I have just changed over from an awe32 to the emu audio production studio. I had been using awe toy which controlled nrpn effects in cakewalk 6.0 and gave me lots of nice effects lice initial filter, resonance etc. When I installed the new card they were all gone and my tunes all sound shite without the effects. Does anyone know how to control nrpns from within cakewalk or even with an external program. You are my last chance!!! thanks, Alan.

Try Goldwave. If the sound is stereo it will attempt to remove the singing. I can't remember where to get it from though.

Unfortunately, there aren't any programs that you can download for this purpose. If there were, you'd find them in our Top 20 downloads chart. Your best bet is to track down the song you want and hope you can buy the instrumental version of it.

I'm looking also and the best I've found so far {without paying for that is} is a plug-in installed in winamp called defx v0.92 I hope to find an upgraded version sooner or later.There were some tracks voices were only partially removed.

want to control pitch of CD in my CD-ROM drive on my computer, so that I can play my keyboard in the keys that I am accustomed to -- as I learn to play music by memory. Any thoughts? Impossible? Can I store an entire selection in memory, then play it back at my selected speed (pitch)? How much memory will I need? Give me an example selection of music. Thanks! Bill

Funny you mention it: I bought a DJX on the weekend and i love it. For the price it really kicks. I run it with cubase VST and so far everything works well. It sends all Midi parameters such as velocity, pitch bend, ribbon controller etc and cubase records it. With Mac i have no idea unfortunately....

Basically I need a step by step guide to using a DJX KEYBOARD with cubase vst.
for example how register it as a device on windows. The soundcard
is the soundblaster 16 avance 100 i think.
Also how do I get midis to play through my keyboard.

Why oh why is my DJX stressing me out....the manual i got with it is about as helpfull as a toaster. I have it sort of working alongside cubase VST, but not all of the voices are correct, surely there is a way of getting all the voices and not just the GM ones, especially the programmed loops, i am not too worried about the STYLES, just the voices. Is the only way through this, to sit down for a week and put all the missed out voices into my soundfont.

i am using a djx and cubasis on a 486. I had loads of problems getting it all working, i havve had it for 3 months and i still have problems. My main problem was that i did not have the correct midi driver files for the soundcard- they had to be down loaded form the steinberg web page. The problem i have now is midi delay from hitting a key on the djx and the information being received. one thing that has been consistent with my set up is inconsistency. ie. i never know for how long it will work etc. Thats why i have decided to speng my student loan on a hardware sequencer the RM1x should be getting that in the next couple of days. My advice to you is to phone Yamaha tech support and your software support. Keep at it you'll get there eventually...paul

I just recently bought a DJX and it's doing some
funny things. I have done everything I can do rule
out user error, but I cannot find any on my part.
I had this problem with using the record fucntion.
Sometimes when I record a few tracks and leave the
record function and later return to it to hear a
composition, it will play the 3 tracks correctly but
shorty into it the 3rd track jumps out of tempo.
I can't figure out why it's doing this. I also have
a problem with the selected user demo voice #000.
When I exit that voice and go to other functions and
later return to it, the keys shift. A drum loop
played on a particular key is moved down several keys
I can't figure this out either. I could really use
some help here.

I have worked with four different soundcards over the last five years, and found that its a tricky and frustrating matter that is dependent upon the soundcard, the midi/joystick cable, and the operating system. The Ensoniq soundcard have more drive power, and will work with all 3 of my cables with Win3.11. The Logitech card worked with 2 cables. However, a setup with the Ensoniq card that worked with Windows 3.11 did not work with Windows 98. However, when I tried a different cable, it worked. I have found that a cable may work for playback, but not for record. Long cables don't work as well.
Hope this gives you some insight.

it can batch convert too

Funny you mention it: I bought a DJX on the weekend and i love it. For the price it really kicks. I run it with cubase VST and so far everything works well. It sends all Midi parameters such as velocity, pitch bend, ribbon controller etc and cubase records it. With Mac i have no idea unfortunately....

where can i find midi and DJX help for IDIOTS like myself?
I'm new to the midi game so excuse me if seem ignorant to anything
that you would consider obvious.
Basically I need a step by step guide to using a DJX KEYBOARD with cubase vst.
for example how register it as a device on windows. The soundcard
is the soundblaster 16 avance 100 i think.
Also how do I get midis to play through my keyboard.
I appreciate any help.

Why oh why is my DJX stressing me out....the manual i got with it is about as helpfull as a toaster. I have it sort of working alongside cubase VST, but not all of the voices are correct, surely there is a way of getting all the voices and not just the GM ones, especially the programmed loops, i am not too worried about the STYLES, just the voices. Is the only way through this, to sit down for a week and put all the missed out voices into my soundfont.

i am using a djx and cubasis on a 486. I had loads of problems getting it all working, i havve had it for 3 months and i still have problems. My main problem was that i did not have the correct midi driver files for the soundcard- they had to be down loaded form the steinberg web page. The problem i have now is midi delay from hitting a key on the djx and the information being received. one thing that has been consistent with my set up is inconsistency. ie. i never know for how long it will work etc. Thats why i have decided to speng my student loan on a hardware sequencer the RM1x should be getting that in the next couple of days. My advice to you is to phone Yamaha tech support and your software support. Keep at it you'll get there eventually...paul

I just recently bought a DJX and it's doing some
funny things. I have done everything I can do rule
out user error, but I cannot find any on my part.
I had this problem with using the record fucntion.
Sometimes when I record a few tracks and leave the
record function and later return to it to hear a
composition, it will play the 3 tracks correctly but
shorty into it the 3rd track jumps out of tempo.
I can't figure out why it's doing this. I also have
a problem with the selected user demo voice #000.
When I exit that voice and go to other functions and
later return to it, the keys shift. A drum loop
played on a particular key is moved down several keys
I can't figure this out either. I could really use
some help here.

Hey sorry cant answer ur original question.I was wondering if u could answer mine though.I was gonna purchase a much more expensive keyboard until I saw the DJX.I`m am gonna purchase within the month but I was wondering am I gonna need seperate equipment(i.e sequencer ,etc)to fully max out its potantial?Write back when u get a chance

Sound card/ external midi keyboard problem
I have an Ovation sound card with an Opti931 chip which sounds great but I can't get my external midi keyboard to work with it. There is a midi/joystick port but nothing happens when I hook my keyboard to it. Any suggestions?

I have worked with four different soundcards over the last five years, and found that its a tricky and frustrating matter that is dependent upon the soundcard, the midi/joystick cable, and the operating system. The Ensoniq soundcard have more drive power, and will work with all 3 of my cables with Win3.11. The Logitech card worked with 2 cables. However, a setup with the Ensoniq card that worked with Windows 3.11 did not work with Windows 98. However, when I tried a different cable, it worked. I have found that a cable may work for playback, but not for record. Long cables don't work as well.
Hope this gives you some insight.
