yeah that does not help much. What is "nero"? What is the URL of "nero" and what exactly does it do? can it make mp3's into wav files? Can it make wav files into mp3's? What about wma?
DT-010 users (Is there anybody out there?)
I'm dying to hear anything anyone has done with the d-lusion DT-010 drum machine. Its a shame nobody seems to be posting user files on the d-lusion site. I want to contact people who are using or have used this program successfully. (or have used the Rubber-Duck)

IT'S EASY MAN! ALL YOU NEED IS A CD BURNER AND THE HOTBURN SOFTWARE. THE FIST STEP IS TO CONVERT YOURS MP3 TO WAVE FORMAT (MUSICMATCH JUKEBOX DO IT) AND AFTER THAT, WITH THE HOTBURN SOFTWARE YOU BURN A CD-R BY ADDING YOUR WAVES SONGS IN THE SOFTWARE IN HOTBURN. YOU CLICK CREATE AUDIO CD WITH THE SELECTED WAVES YOU ADDED AND WHEN HOTBURNS BURNS YOUR CD, IT CONVERTS AUTOMATICALLY YOUR WAVES TO CDA SO THAT ANY CD PLAYERS WILL PLAY IT. THAT'S IT!
Cubase VST4.0
I recently bought a used version of Cubase VST4, but I do not have a "key diskette." Is there any way I can use the program without this authorization disk? I'm using a Mac, OS 8.1

Re: MIDInight Express
Don't feel bad. I downloaded MIDINight Express and can't make heads or tails of it. It was supposed to help me make use Polyhedric's other program, Mellosoftron, which is a good sampling synth program but which has no way to record what you do with it.
I communicated wity Polyhedric and found them responsive but their responses required a level of expertise that I don't possess.
The result is, I cheat with Mellosoftron; I use Total Recorder (a utility that enables you to capture anything that's going on on our sound card)to record what I do with it, which means that if I am to use it, I have to listen to what I'm recording along with off my sound card, which means either burning a CD or dumping it on to an audio tape.

How do I convert MP3's into files for Mini Disc?
Can whoever knows how to convert MP3's into files for MD's please sned me an e-mail or ICQ message. thanks.
p.s My e-mail address is kshum@home.com and my ICQ number is 30330463
Re: How do I convert MP3's into files for Mini Disc?
As far as I am aware, I don't think you can. The way to do it is to get a sound card with a digital output, and just record the output on to an MD recorder - even cheap ones will have a digital in.
Re: How do I convert MP3's into files for Mini Disc?
Along these same lines -- does anyone know how to output from a mini-disk player to a mac, and convert to mp3 format?
MIDI to Wave
How can I convert Midi files to Wave files so that I can record vocals over the top turn them to mp3 and put them on my web page. some body help me please!!!!!!
Re: MIDI to Wave
No reason to convert it to MP3 !!
Using MIDI on the Web - Here's the Code!
It is relatively easy to add a hypertext link. The code is <A HREF="filename.mid">. For example, a link to a song entitled "Surfing" which has the file name "surfing.mid" might look like this:
Here is my newest song, entitled
<A HREF="surfing.mid">Surfing</A>. (This assumes that surfing.mid is in the same directory as your Web pages.)
To embed a MIDI file so that is plays in the background, the basic HTML syntax is as follows. This example, like the one given above, assumes that you have uploaded the MIDI file to the same directory where you keep your Web pages.
<EMBED SRC="surfing.mid" WIDTH="142" HEIGHT="58" AUTOSTART="TRUE" REPEAT="TRUE">
EMBED SRC="surfing.mid" specifies the MIDI file. WIDTH and HEIGHT are the size of the control panel that appears on the page. I like using the values 142 and 58, but you can experiment with making the panel larger or smaller.
You can hide the control panel by setting WIDTH="0" HEIGHT="2" This way, the music plays in the background but the viewer of the page cannot stop or restart it.
AUTOSTART="TRUE" is the default setting, causing playback to begin automatically when you open that page. If you set AUTOSTART="FALSE" playback will start only when the Play button in the control panel is pressed.
REPEAT="TRUE" causes playback to loop until the Stop button is pressed. If you set REPEAT="FALSE" or leave this code off entirely, the song will stop after it has played back once.
This will work on both Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers. Internet Explorer also has a tag called "background sound" which is very simple. For example, you can use <BGSOUND="surfing.mid"> to play the file in the background without displaying a control panel. However, this tag does not work with Netscape. Therefore, I recommend using the EMBED=SRC method since it works with both. Do not use both EMBED and BGSOUND tags. This will cause Explorer to play the file twice at the same time. If you are using FrontPage you must add this code manually, because entering a file name in the "background sound" dialogue box will use the Explorer-only code. (The first time an Explorer user encounters an embedded file the browser may indicate that a plug-in is needed. In this case I recommend using Crescendo or Beatnik. Netscape really doesn't need a plug-in, but you can use either of these).
To test your results, upload the HTML file to your server, connect to your site and see if the music plays correctly. Sometimes no problems are detected when the file is tested locally but show up when accessing it from a server. If you have a problem, especially if your browser displays text instead of playing music, your server may not be configured properly.
Unless you have your own server, you will have to ask your administrator to check the following settings. Just send an e-mail to your provider with your request and include the following:
[Server settings]
MIME type = audio/midi or audio/x-midi
action = binary
suffix = .mid
type = midi
Did you get all that? There will be a test next week ;-) Oh, and if you really get stuck, just post your question on our bulletin board.

