This is a huge subject.

The easiest is to get a copy of Multiquence of N-Track Studio.

Use a cable (usually the one that came with your portable CD Player) to run from the output of your cassette deck (headphone jack) to the input of your computer's soundcard. Because the cable is most likely stereo 1/8inch to dual RCA, you will need an RCA to 1/8inch adapter.

This should get you well under way. Don't expect professional results.

I'm on MS IE 5.01 - nothing special. Provided by 'Freeserve' in UK if that makes any difference?

Always had mplayer2.exe. It shows in the files, but when trying to open a screen, we get message: mplayer2.exe cannot be found. What's the answer. HELP! Thanks.

Audio problem

I usually post answers to this board, but at last I have a question of my very own!

Recently my internal CD drive has started making loud "clicking" noises through the speakers when I play audio CD's. The sound appears to pulse in time with it accessing my hard drive. I have a SB live platinum card and I have already re-installed the drivers but it has not cured the problem. The system is only a few months old and it is also evident if I play them on my CD-RW drive as well. My DVD drive, however, plays DVD's with no probs at all. The only time I've encountered this noise in the past was when playing badly scratched CD's. This is occurring on all CD's even brand new ones.

Has anyone got any idea what may be causing this? I need to cure it ASAP because its holding back some of my recording projects.

midi to sheet music question

i had it but my computer crashed and i lost a lot of stuff and i can't remember what it was called, nor can i find it here, even though here was where i originally downloaded it.

both Sibelius and Encore can do this. You can get a Sibelius demo and try it out over the web, but Encore may be hard to track down. Something like it seems to be available at a place called gvox. Maybe a starting point!

Your PC will probably already have a soundcard installed which is obviously already compatible with windows. In order to connect your Keyboard to the PC you will need to buy a midi adaptor cable from your local PC or music store. This plugs into the joystick port of your soundcard and has midi in and out plugs on the other end together with a split to another joystick plug where you can plug in your joystick if you use one.

Connect the midi plug labelled "out" to the midi "in" on your Keyboard and the "in" plug into the midi "out" of your keyboard.

I am not familiar with the Encore program, but most (if not all) standard midi sequencer or scorewriter programs are compatible with this platform. It is then up to you to read the manuals of your keyboard and notator programs for further details of using midi.

There used to be a demo of version 4 available but I think that has been recalled now that V4.5 is out. Check out Emagic's site.

The closest you'll get to it in a free download is to join the rocket network and download the free copy of Logic Rocket. This has capabilty of 4 audio and many midi tracks as a standalone application and up to 16 audio tracks when used on the network.

encore, save as EPS

hey wayne anything from Napster is in mp3 format and so needs to be converted (try 'CDex' from www.sonicspot.com) to .wav format for the burning software. You should put CDA format on the CD i believe to play in CD players.

Roland ep7 to PC

I can't seem to get Music Center to run on my computer, as I keep getting the error "Program resource load failed". I can't figure what this error is referring to, and why it keeps occuring no matter what I do! Anybody know?

Hi - I use Music Centre Pro and it's a great sequencer. Don't know what this problem is but uninstalling then reinstalling the program may give u some files which did not properly install the first time or which have possibly become corrupted when other software has been installed.

You will have a conflict in the soundcard, they can't both produce audio unless you have 2 soundcards.

Is the usb port working withh the MD atall? If not the plug it in then switch on computer for Windows to recognise device (MD) and load drivers/configure itself.
U can always use the line out of computer to line in of MD?

A really neat little freeware program called "Right Click MP3" is available from the Music software link on this site!

There are loads to choose from, but I have this one and it works a treat!

Hi, I want to find a program that will play short loop files to viewers of
my site dealing hearing disorders. The targeted
audience will most likely not be familiar with
audio on the computer. I am only just a beginer myself. I use an old version of CoolEdit for looping white static noise on my computer while I work. My goal is to find the simplest of audio player that will
play just a few second loop of different white/pink
noises that I've created while the viewer is using my site. However, ULTIMATELY, I also want to offer the looping noises to whoever wishes to download and use them on their system. Is there such a player?
My (limited) knowlege makes me think that there is probably some Java scripted player for the web page, and another universal player for downloading to the individual computers. How far off am I?

Cubasis AV under windows 2000

Just gotten a Roland PC-300 USB MIDI Controller keyboard. It came with a copy of Cubasis AV. The problem is it won't let me install this software under 200o pro. The installation demands either 95/98 and bombs right out.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Help with my bass

OK, I'm a total beginner at using my computer to record music, but I was wondering if anyone knew how I can get my bass to be able to record into my PC. I've gott all the right connections and thigns, but no way of getting the noise from my bass onto my computer!
Keep in mind I'm totally new at this!!

you need an amp, 2 standard 1/4" cables, a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter (you can find them at radio shack or any other similar store), and a sound card
for software, you can use the windows sound recorder, usually found here C:\WINDOWS\SNDREC32.EXE
plug the 1/4" to 1/8" adapter into your sound card. the cable from your bass runs to your amp, and if you have a line out, plug that into your sound card, otherwise plug the headphone output to the sound card. and finally, the improtant part, run the volume control program (found in the bottom right corner in the system tray), click options, then properties, then the option button for recording, if the microphone check box isn't checked, click it now. and then click OK. next check to see if the volume for microphone is not turned all the way down, and that the select option box that is directly below it is checked.

i have a brand new computer with windows media plaer. the visualizations worked for a week, but now only two of them will work. does anyone know why this is, and what i can do about it?
