Hi

I assume you know how to create disks out of WAV files and got the right software to get it done.
I myself am using Nero Burning ROM for this purpose. Assuming you mean MP3 files when you're talking bout music from the internet, you'll first have to convert them to WAV files. I manage that with Winamp. A few lines below your question on the message board you'll find exactly how it's done. Once you've got your WAV files on your hard drive just create an audio cd and burn them to (recordable)disk.

cubase with RETRO AS-1

Hello,
I'm becoming mad to understand how to use cubase with a synth software.
I'll try to explain.
I have a soft synth (retro AS-1) that I use to make my own sounds.
I would like to record a different instrument (created with retro AS1) on
each track. So:
1. How can I assign an instrument to a single track?
2. If my software synth is off I can't hear anything; is it NORMAL?
3. How can I convert a song made with cubase to a wav file so that I
can record it to a cd?

just installed cubase VST 24 and when I go to open program i recieve a message ""copy protection key not found, make sure its plugged in printer port. WHATS THIS ?????

If you still need this manual i have it as a pdf, also for the aiso, tutorial and other 3.7 stuff. all of it is about 6 Mb so i can upload it to and ftp site and you should be able to download it there. Just let me know

Help New to recording

Help Very new to recording! I have A fostex dmt-8, and All the software needed(cakewalk, soundforge, ect.). I don't realy understand how to record audio. Should I use midi, or is that way off. I have a soundblaster live that should recording digitaly. Please don't tel me that RCA is my only option, shirly I should be able to gain from digital.

Hi!

There is very much to this question. But shortly, do the following.
Let us presume that your sound card is properly installed. Can you play and hear audio files (the one with wav extension)? OK.

Your sound card should have two inputs, LINE and MIC. You can record inserting mic in MIC input or instrument or line out from amplifier to LINE input.

Use mic to record acoustic instruments and voices. Use LINE input to record electric instruments like guitar, keyboard, bass guitar or to record from devices that have line output, like cassette deck, CD player, HI FI rack..

In your system (windows) mixer enable recording for input you wish to record (line or mic). See manual or help files on how to adjust your recording software.

Recording audio is like using tape recorder, only now you use computer as a recording machine.

MIDI is totally different concept, like sets of instructions that drive midi chip. The result is MIDI music that can be used as matrix to add vocals and solo instruments to.

Can anyone help me? I have some .acd files that I am told are sound files, but none of my media players can play them. Can anyone help me convert them to .wavs? I appreciate any help. Please email me if you can help me.

.acd files are for Sonic foundry Acid.
Into this soft you can save to a wave file.

hey i get you exactly, to convert you need to go to save as then whatever file type you want, wav, mp3,wma ect....once you learn how to do this you should put some songs on www.acidplanet.com, but they can only be in certian formats. if you need anymore help just email me

Record from your microcassette player if possible into your computer and use any of the following software to clean it up -

You can use Winamp to convert mp3 files to WAV files this way:
1)Go to the Options menu en select Preferences.
2)Go to Plug-Ins and select Nullsoft Disk Writer Plug-IN
3)Choose your target folder by double clicking on the plug-in or clicking Configure.
4)Close the window and open your MP3 files in Winamp. When you click "Play" it converts the MP3 files to WAV files just like that.

I have tried this but unfortunately what Winamp did for me was just add an extension of.wav. I.E., I started with XXX.mp3 and Winamp made it a XXX.mp3.wav. I then tried to burn the file to a cd but was unsuccesful b/c the program, in fact every burning program I installed could not recognize the file as a designated .wav file. Does anyone know how to change it to a burnable .wav file. I used Streambox untill they took the capability away. I need to start form a RealAudio file and end up w/ a .wav I can burn for the road.

Use a software called Just audio which will convert from MP3 to CDA and also it has a facility to directly burn to CD. I used it and its very easy to handle.

splitting midi tracks

If you are wanting to delet certain tracks form a midi file in order to practice certain instruments I have found the easiest way to do this is to run the midi file through a sequencer that allows you to mute any channel you want.

better still if you have a mini disc player, down load the final midi file mix onto mini disc to practice with
