Anybody doing a remix will need a multi track copy of the master or 'studio' tape. This has all the instruments/vocals on seperate tracks so that each sound can be manipulated. You can't remix properly without master tape only chop up sections etc with an audio editor. A plugin called AnalogX Vocal Remover removes vocals with limited success from a stereo track. But hold on you want the vocal track only? Well the only option really is to obtain the master or try EQing the mix cutting all frequencies other than where the vocal is - not ideal!

Bottom line answer is no. I've tested the products mentioned in the other responses and although they may be good enough for limited sound quality for personal use,
for studio quality good enough to be picked up
by the record company for possible release you will in fact need the original accapella recording master. Sometimes you can find them as
an extra track on the 12" single (vinyl or CD and
CD would be better as it is digital vice analog) but I have only found them on R&B/Hip Hop songs not much if any on the Pop and house songs. But don't let that stop you. If the song is not over produced with ton's of sounds flowing thru it you can still turn out a pretty decent mix with overlaying samples or original scores, new drum tracks, tempo shifts, and cut and pasting (editing) the hell out of it! Listen to some of the remixes done by remix services such as X-mix,
Ultimix/Funkymix, Wicked mix, Street Tracks, and others and you can get the idea. Good Luck!

Some people spend a LOT of their personal time trying to sort out problems and have the decency to return to see if their message has made a difference, only to find that the person has left their E-mail address expecting to have the mail forwarded to them as well with obviously no intention of returning. I c.c. to peoples E-mail on occasion but may stop now altogether.

There are a lot of good people out there trying to help but their numbers will continue to drop unless you have some respect for the fact that they have come here mainly to help YOU, just to have sand kicked in their face. I like helping people when I have time but resent typing a reply to myself...

Yes this very comon question has been answered below A FEW TIMES!!!!!

In short if u have a sequencer you can play the midi file + record it onto an audio track in sequencer at same time. Also I heard u can play the file + record the sound from your soundcard with MS sound recorder also at same time.

plug-ins and midi files

i am using a yamaha cs1x keyboard through a creative labs awe 64 soundcard and i need to know how i can access plug-ins (i.e roland sounds, other drum plug-ins, etc) via cakewalk pro audio 9? also, my yamaha uses xg sounds (which are load into cakewalk) but when i played one of my midi files, i didn't hear the yamaha sounds. it sounded like pc sounds. any suggestions? thanks

It's out of the question but I see alot of programs convert wav to midi files, but it's very hard to find programs that convert midi to wav or mp3 files. Some midi's are the creation of a very creative people, and they make creative music. Therefore if you want to rip the midi to a cd, you can spend 30mins to 1hr looking for the software to do that. At last, I only found one that do that and it's quite lame.

Digital Performer has a Folder called Midi file Converter.
It convert's anything into midi so u can import it in wichever program you want.
I use it for opening files in the Midi Sequencer of Protools.

There is a program but I don't know it's name I'm affraid. The process relies on u or your soundcard supplying midi sounds which the program attempts to match up. Look round www.sonicspot.com and this sites software section if u can find it because I can't!

I am responding to your mail regarding ""Incorrect command line
parameters" error message. I recommend the following troubleshooting
steps.

1. Uninstall ALL cd burning software through add/remove programs
2. Before rebooting, do a find on the following files in the drive
where the OS is installed, and change the extensions to .old if found
(eg: cdr4vsd.vxd would be cdr4vsd.old)

a. Cdr4vsd.vxd
b. Cdr4vsd.sys
c. Cdr4dll.dll
d. Cdral.dll
e. Cdrtc.dll

3. Go to C:\program files and remove the "Adaptec" folder.
Go to C:\program files\Common files and remove the "Adaptec
Shared" folder.

*Note* the next step involves editing your system registry We strongly
recommend you export your registry before attempting any editing.
Please note that editing your registry incorrectly can cause
irreparable system damage. We recommend that if you do not feel
comfortable editing your registry that you skip this step.

4. Go to start/run and type regedit.

5. Go to HKey_Local_Machine/software/Adaptec. Remove the Adaptec
Shared key.
Go to HKey_Current_User/software/Adaptec. Remove the Adaptec
Shared key.

6. Exit the registry editor.

7. Reboot into safe mode.

8. Try installing the software again.

9. Reboot the system

10. Download and run the 5.02c patch from our website at
http://www.roxio.com/en/support/winupdates.html

This should fix the issue, if not, I recommend calling into technical
support for further troubleshooting.

messing with the card settings is fine but have u had a look at Cubasis's audio settings??? You need to select the card as output and maybe also 'enable audio' under something. I have Qbase VST 5 so your problem is a bit below me as you can imagine;)

Can anyone help, or at least tell me where to find the
answer to this problem. I have just bought a Ricoh
MP7120A CDR, and Nero 5.018 came with it. Everything
works well except when I try to drag .cda files from
an audio cd into a new (audio cd) compilation with
Nero, it gives the following error....

"Sorry,Nero cannot determine the SCSI/Atapi device,
that corresponds with this drive letter.

Reasons for this may be:
-reading .cda from a recorder, which is not supported
-the source drive does not support CDDA reading
-the source drive reads CDDA too slowly
-the Nero driver is not installed or not working properly"

Yet if I use the same proceedure to create a data CD,
it transfer's fine ?!?
Can you offer any suggestions ? I am running Win95 B.
