Thanks for the reply, I was a bit on the sleepy side when I posted. Ok, I have Steinberg Cubase SX, but this has latency problems. I'm looking for something similar to the FM7 standalone, but with the addition of recording capabilities.

midi sync

I'm using Cakewalk HomeStudio 2002, and I'm trying to sync my drum machine (DR-550 with midi in only) to my computer sound card (SoundBlaster Live) via midi. How do I get my software to act as a sync to talk to my drum machine through midi.

:There should be a Midi settings option in Cakewalk. Set the output as Soundblaster Midi Out. Slave the drum machine to your computer, probably using midi clock. I've never used that program or that drum machine, but that's basically how it works in theory.

You could edit the Midi files in a Midi Sequencer and change the velocities of the notes. This would take some understanding of midi and velocities as well as the program and may ruin the original intended dynamics.

Burnt CD won't work in car but works on other CD players

The audio CDs I burn work on all CD players except on my new car CD player (Philips). It just ejects the disk. My son has the same model car player and my CDs won't work on his player either. Is this a known problem with some car players?

Hi. I have the same problem. I make a lot of burnt CDs and they play on my computer and DJ equipment but they won't play on my car CD player. If you have any suggestions or if anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. I tried a different brand of CDs and it still won't work in my car.

When people started burning their own CD's, many CD players wouldn't play them properly or at all. I believe it was to do with the strength of the lasers with the poorer than 'pressed' copying procedure. I still here reports of people with new car CD players that wont play their CD's so it's not unusual but still a good arguing point if you wanted to take it back.

You could try another brand of CD or go for a different coloured back than the ones your using. I believe gold back CD's are a good place to start..

I am having an odd situation: an OK XP Pro machine, SB Live! Value, lots of music software. Suddenly, it is as if Wave-output is unreachable. Everything is heard perfectly through the speakers, whether streaming audio, CDs, MP3s etc. However, whatever recording program I use (Creative Recorder etc., and I've tried many) fails to grab anything from Wave input. Microphone, MIDI etc. work perfectly. I've looked at the settings: SB Live! Value Wave Device, Wave volume high, seems alright. Can anyone help me?

Can't get Roland e 70 to talk to a win 95 machine

Hi,
I'm trying to get my Rolad E 70 talking to my computers. With my Win 98 computer, all runs well (I am using Midisoft Recording seesion as software) - midi files from the computer play on the E 70, and I can playthe E 70 and the music comes up on the computer software. But I want to use my Windows 95 computer for this ( my 98 computer is really for other jobs). But... midi files on the Win 95 computer will play just fiine on the E 70, but when I play the E 70, the computer does not see it and does not see any input/music comiing in. Any help would be really appreciated.

Midi notate problem

I use the midinotate, I find the hightlight note is faster then voice, can I adjust the hightlight note delay 0.5 sec?

minor problems

i have audiowerk 2 almost up and running. i have signals coming from the computer but not going in . also when i try to run logic or reason my computer wont recognize audiowerk at all. my friends seem to think its in my preferences or in my extensions but i cant seem to find the problem. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I would download the latest drivers for that card from Emagic and install them. Go into Logic's 'HardWare and Drivers' menu and make sure you have just the Audiowerk card selected. You might have to reboot Logic for it to work properly.

Ok so i wrote before about how Kazaa (Glokster, Kazaa Lite, etc.) wont connect. Jason suggested that i might have a firewall.
Well I dont think that is possible. I live in college apartments, and there is an ethernet hookup in each of our rooms... and my other roomates connections work fine. AND mine used to work fine also. So.. Does anyone have any other ideas? :(

Well No, I'm not sure about anything. I dont know how to find out if i have a software firewall. However, I dont believe so, because it worked fine before (and when i first bought the computer a little over a year ago)- and now i reformatted it, so it should be like a brand new computer. I shouldnt have any type of software firewalls I wouldnt think.

I would try out some Windows forums as this sounds more of a computer issue than a musical one.. There are some good Windows people here but I suspect you would do better with a straight Windows forum..

Try out Cnet or somewhere like that..

Gibson Guitar pre-1950

As a young lad I bought a secondhand Gibson guitar in 1950. It seems to have had some reworking to the finger board, making it very fast indeed. Now that I am 70 years of age and no longer play the guitar I would be <most> grateful if someone could advise me on the approximate value of this instrument.

On the fruity loops website it mentions a site called reFX. They have a few great plugins. My personal favorite is the plastic one... real fun stuff. You can download free beta version that work fine and allow you to save... incase your cheap like me. Also they have a guitar synth that REALLY sounds like a guitar. Definetly worth a try. Have fun.

Sampling .Wav With Fruity Loops 3.56

How come when I upload a .wav sample it doesn't play?

When I use the 3xOsc instead of a Sampler channel to upload it into the sampler menu, only a few samples show a wave. Even then, it doesn't play.

Adding it to the piano doesn't work. I don't have beatslicer and I don't know if it will help. Does the sampler have a limit to the file size or something???

All audio CD's are created something like this...

audio: subchannel data: audio: subchannel data: audio, and so on.

Regular cd players ignore the subchannel data and play just the audio.

CD+G players play the audio and read and display the data stored in the Subchannels (that is where the graphics are written).

CD+G disks when viewed with explorer look like any other audio CD.

Wave editor expired

I had to reformat my hard drive. When I reinstalled my Nero burner program it said that my Wave Editor and Cover Designer had expired? Does anybody know how I can get it back?

Nic, I just had a similar experience and found your post on my search for answers. Can I ask if you solved your prob?

I'm assuming my problem is due to (1) needing an update for Burning Rom to load on my PC, and Nero didn't recognize that the downloaded Wave Editor was not limited to trial usage, or (2) removing the incomprehensible Nero Media Player from my hard drive.

Hope you can help - Nero is, so far, unreachable ...
