I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem that I'm haveing. I have ,on my harddrive, a .bin file 700megs or so that has in it one data track and some audio tracks and no matter what I do, I can't seem to find a program that will extract any of them. Do you have and extractor programs/converters that could do the job or do you have an converter that will change this mode 2 bin to an iso or something? or get the music files out as waves or cda's etc.?

Sounds like you got a pretty big audio program bin file with audio samples in it? Or whatever it may be...you can use bin2iso or even binchunker to extract all the files to a directory. But if there are cd audio files in it, you will have to use bin2iso to convert to iso and burn it to a cd. However, there are cd burning programs that will burn bin files if you have a burner!

700 Megs is a lot. I would try to use Cool edit. Open the file with the option *.*(all files). It will ask you then how to interpret the file. Give it the parameters you think your audio data has. It will open the file. you will hear some garbage where there's non-audio data and your audio track somewhere in the file.

there are programs like that, but most of them aren't

Look out for demo versions, of Finale Allegro, NoteWorthy Composer, Cubase (Score) or
Capella (www.whc.de). Codamusic even has a new one for music notation beginners on their
webpage.
Regardless which, you have to dig a bit into the visual aspects of
written music to get readable results.

LAPTOP !!! there are only a few sound cards for Laptops which enable you to create music without an external synth.....I know Roland do one....but I suspect your standard card has neither an on-board synth OR midi out.
You can still do it tho......just more effort.

Usually when you purchase a burner, it comes bundled with Software which will let you Format your files to CD-Audio format.
The source files must be 16bit Stereo 44.1khz Sample Rate (.wav or .aif) files
The CD-burning application will usually let you arrange the order of playback etc.
If you want to do some serious CD-Audio premastering, you will need to purchase more sophisticated software like Sonic Foundry's CD-Architect, or Gear

The cross-platform (for both PC and Mac) file type is .midi. I think MS PPoint does(or should)support that file type. If not then .wav is the windows default. Perhaps a search engine like Web Crawler will find your tune title or search midi and wav sites.

I use Adaptec easy cd creator...which came with my CDRW.....I think you will find that most decent cd burning software will convert wav to CDA and CDA to wav.....mine does...

I am also in search of a cdg player for my computer. It seems to be really hard to find one that works properly. I'm hoping that after I find the software that my computer will recognize the data on my cds.

I have Cakewalk 8. When I try to edit wave files, nothing happens. Do I need some special drivers ?

Where are you trying to edit? In audio view? Give more info...b.t.w. you don't need special drivers.
Copying a cd music onto computer
Okay, I am a newbie at this, however, there are times
I would like to send, (attach to email), a certain piece
of music that I have on cd.
Therefore, I would like to know how to copy a song from a
cd to my computer (of decent quality) and then save it as
a file that I can share with friends via my computer.
Does this take special software? If so, what?
