-->I don't know of any programs that are made to convert a whole CD of mp3s. If I were trying to do that, I'd probly use RipEditBurn (www.blazeaudio.com) to import each mp3 into wave. Then I could normalize each one and burn a stereo-compadable cd straight from that program. Or a bunch of cds, in your case. The reason people like mp3 is that the files are so much smaller than wave files, but the quality is still very good. You can put something like 60 (?) mp3s on a cd, but only about 16 wave-format songs. It's a more compact way to store music.

how to speed up the mp3
is there possibility to change the speed of mp3 file?
i have some mp3 made of vinyl Maxi Singel (with lower RPM) but when they were grabbed my friend forgot to change the RPM of gramophone ...
so now they are to slow ... is there way to convert them to normal speed ?
Time stretching
Time stretching changes the speed of an audio track without affecting the pitch. This works well upto a point. If you try and change the speed too much then you can hear the sound quality changing too, to the point of ridiculousness. Most audio editors offer this feature although there is a few utilities to do this. Have you checked the file area on this board???
I suspect you will have to convert the Mp3 to an uncompressed format for some convertors so grab yourself an Mp3> wave convertor while your there..

If the vinyl has been sampled whilst the record player was running slow, then you should not use time stretching, you just need to use some software to resample or playback the sample at a different rate. Remember, that because you friend has sampled a slow playing record both its bpm and pitch will be wrong so you do not need to compensate for just pitch (pitch shifting) or just bpm time (time stretching).As steve says you will need a mp3 to wav converter and a wav to mp3 converter if you want to process it and put it back into an mp3. Fruity Loops can pitch samples (note: pitching samples is not the same as pitch shifting or time stretching) just load your wav into fruity and use its keyboard, select a higher note and the sample will play back faster (faster bpm and at a higher pitch), I think Fruity also has a fine pitch control option so you can be really accurate. Fruity allows you to then export it as a wav. Note: Fruity Loops is probably not the best software to do this job but alas it is the only one I can think of at the moment and it should work, or try GigaSampler ~ it seems like nearly all audio software editors add the ability to time stretch/pitch shift but are missing the simple linear playback rate change using semitones and +/- 100 fine pitch control. Loosing quality!
Double conversion from mp3 to wav and back from wav to mp3 will result in significant quality loss. Intresting enough, is there any program in the world to convert MP3 to MP3? :)
The sample rate is written in the frequency field of mp3 file.
Theoreticaly it seems possible to change it's value, as well as some other parameters. Imagine, just rewriting some figures without any reconvertion of audio data! Http://www.id3.org/mp3frame.html gives in-depth description of mp3 file data structure.

several programs that can do it.

Nero slows down from 4x to 2x write
I use Nero 5.0
Up to now I was able to burn music disk with 4x speed.
Recently the speed dropped down to 2x, although Nero says it's 4x, as I asked.
I use the same blank CD's and don't run any other havy applications. When the speed was ok at 4x, I could run easely other applications.
Can anyone help me?

When you copy wavs from hard disk to a blank CD (or from a CD, when image option is used), you shouldn't run any application as a general rule. Write errors are usually resulted from running other tasks, or trying to copy scratched or dirty CDs.
Since your problem though is speed, compare the needed time to burn a cd with no running tasks (virus killers are the most common problem), to the time needed to burn the same CD with your usual applications running.
Some CDs have a habbit of taking longer than others to be copied (even if they have the same duration)...

I bought the composing software called "Music Time Deluxe a few months ago, and since then, despite tinkering around with options endlessly, I have yet to get the desired results. Here's my problem:
No matter how simple of music I'm playing, (I'm using a Roland EM-10 by the way), it never writes out the music the way I played it. It seems to skip random notes, add a note in this chord, take away something, miscount something etc. It's just not very accurate at all. Normally, I'd just be pissed and say it's crappy software, but my friend has MusicTime Deluxe also, and it runs perfectly for him. I was amazed when I played a C Major Scale in eighth notes, and it wrote them out exactly how I played them. He said he had to tinker around with options and stuff for awhile to get it working as desired, (i.e. not giving him the crap that mine is giving me), but he didn't know for sure what exactly he'd changed that had made the difference.
Basically, how it's written out doesn't matter all too much to me, I just want the playback to be accurate.

Downloading midi files in SMFO format for a casio keyboard
I have just purchased a casio keyboard that can only read mid files in the O format - I am having problems finding anywhere to download this type on the net. Does anyone know some good sites with this type of free download or is there a way I can convert the files that i have into this format.
Your help would be appreciated.

