum & rhythm and structure the song, and float it out for bass, guitar, vocals to be added and sent back. this is for fun and not commercial, might be interesting to see what develops.
Re: COLLABORATION???
If you're serious, I'm interested. I'm a trained bassist w/ some piano & guitar thrown in.

Re: COLLABORATION???
Have any of you considered joining the Rocket network (www.rocketnetwork.com)?
This is a site of virtual recording studios with software specially designed for music collaboration on the net. It is free to join with a free download of Emagic's Logic Rocket. Not only can you send and receive tracks and updates in real time, but you can also talk to each other in real time via rocket control. There are several public studios, but if you want to collaborate on a private project you can rent your own studio from $30. I'm on there a lot! Its great! I'm currently getting a few people together to collaborate on a rocket users album to release on MP3.com. Join, and you all could be part of it!

it is absolutely loaded with difficulties, but i think it will be fun, and who knows.....
i sort of thought of it like a serial novel with each chapter by a different writer - everyone will bring a different perspective to the project but it will be like playing chess by mail - you don't have instant feedback like in the studio and you never meet your "bandmates." plus criticism of your idea is easier to accept from a distance.
as far as the dumpsite goes, please explain how i would create one?? kind of new to this.

You could go to x-drive.com and sign up for an account. Then you e-mail everyone the user name and password so we can all access the files you put there.
There should be an order......you first...then when you got the team you want....place us in order.....sounds really good fun.

: I HAVE SEVERAL PROFESSIONAL EDITING PROGRAMS, I ALSO HAVE FRUITY LOOPS. GREAT FOR CREATING DRUMS AND BASSES, AND MUCH MORE!! WHERE YOU LIVE???
i live in waterloo, ontario, canada (1 hr sw of toronto). i am not a professional but i did have a record contract years ago. i learned on analog equipment but i have no time or space or $$$ to build a studio. i discovered acid (the software) and realized that i could do this as a hobby.
my idea is like playing chess by mail - i submit my idea to you, you add what you like, send it on to me or someone else and we work a finished piece until it's satisfactory. we can exchange comments by e-mail, and get a better sense as we go of how it can work, fly by the seat of our pants so to speak.
i have acid pro 2.0 and vegas pro 2.0 as well as cd architect and sound forge. plus others.
i think i understand the freedrive, but how would we go about setting this up?? i am kind of new to this.
i also think some ground rules are kind of interesting - no real names, no gender, no age, just throw your talents and skills into the pool.
as far a music style, i don't care too much, fusion of what you like & what i like & see what happens.
i can e-mail you a very rough mix of a rhythm to build on if you like, .wav file.
let me know.
Re: Sounds kool
I suggest you start an acid file, like you said, you do a bit of drum n bass, maybe a melody, and then pass it on to me...
will every1 whos included have acid??
For the freedrive, give us all the username and password, so we can access it. Its like our own shared Hard Drive.

i am using acid pro 2.0 and vegas pro 2.0 mostly. i like vegas for final mixes. i make my own loops, get them online, and pull them from cd's or cassettes if i like them. i will send you a .wav of a rough mix if you like.
open to all musical styles, but i like BIG guitar sounds. i live in waterloo, ontario (sw of toronto about 1 hr.)
i think that who would do what should solve itself - just fire things back and forth and add to it what your strength is. i used to be a professional but now i am a suit so this is a hobby for me. i learned on analog equipment but i don't have the space or $$$ to build a studio.
explain this freedrive thing, how does that work?

Am new in this field and I wish to obtain information on the proper way to get started. I don t mind starting at the beginning. What is computer music ? how is it different and produced? what one should know in order to minimize the number wrong turns unnecessary purchases of software you really don t need or can presently use due to lack of sufficient knowledge. Gamut98v1.56
Could anybody give me some pointers regarding Gamut98v1.56 software I have. I tried the website but no avail. Thank you!
Re: Gamut98v1.56
I've got this software tool too but what do u need to know B? It's quite easy to use - let the arrow linger over a button and a small description or direction will come up.
Let me know if u have any specific questions OK?
steve
What do I need?
Somebody help me!!!!!!
I need to know exactly what I need to play my guitar thru my computer
and I want to eventually record on to Cd. I know I need a burner, and specific software
any recommendations about software.
Thanx
Butch
a 'sequencer'
Basically all u need is a 'sequencer' (a virtual multi track recorder/studio) Butch. There are many around so try the demos available from this site or try www.sonicspot.com for a well presented database/download area. 'Cakewalk Audio 9' is a favourite of guitar based bands I think but they all do just about the same. U also need a soundcard OK? Finally any CD burner u buy will come with appropriate burning software. TIP - for glitch free audio playback on a PC u need plenty or RAM. 64 maybe but 96MB or more is optimal.
steve
Re: a 'sequencer'
try sonic foundry's exelent ACID PRO 2.0
you can find it all over the web if you look hard enough. I will be albe to start you off. try www.dw2000.net they might have a free full version that you can use a keygen with.
cubase vst32 geting started manual
if anyone knows where i can find the cubase vst 32 getting started manual please share this knowledge with me.I realy cannot handle this program without it.
Re: cubase vst32 geting started manual
: If you have a Barnes & Nobles where you live.....go to this bookstore and have them look up manuals for Cubase. Make sure you specify which version you want and they should be able to order it and have it to in about 4 weeks. They might even have the manual in the store. I wasn't so lucky, we had to order ours. Good Luck!
