Can Anyone advise if you need to use particular blank CD's for
recording music cd's from a CD writer?
I heard a suggestion that it can stuff up you regular CD player?
Any help would be cool

Any CD-R media is good for writing music CD's.
If you write music cd's, try to find a option for "disc-at-once" recording, that should remove clicks and noises between recorded tracks.

this is total bollocks!!!
i use el cheepo cd's such as sast or leoptics
no problemo
these normally run somewhere between $1.50 - $1.90
depending where you are.....that's australian mate

It is not onle the writer you specify. This problem effects most HP writers. There is software called RENO which is addaptable to these writers. I also have this problem and am awaiting a copy of such program and will definately try it out.

LOGIC problems with HUBI loopback please HELP

I have a soundblaster AWE 32 and it doesn't allow me to use more then one midi app at a time. So i have to use Hubi's loopback device. This works fine on my other MIDI software exept with Logic.
When i press a note it gets stuck, i believe this is called MIDI-overflow. I have tried switching of midi thru but it doesn't help.
Please help!

It sounds like your system rsources and memory are running low. Save what you are doing and restart cubasis.....that should clear it....If it does not then you will have to reboot your computer...

I've had my VS 880 EX for 3 years and I absolutely Love it, it's the best tool I've ever bought, not only that, Roland keeps upgrading the system with free downloads from there site, I also have Cakewalk proaudio 8, And the 2 sync together nicely, but Cakewalk is a bit of a challenge to get going right, The 880 is ready to go right out of the box. If yu want to get up and running quick with very little hassle buy the 880 or any othe Roland Hard disc recorder yo can always add to the setup later and still pump out a ton of music, Cakewalk on the other hand, you need midi interface card a good digital sound card, hope you have the right bus speed on your PC and enough ram, an a big enough drive to store all you audio files.

I'm a VS880 user... It depends on how professional you are using the VS880... I say if you got the money buy a vs880. If you use heavy software on your comp. the chance that your comp will crash is very big... so it's up to you...

All three are good, and both will record vocals and music fine.
The main difference between them is that you will have to run and maintain any computer running cubase or cakewalk, if you can do this then you should be fine with either. I would also add the recomendation of Logic Audio to your list, produced by Emagic.
I would point out that:
1: The roland VS-*880 will travel, the computer is harder to take around.
2:Think about what you will be using the recorder with, if your allready have studio equipment then you need to make sure you can use it with what ever you buy.
3:Computer based recording setups have almost unlimited combinations. Some people like to be able to use faders in front of them others don`t mind having it on a computer screen. Effects as well can be external rack effects of software running on the machine.
4: Think about how much money you want to spend, and get quotes from people for computer systems.
5: It is not an absolute must but getting your PC custom built for music is the best idea, they will build load the software and test it all for you.
I hope that helps some.....I have used both Logic Audio and a Roland VS-880....

To add to what I have just said....
1: Ease of use really depends on you, if you are good with computers then Cakewalk or Cubase will be no problem. If you don`t use computers much then they may be a bit daunting for you.
2: Sound quality is not that much of an issue, they will both sound the same, but with a computer you can choose you sound quality by buying different sound cards or systems. The cheaper cards sound good, as you pay more the better they get...
3: Also think about the options the software has to offer. These programs are very powerfull, if you will not use the extra options they you do not need them.
4:If I were you I would go somewhere for a demo of a computer based system, from the time you posted I am guessing you in the states. I am in England so maybe someone from the US can suggest somewhere for you to go.....

I need to find out how to extract the in-game music, which plays while you are driving. If anyone can help me out with this, I would really appreciate it. If yu want to get up and running quick with very little hassle buy the 880 or any othe Roland Hard disc recorder yo can always add to the setup later and still pump out a ton of music, Cakewalk on the other hand, you need midi interface card a good digital sound card, hope you have the right bus speed on your PC and enough ram, an a big enough drive to store all you audio files.

I'm a VS880 user... It depends on how professional you are using the VS880... I say if you got the money buy a vs880. If you use heavy software on your comp. the chance that your comp will crash is very big... so it's up to you...

All three are good, and both will record vocals and music fine.
The main difference between them is that you will have to run and maintain any computer running cubase or cakewalk, if you can do this then you should be fine with either. I would also add the recomendation of Logic Audio to your list, produced by Emagic.
I would point out that:
1: The roland VS-*880 will travel, the computer is harder to take around.
2:Think about what you will be using the recorder with, if your allready have studio equipment then you need to make sure you can use it with what ever you buy.
3:Computer based recording setups have almost unlimited combinations. Some people like to be able to use faders in front of them others don`t mind having it on a computer screen. Effects as well can be external rack effects of software running on the machine.
4: Think about how much money you want to spend, and get quotes from people for computer systems.
5: It is not an absolute must but getting your PC custom built for music is the best idea, they will build load the software and test it all for you.

To add to what I have just said....
1: Ease of use really depends on you, if you are good with computers then Cakewalk or Cubase will be no problem. If you don`t use computers much then they may be a bit daunting for you.
2: Sound quality is not that much of an issue, they will both sound the same, but with a computer you can choose you sound quality by buying different sound cards or systems. The cheaper cards sound good, as you pay more the better they get...
3: Also think about the options the software has to offer. These programs are very powerfull, if you will not use the extra options they you do not need them.
4:If I were you I would go somewhere for a demo of a computer based system, from the time you posted I am guessing you in the states. I am in England so maybe someone from the US can suggest somewhere for you to go.....

I have the game Need for Speed: High Stakes, and I have used a program to download some of the audio off the cd (.xa files), but the music from these files are just cinematic music. I need to find out how to extract the in-game music, which plays while you are driving. If anyone can help me out with this, I would really appreciate it.
