Try the downloading section on this site, use the trials to make sure what fits your needs, and then buy it...

cda file does not play on computer but on stereo

What do I need to do to play the cda files on my computer? I can listen to the cd on the stereo. I have down loaded the optimal media player but it still does not work. I would appreciate suggestions.

You have to nake sure the cable (the little one) from the CD-Rom you want to use is connected to your soundcard (open the case of your computer and check if it's there, if not contact your PC dealer). Depending on the soundcard you might have to choose the CD-Rom that will play audio from the soundcard's settings...

I have it and it works real nice - unfortunately I can't remember on which site I found it ;-(

Try " Total Recorder " - check 'stereo out' and save .RA to .WAV. in real time.

Finale, scanning printed music to convert to jazz font

Using Finale, can I scan a piece of printed music, a lead sheet for example, and convert it to jazz font? If so, how is this accomplished? Will I still have all my hair when I'm finished?

I set up winamp on my laptop, but the sound quality is pretty bad. In fact, no matter what mp3 player I use, I get poor sound quality. I increased the buffer time and priority setting in Winamp which helped a little bit, but not much. I've downloaded through both a 56k and a cable modem, and no luck. The stereo I run into the laptop works perfectly fine, so I'm thinking it might be the amount of RAM. I only have 261,616 KB of RAM (I know, it's nothing)so I'm wondering if this may be affecting the sound quality. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like your RAM. Try shutting down all unnecessary programs and start again. You might have an improvement.

i just downloaded the mplayppc & mplay83 -- i'd like to import my sounds (format:mp3) to our personal webpage and i tried doing the convert mp3 to wav but taking too much KB's...can't upload too big!!! so i figure trying other files that can convert mp3...so now, i got the mplay -- please help me how i can have my mp3 sounds to aiff or midi files????

Does anyone know of a site with info that´ll help me improve the quality of my final mixes.
I use cakewalk for composing and when ready with a masterpiece (as I consider it), I sample it into soundforge. But when everything is burned on the CD I am no longer satisfied with result.
I always normailize the whole song, but the signal is still lower than proffesionally produced tracks. I also never get the panning right. If i try, it sounds weird, one instrument being far to much in one speaker or too much played in the middle of the sound-picture. Should I use compression on the whole song or not? Should I reverb the whole song, even though some tracks already have effects applied?
Help me out!!

Did you try cakewalk's mixdown feature?
Almost all of the music you buy on CDs is compressed.
Equalization is propably the most essential science you (me and everyone) need to master to have better results.

I'm afraid I don't know a good site, but one quick point - don't put an overall reverb on your entire track. As a rule, you don't want reverb on bass or kick drum as it will sound crap.

I have the same problems trying to get a decent signal level out of my setup, so you're not alone.

clashing swords noise on recording

I'm using CoolPro Edit for recording. I've done the tracks, put the effects on, done the mixdown, done a high end boost, etc. Final result sounds beautiful until I go and record it on the cd. When the file goes onto the music CD, it has a clashing swords noise over top. I am using a 1.33 G processor and an LG 12X 8X 32X CD burner so the equipment is all fairly new. I used the same program and CD burner on an older computer and never experienced these problems. Any ideas?

Howdy.
I experienced a similiar incident when I was trying to burn some graphic design work I created onto a CD. It ended up being a corrupted "extension". (I use a Mac, and I am not sure if PC also has/uses extensions. I would assume so).
On a Mac, we have a program called "Extensions Manager". I used it to verify my extensions, and discovered the problem then. All I had to do was download a new copy of the corrupted file, and replace and trash the offending colprate. lol
Like I said before, I don't know if PC also uses extensions, but I would have to assume so. So, hopefully you can translate my gibberish into something that will be helpfull.

hmmm.. Windows does use file extensions but I don't know how I would go about finding out if one of them were corrupted. Basically, if a file has a wrong extension, the program won't run it. Perhaps I will delete the cd recording program and reload it - if it fixes the problem I will post it here - otherwise please keep the suggestions coming.

I found that Windows 2000 NT played havoc with fruity loops. Screwed everything up, i ended up having to format my hd and put 98 back onto my laptop......as far as MIDI goes, there are a number of usb MIDI interfaces available.....don't know of any that support both audio and MIDI in the same unit tho...that said doesn't mean there isn't one about....whatever you buy, make sure you have enough RAM..fruity loops effects can guzzle up memory...128Mb should do the job...

The program works fine and all the psFonts are installed but my problem is that the score itself displays weird symbols instead of notes, bar lines, clefs, etc. Can someone please help me figure it out? I use RipEditBurn from www.blazeaudio.com. You can use either EQ or editing to improve noise problems, and it has a lot of useful features like normalization that help in creating good CDs.

MP 3 to wav coverters

Are there any "Programs" out there that can convert MP 3's on a "CDR" to wav files? I know you can comvert MP 3 "files" to wav.
Also, why would you want to convert wav files to MP 3. Don't wav files sound better than MP 3's? Thanks. Phil

Mp3 to Wave Converter is good.
A trained ear can easily distinguish even a 320kb/sec mp3 from a wav file...
