What is probably happening is that the song is still downloading when you are trying to delete it or you have the file open in your mp3 player. You cannot delete a file if another application has it open.

Delete them from the directory on your hard drive through Explorer.

I don't know what your iBook problems are being caused by but I would point you towards this forum which is weel
attended by intelligent Macintosh users. It's a general forum but there are enough musical people there to help.

My own advice would be to check that the version of the application is OS9 compatible. I suspect your older Mac is
running an older than 9 OS and that might be the problem. I would check Encores site incase they have an OS9
update etc etc... Also, check that you have at OS 9.0.4 installed. If not, go for the Software Update control panel
and get it there, it has some important bug fixes.

Try Cakewalk Pro audio 8. 9 as far as I know isn't worth the bother. Get loaded up with some good DirectX plugins. If you shop in the back of Comptuer Shopper, this should be pretty cheap. There are a lot of good shareware plugins out here. CWPA 8 can be found for $100, and CWPA 9 is $300.

For synthesis, you're best using shareware like TS-404 and HammerHead for drum sequencing along with Stomper or some samples to make sounds. If you need to make mp3s look to AudioCatalyst. I don't know the current street trice, check audiocatalyst.com.

Also, SoundForge works GREAT with Cakewalk Pro Audio 8, as cou can select a track and edit it in SF and then it puts it right back where it came from. It also supports DirectX plugs. It is a bit pricey, but worth it.
