Re: Cd burner question

: I just bought a CD burner, and i was trying to copy a cd, but it wouldn't work. The reason was that the CD that i was trying to copy was already a copy itself. Is it possible to make a copy of a copy or not? if so, how?
: I would much appreciate it if someone would answer me at Zero000001@aol.com.

: thanks alot.

It doesn't matter if a Cd is a copy, because it's a carbon copy of the original cd.
So you you can't see if it's a copy or not.(the data is same)

How To Protect my VIDEO-CD

Anyone can tell me how i can burn VCD for read only. I wanna protect my VCD or Anyone can tell me that how I can burn VCD in multi track in CDDA mode ?

transposing software

Our church is looking for a program where we can use our keyboard to play a song and then have the program transpose it so that other instruments can play it. The software must also be user friendly since our music director is not very computer literate. Which program would be the best and easiest?

Joy,
do you want a program that prints your music or one that plays what you
entered with another sound on your synth?

Harald -- I'm looking for a program that will print music. We want to play a song into the program in one key and ask it to transpose it to another. For instance, we often have trumpets play along with keyboard, but would like the program to be able to transpose the music for us, rather than doing it all by hand.
Hope you know what I'm talking about -- Joy

Help with Tranposing Music

Good day all,

I have taught myself to play the piano but have difficulty
finding scores of music that I like.

1. I was wondering if there is a program whereby you simply
play the CD of a piece of music you like, and it just transposes
it straight for you so that you can print out the sheet music
for it.

Or

2. I remember there was a software that allowed you to copy music
you liked to it's directories, and it could then slow it up for you
so that you can tranpose it note for note. Does anyone know what
this program is?

Please also reply to my e-mail address if it is not too much trouble,
as my web browser has been very dodgy of late.

Thanks sincerely,

Greg

Re: transposing software

Joy,

even the simpliest demo versions of the established music notation
programs can do, what you have in mind. I suggest to look out for
the following: Finale (Allegro) from www.codamusic.com, Sibelius
from www.sibelius.com or Capella from www.whc.de (in german).
These applications are music notation programs which all have a
transpose function. But beware, you have to give some effort to
learn how to use them as an effective tool for printing music.
For notation/sequencing use, I'd also suggest Cubase. Even without
its "score" add-on, you can record, edit and print out music
with its basic functions. Visit www.steinberg.com

: Greetings, Harald

There's a specific task I wish to accomplish with a transposition program. I've recently learned that there's no B-flat version of our church's hymnal (for the benefit of the parish trumpeter, who's going half bonkers trying to "signt-transpose" along with the organist!) I'd like to be able either to scan a paper copy of whatever hymn (or upload it from CD-ROM, if our church deems to get that high-tech), and (as Chef Emerel would say,) "kick it up a notch" (up one whole step, of course). That way, the trumpeter could pick a line of music and play it (e.g., the tenor line, since our congregation has no choir and our tenors are too un-numerous to mention)...any hnts would be greatly appreciated! One of my AGO buddies from college mentioned Finale...would Finale do this? Thanks much!:-)

Wich soft for CDA files?

Is there a soft to mix, edit and so for .CDA files?
Until now, my only option is to convert .CDA to .WAV, mix them with cakewalk and then put them in a CD with EASY CD CREATOR.
Thank you all of you!

Re: Wich soft for CDA files?

You can never mix, edit .CDA files.
You must do it with WAV.
CDA files are only index files for the
music on an audio-cd.
Imagine: It's like a link at internet.
What against do that all with WAVs ?
On WAV-files you can do everything you want.
A good CD-Ripper gives you exactly the same
audio quality as your original audio-cd.

I'm sad that I don't have more info for you.

You can use n-Track to record over a .wav file but it won't remove the original vocals (no programs will AFAIK) - download n-Track from <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/n-Track_studio/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/n-Track_studio/</a>

Re: How do I record myself singing over a song

Hi there,

There isn't anything for the PC or Mac that is shareware as far as I know. There may well be software to do this with some seriously high quality systems, but nothing for home PC/Mac users. As a way around things, you can sometimes get instrumental versions of your favourite songs. Try looking on <a href="http://www.cdnow.com">CDNow</a> for relevant singles.

Cheers
Geoff

You can look through the Mac section on the site, most programs say what the system requirements are so you can see if they'll work on your Mac - <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/mac/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/mac/</a>

Is there a drum machine program that samples voices of marching

I need a program that samples sounds of all marching percussion instruments--snares (and rimshots), tenors, basses, cymbals, and auxillary percussion. Does such a thing exist? or do i need to learn how to program my own? please e-mail me with your response.

