The full version has features that are disabled in the demo. Demo limitations: No save, no fulll-duplex, limited editing, no CD burning. If you liked the demo the full version is worth buying.

You didn't say what program you're using,it almost looks like some kind of hard limiting has been applied to the signal,but that's just a guess. Let us know if you figure it out.

USE audio grabber 1.61 TO COPY THE CDA TRACK TO YOUR hard disk.Then burn it with NERO 5.0.

What the heck is an XA file?

Got sound files stored in an *.XA format and can't convert them. No idea how to even start. They are the sound files for a game and it is silent... Can anyone help?

I too have come across all kinds of sound formats within games. I am no expert but have come to the conclusion that the extensions have been used by the programmers to allow playback only within the game.

I would try and convert the extension to .wav or .au or some other recognised format and see if that works. I have changed a .wav file to a .bmp file and my audio players won't look at it.

Hope this helps. If it's rubbish....hope someone can put us both right!

My name is Jeff and I wanted to share with you that I have finally found an Internet resource that is really useful and helpful for people like me. I am an artist trying to make it in the music scene and I have never ever seen such a huge database with really interesting contacts in the industry. Maybe there is somebody else out there that wants to know this and avoid all the work I did to find out of this info. The page is called hitquarters.com

Moving Atari MIDI files to the PC

Use a PC formatted disk, not an Atari formatted disk, to transfer your files across the platform divide. If that doesn't work, and it should, why not just play the files across?

You could also get a TOS emulator, and run your Atari programs on the PC. The emulator will read the Atari disks, or should, anyway.

i'm sure someone out there knows . i used streambox ripper 2.009 and now the trial version is over . Do u know what can i do to reuse it ?? or do u know any other softwares that can convert .ra to wavs ?

How to improve playback of MIDI files

Umm I'm no expert but this might help. The sounds u hear obviously originate in the souncard (so long as u have IT selected as your 'soundout' and not something else in audio options). Now if the sounds on your present card are not realistic enough for u then u have some options. 1 - get a new and obviously more expensive soundcard and replace your 64 with it. The more u are willing to spend the better the quality of the sounds u will get. Maybe u can download demo songs from different cards to listen to their quality? Try manufacturers web sites. 2 - try an 'emulated soundcard' like Yamaha SY-XG50. This piece of software creates it's own midi sounds. It causes a time delay but that's no problem if just listening back to songs. 3 - some cards I think allow u to store .wav file samples of real instruments and can use these instead of electronically produced midi instruments for a sound source - don't quote me on that! 4 - u can if u invest the time to learn how to do it assign different midi tracks to a synth like Retro AS-1 (I think!)and use this as a sound source. Much like the Yamaha only u can fine tune individual instruments and infact create all kinds of sounds. U would need a fast computer with 64/96 MB RAM to have a lot of instruments going all at one go.

I use 'CDex' it's freeware! Also bob these programs are not 'compressors' but 'converters' - file converters! MP3 is a compression format - hold on, u may be right they do compress don't they? OK u right - but when it's mp3>.wav then that's an expansion so really converters they r!

Lawrence - mp3 mixing is def possible as is vocal removal but the results of this extraction may not be too good. U could probablly find what u need in this sites software section but I couldn't say where exactly as it confuses me. Check out www.sonicspot.com OK? Some options for u are 'BPM Studio' - under 'DJ Tools' and AnalogueX Vocal Remover - under 'pluggins'.

Forgive me, you did indeed ask about instrument not vocal removal. I'm not aware of a program which does this rather unusual thing but maybe someone out there does!

I in Scotland but the weather is awful! I hope to live in Australia one day so I'll look u up if that's OK?:)

As Luke says, Napster is one way of downloading music. It tends to MP3 files which is probably what you want. There are other ways and other music types. If you can't work napster or need any more info. drop me aline and I'll take you through it step by step.

What I have been looking for is something that would allow realtime control over what song or pattern is about to play next and how long each song or pattern plays. Switching between songs/patterns needs to happen without stopping or interuptions. Anything that works like the sequencer on the mc-303 or rebirth would work perfectly.

sounblaster trouble

I put a sounblaster live card in a PC with Windows 95. The computer seems to know its there. Windows systems has an icon that shows creative media something or other but the soundblaster software can't see the card. I've loaded and uninstalled it about 10 times with the same results. Any ideas? I'm pretty much a computer novice. Be gentle.
