CD burning

vocal editing

I want to purchase home studio software that allows you to create a vocal track, then edit the track by note if possible, then add other tracks using virtual (or non-virtual) instruments to match the notes in the vocal. This is because I can sing some notes that I can't find on a guitar at this point. Is there such a software that can do this? Thanks!

Hi, I'm looking for a piece of software which can analyse a (preferably stereo) audio mix and at least to some extent isolate and separate different instruments into different channels which can be mixed again into a new mix. I assume this would be some kind of advanced spectrum analyser, but I do not know if any such software exists. Even being able to separate vocals from instruments, or just drums (by analysing peaks) or bass (low-pass filter?).

In summary, does anyone know if any such software exists? If so, names and websites please!

Unfortunately, it has to be midi, or take the time to transcribe instrument by instrument

Anybody ever heard of an old piece of shareware called <b> Canned Laughter </b>? I think it might be a VST plug-in, but I'm not sure.

It takes speech as an input, and puts out what would be humourous gobbloodygook. It's kind of like EVPmaker, except much more sophisticated.

If anybody knows where I can find a copy, please let me know.

Protools and the TG-500???? H E L P

I've currently aquired the upgraded Protools LE system and I run several sound modules including a Yamaha TG-500.

In the past, with OMS and a Studio 4, I had no problems working through theTG's Multi-mode.
However, since I have changed to a Midisport interface (MAC OSX) any patch/instrument change I make on my Protools session immediately changes the TG to Voice Play mode??????

Any ideas how I can 'change' that to saty on Multi-mode?

midi recording from triton to pro tools

I'm having a difficult time recording a finished song on the triton onto the pro tools. Is there a way that I can sync each track so that they each record and playback at the same speed. I'm able to record each track, but they are all off beat. Is there a way that I can set it up so that the pro tools can start my triton at the same time I start it up to record?

Definately N-track. It's easy to use and pretty cheap. But I would invest in a better, more top-notch kind of software (like Cubase). It pays off if you're seriously into HD-recording.

And I can't say this enough: even if you go with N-track, get a decent pair of studio monitors, otherwise it's REALLY difficult to get a good mix. No matter which software you use.

SFK File Problem

Hi everyone,
A few months I created a song using Sonic Forge and on my computer the file's extension is .sfk and it a Sonic Forge file - but when I open it (using Sonic Forge) I get this message: "This application does not support this file".

What is going on with this file, and is there any way I can it - or just create a mp3/wav/etc.?

As I understand it the SFK file is something that Sonic uses in conjunction with the music file. When im editing music etc I usually save them as wavs and then convert them to mp3 using something like Musicmatch. Of course I could be miles off. :P Hope this helps.

When you first open a file, Sound Forge scans the entire file and creates a peak file. The peak file is the graphic file of sound stored with the same name and in the same location as the audio file, but it is given an .sfk extension.

xg-works How to change list of Instruments (tones)

Now I have the following problem: I'm using an casio keyboard having no genaral midi standad tone sounds. Now I would like to use it in XG- works but I would like to have the right names for the sounds of this keyboard in the XG-Works "diplay" or list for the tones too not as an example strings if there are guitars sounding.
Is there anybody who could help me???

I would contact Yamaha 1-800-PRO-YAMAHA and check with them regarding compatabilty issues.
Does your Casio even have an XG soundset? If not, do yourself a favor and consider the purchase of a fine sounding Yamaha PSR keyboard. You won't be dissappointed.

I too have just aquired Sonar3, it was easy to setup, vst and plugs are easy with the plugin enabler. I am having trouble figuring out how to bounce midi data to audio from a vst instrument. It says in the help to bounce to disk, but that hasnt worked out for me. I would have figure it was a matter of record enabling the audio that holds the vst. Got any ideas?

Drumming program

Hello there,
I was wondering whether there is a program which will play a guitar riff which i recorded while I can add a beat over it. I am using the usersample option on a program called Hammerhead Rhythm Station but it is difficult. You have to get the timing right, it becomes easier if you shorten the riff to 1 measure but it ruins the guitar.

Also is there a program which makes the bass drum go in sync with the guitar like a band fear factory and loads others do??

Computer recording

I want to get a studio using the assistance of my computer but have too many questions about it.

to cut it nice and simple i will ask:

How can record live up to 4 tracks at a time and get 4 different managable tracks on my computer.

when I get these tracks completely managable, How can I mix them down and apply effects to them?

Midi and Microphone programs

Also i bought a new mic and keyboard everything is all connected right and I even had a friend who hs studio come over and check it out. He said everything was fine I need to download sperate programs for the mic and keyboard. My question to anyone is which programs to download?