There are several programs which will do this. Personally I recommend ReBirth RB-338 (http://www.propellerheads.se)

Your project sounds quite interesting to me. I would be happy to your samples into a ReBirth RB-338 Mod.

See my webpage for other interesting drum sample collections i've assembled.

ACID sound problem

This is a minor problem. I find sometimes that ACID has problem with arbitrarily selected one-shot wav samples. For example, I have a hard bell hit occurring on every quarter note, but for some of the hits, ACID takes a split second to register the hit. It almost seems as though it takes a fraction of a second for the volume to kick in on that sample. So there is a bit of a lag.

I can close the program down and restart it, and the same problem will persist with the same wav sample, but in some other bar. Hence, I am sure it is not my envelopes.

I am using an AWE64 on a 350MHz system. Any help?

Thanks.... Euan.

Re: ACID sound problem

ACID has a lot of processing problems. Your system is not at fault. The entire quantizing side of the program needs looking at. I think only another release or 2 may solve these bugs.
I've given up using it because of the sound degredation that i constantly get.

This is what I do:

<ol>
<li>Use the program Cool Edit for recording (if you haven't already got it you can download it from <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_Win32/">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_Win32/</a>

<li>Use a stereo cable to plug the "Line Out" or "Head Phones" jack on your cassette player to the "Line In" jack on your soundcard
<li>Then simply hit record on Cool Edit and then quickly play your cassette to record it.
</ol>

Problems

I downloaded the cool edit 2000 like suggested here , but even then when I try to plug the cable , from one side to the HeadPhones and from the other side to the "LINE IN" or "MICROPHONE", I can record nothing, and this despite the fact I can here the music from the pc Speakers.
Any Ideas. ?

If you got a WAVE editor or something with your Soundblaster you can plug the headphone socket or line out on your tape deck into the line in socket on the soundblaster.

The Wave editor will then allow you to save as file then you can convert to MP3 with a freeware programme.

Hope that helps

Roland EP7 & Kawai GMega How do I get 160 voices?

I have a Roland EP7 II and want to get to more than the first (about 30) voices on a Kawai GMega.
The EP7 is great but it needs a good rock organ, the GMega has a couple of B3 organ sounds at about patch 135 but I can't get to them via the EP7. I have a PC
but I'm looking for a "live" solution.
Can anyone help. Thanks

Cakewalk 4.2 compatability with nylon classical guitar

As a music teacher of classical guitar my hope is to allow my students to hear themselves via new technology.

The music programe Cakewalk along with Creative Lab AWE64 seemingly is still insufficient. The result sounds like a harp or clavichord.

Any help suggestions to aleviate this problem would be very much appreciated.

You may have two problems:

1. Your microphone. A cheap microphone will have already degraded the signal quality before it even enters your computer! A good quality microphone is necessary for the relatively quiet classical guitar.

2. Your soundcard. I am using Cakewalk Professional 8 with and AWE 64, and do get some noise from the soundcard. The AWE is a "gaming" soundcard, and not really of sufficient quality for high-end digital recording. Many manufacturers now make a mid-level card that will not introduce much noise to your signal. Try one of those if the microphone trick doesn't work.

you need to COMPRESS (not comprimize) a wav to mp3 (MPEGlll)which is the same format used in DVDs. SoftEncode is probably one of the easiest.

DJing with MP3's

I have thousands of good mp3's and I want to DJ with them. I'm thinking of running of 2 channels of mp3's and the other 2 channels with my turntables through my mixer. Basically replacing the cds with mp3s. Anyone try this setup? The main corcern is the hardware and software. Which is the best/possible way to go.

1)Build a new system with appropiate speed and memory and use a multichannel output soundcard? Using this setup is it possible to run two MP3 players and set them up as two different channel outputs? I know the compression of MP3 is hard on the system's resources so I wonder if this is possible.

2)Or would it better to have two seperate running systems? I perfer choice number one for ease of transporting.

I know you can use programs like Virtual Turntables and the like but I want to use my "hands on" mixer. More importantly, I want to incorporate my tables. If anyone would like to comment or answer anything to this long post feel free.

you should try a program called bsi wavestation.
it's actually a radio broadcast proggy which you can run with one or two soundcards.
the good thing about this program is that you can set an intro time and seague at the end so that your tracks will overlap at the point of the seague that you set.
if you wnt anymore info then email me and i will go further into detail. believe me as a dj this proggy makes life a lot easier.

Is your samplerate 44 kHz or 22 k?
If the latter is the case it explains the frequency-cut at 11000 Hz.
The highest frequency audible in a wave file is the samplerate divided by 2....