I use a mac and therefore don't usually recommend windows programs to people but I will assume this once (only without telling us your platform) that you have a windows machine and if this is the case, you could look at this program

Help Please......Wavelab and Digi OO1 conflict...;.
Hey there yall, wondering if anyone knows how to go about changing back .wav files to their original form once Wavelab has been uninstalled. When I installed Wavelab the other day it turned all of my .wav's to Wavelab.wav file types. Ever since this happened my Digi 001 Pro Tools sessions have been crashing, and I can't preview any of my tracks...I uninstalled Wavelab and unfortunately all of my wav's are still Wavelab.wav Any thoughts????

If i got it right your wav files are still associated with wavelab. Install any wav player and reassociate them from player's options...
How do I edit out the vocals to a music track?
I'm a new user to Cool Edit Pro, but I'm not so great at learning new software. How would I go about editing out vocals in a wav file?

As I've pointed out on numerous occasions, removing the vocals from a piece
of music without affecting the music is impossible.
In theory, there are two ways you could attempt it. One is to use filters to
remove the frequencies where the vocals lie, but that also removes any
instrument that plays in the same region. If you try and remove the vocalist
by removing part of the soundstage (i.e. the vocalist's position), then you
remove anything that happens to be in the same place.

sounds in and out of G4 Cube
Anybody have any idea how i can get sounds into a G4 Cube...the machine has a standard soundcard, but no apparent in/out...i can't believe that there's no way of recording sounds into the machine (would ideally like avoiding having to buy a s/crd+breakout box)...have i missed something...or am i being a pleb???responses would be greatly appreciated.

Apple has gone all digital, with digital amps in newer models. For some reason, they missed out the audio ins and outs (i'm sure this is the case with the cube), but don't panic as there are more and more USB and Firewire audio solutions. The cheap one that basically gives you back your audio in/out (with a mic input) is the iMic by Griffin and although you have to pay a small sum for it, it does provide a USB audio input/output which is going to be better quality than the older macs minijack in/out. Go see and check out the reviews as I haven't yet....

I want to burn an audio cd. obviously.
i want the first 10 tracks without gaps (live songs), but still spereately tracked (not merged as 1) but the rest of the tracks i want with the gap as they are seperate songs.
im using adaptec cd creator
please reply prvately.

If you like EZ CD creator only - try to use some audio editor(like Sound Forge or similar) and add (with "insert silent" function) 2 or 3 seconds at the end of songs (not first 10 but others) and next use Adaptec's "Disk at once". This is not the same as real gaps but if you don't wathing CD player's display you can't hear the difference :)

This is a message board so I think everyone should have the opportunity to benefit from the answers given -
I know that Nero will let you set the gap time differently on individual tracks. If you want to keep using EZ CD I suggest you upgrade to the latest verion because the earlier versions were useless.

we are using logic 4.7 with audiowerk8 is there a common solution to this
Record levels also....
Keep an eye on those digital record levels.. I'm not saying this IS the problem but digital overload is a strange beast and it may help to understand the 0db rule.To say, anything over 0db is subject to distortion and digital distortion is a nasty beasty...

Usually clicks are produced, when latency is set to lower numbers. Try increasing it (overall settings might need adjusting too, like buffers, number of channels etc), make sure to read troubleshooting section on manual...

I have just bought a Evolution -mk-149 midi keyboard...And the problem is that when i use my sound studio software all the sound is o.k .but when i use my external keyboard it makes no sound out all ,its like it aint even communicating...

Check cables first (replace midi cables), make sure to enable midi in, choose an instrument from your software & finally check midi volumes...
If all fails, repost with more details, like soundcard, software, etc...

The cable im using i think is o.k because it is a self powered cable and the lights are showing on the midi...The software im using is SOUND STUDIO and thats the software that cam with the midi...The sound card im using is a SOUNDMAX DIGITAL AUDIO card....When i phoned up Evolution they said that i may need 2 change my bios settings but both them and myself was unclear of how 2 do it, "alot off help they were"..

no that not matter cause your sequencer over rides these settings. just make sure sequencer is set right. Bios is usually entered at startup. hold down Delete key when booting + the bios should open. u can then look 4 any midi stuff.

Make sure that the midi-in cable goes to the midi-out port on your keyboard, and vice-versa. Tripped me up the first time. :) Hope that works.

Encore 4.21
Hello All.
I having a problem here, I wonder if someone could help me.
I recently sold an old K5 166 Mhz to a friend. Instaled Windows 95 and Encore 4.21 in it, cause she's a musician, and she'd like to use her old files, done in an IBM Ativa P75 with Win95 and Encore 4.21 also.
For my surprise, in K5 the Encore archives were not opened, Windows returns me a Page Fault Error.
I tried to change the sound card, tried to open on a Pentium machine, but the problem persists, tried Windows 98 and 2K.
Could someone help me find the problem ?