Re: MIDI to Wave
You need a synthesizer to play the MIDI files. This can be the synthesizer built into a sound card. (There's also such a thing as a MIDI renderer, but I haven't heard much about them lately.)
As you play the MIDI files, record them as audio (*.wav). To combine vocals with them, either record the vocals at the same time you record your MIDI files to audio, or combine the vocals with the WAV file afterwards. To do that, you need a full-duplex sound card, meaning that it has to be able to play and record at the same time. And it has to be able to do it at 16 bits. As I remember, most SoundBlasters won't do that.
When you're happy with your finished WAV file, convert it to MP3. (Check out MP3.com if your sequencer doesn't do it.)
If you get Cakewalk (or other nice sequencer) and a nice sound card, you can do all those things. If you don't have both those things, you'll need to get creative and work out some other solution.

: You might find the Wingroove softsynth helps. It has the ability (rarely mentioned for some reason) to convert any midi file into a .wav file of up to 44,100mhz stereo (i.e. CD quality). This function may still be used after the shareware trial expiry time, but at only $15 it seems a pretty good little prog.
is it possible to tell where vocals are recorded on a cd track?
i am experementing with coolpro & trying to
remove vocals from a recording using the mixer feature
and vocal cut , however all the songs that i have tried to remove the vocals ,I STILL CANNOT ACHIEVE THIS
CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE?
wav to cda conversion
I have searched bullitin boards and found this question asked a thousand times - but never an answer that worked. I have searched shareware and other software sites and not found anything. I have gone to question and answer sites - no answers?????
Is there anyone out there in this world that knows if there is a program that will allow me (and the thousands of other people with the same problem) to convert a wav file to a cda file that we can then burn to a cd and play in a regular stereo cd player?
Is there such a genius, geek, wizard or nerd that can answer this question??? Thanks for trying.
Re: wav to cda conversion
Wave to CDA conversion: I found out recently quite by accident that Roxio Easy CD creater V5 basic will do this. But first you must encode it as an MP3 file. There are plenty of free converters that will do this. I use "dBpowerAmp Music Converter" which seems to work fine. Then you just start roxio and select the make a music CD option. It will automatically create a disk with .CDA files and these will play on equipment that will only handle CDRs with CDA files. A word of warning though. Do not be temped to use a very high a bit-rates (eg 320kbps) when creating the MP3 file as you may get problems with digital noise. This is possibly due to the conversion being done on the fly during the CD burn and the CPU not keeping up - though my computer is only a P4 1800MHz job and a newer box might convert high bit-rate MP3s ok. I used 192kbps and this worked perfectly and is more than enough resolution for most ears.
Re: wav to cda conversion
this is a problem!
adaptec only seems to write to CDs with Track01, Track02, Track 03 etc etc and I would really like to be able to name the tracks before they are burned in - I could use CD-RW but that is pricey and I can't find a way of doing it on CD-Rs
I.m downloading the Zitt stuff to try out but I can't see any explicit mention of this to date.
Even just save to C: and then file copy would do if I can then play the CDs in my Sony!
Free Trial: wav to cda conversion

The answer lies in getting the right CD burner software. Check out adaptec.com and nero.com.

KORG NS5R and CUBASE
Hi there,
I have bought a cubase vst 3.7 R1 and I have a KORG NS5R, but I don't know how to recognize it with the cubase. Do you know how is it possible ? Do you know if there are some patches or drivers to set into cubase to resolve this problems.
I know that I must use some files (*.dev), but in the cd of Cubase there aren't files like it that can help to drive the Cubase to KORG NS5R.
What Can I do ???
Thank for your support

Hi!
I also use Cubase VST but with a Korg 05/RW
(I guess that´s not too different) and if
you only want to "sequence" sounds on the Korg
from Cubase you don´t need a special driver but a
MIDI-Cable to connect both.
In Cubase you have to set on each track
the MIDI-Channel (1-16)
for the instrument responding on your korg (you can
choose) in "Multi-Mode".
The 05/RW has 16 MultiMode-Tracks on each you can
put a program (A00-G99).
This maybe takes too fast, but e-mail me for more...
Simple recording software?
As a project for my parents, I'm trying to get some old
quarter-inch reel-to-reel tapes transferred to CD.
Now, a single side of one tape is around 1 gigabyte worth
of WAV data, and the programs I've been trying don't
handle that kind of data (cause I don't have a gig of RAM).
What I need is a program that will record huge WAVs, and
split them into separate tracks. And if at all possible, I'd
like to use a freeware program to do it. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Jasper
