complaint against software Phatboy
sir
I have tried atleast 12 times to download the Phatboy software
and always failed infact I dont think there is anyone who has done so.
Kindly look into the same to help others stop wasting their time
I have asked them to send by mail the software thry my e-mail
would apreciate if you could follow up
DMA, CD-R/RW, UDMA, CD-ROM - ????
HI GUYS!
I am fairly new (but totally obsessed!), and am having a few problems setting up my burner properly - most of this has arisen through cutting costs - there is a langusge problem...in short, finally have 80pin lead from M/board to HDD = UDMA66, installed DMA tool for VIA MPV4 -says HDD is UDMA, says DiamondData 50x is UDMA, says Mustek (I paid for GL - long story...!)4x4x32 is DMA - stuff in SYSTEMS/Devices no longer refers to DMA stuff since installation of VIA DMAtool - is it correct that I should, or shouldn't tick that box?
I am using Easy CD Creator 4 Deluxe, and Cool Edit 1.1 (I have stacks of old vinyl - my setup plugs into my Hi-Fi (Pioneer, BOSE, etc etc).
Am also running 98lite, which REALLY gets my AMD K6-2 450 up & jumping!!! Faster than any off the showroom floor Pentium 3 - it's a freebie 98lite.com.
which a friend of mine turned me on to.
Thanks for a great service, yours sincerely,
Doug McKeon.

recording and dj
Does anybody know what do you ues to repeat a word in a song like make it double. I also want to know when you want to start recording what is good to buy first that works good, but don't cost that much. If anybody knows please post it up.
Thank you
Re: recording and dj
To double a word IN a song u can use a wav-editor or ???-editor for other file-types. The most common effect to double a piece of music or sound is a DELAY. Lots of editors have an option for creating delays or u can use a plugin for other software, like VST, VST2 or DirectX-plugins. You can often change the number of delays, the volume/outputlevel, pitch, cutoff, resonance etc.
If you want to start recording stuff, don't start with BUYING something, but explore the internet, looking for freeware/shareware/demo-versions of recording programs (naturally: check the shareware music machine categories). After trying out a few of them, you will have a better idea of what type of program you need. Then consider buying one. If you want to use samples to create your own music, a good start would be FruityLoops.
If you want to use external equipment, like using microphones, check out multitrack-editors.
Hope i helped u a little bit,
Plaswekker
Re: recording and dj
I agree with Plasswekker for doubling a word. For
recording inexpensive high quality digital music
I recommend Mini-Disc. It is a lot cheaper then DAT
and easier to work with than CD Recorders. After
you've recorded to mini-disk, you can run the players
output to a cd recorder if you would rather have
it in CD form.

Recording a synthetic guitar
Have a GK2A/GR30/SBLive setup, but what equipment do I need to record analog (on CD or whatever)? MIDI is good, but reproducing the guitar is (much) less than perfect without an edition step...
cooledit 2000
I d/led the demo version from your site, installed it and tried to run it.
The splash screen comes on asks me to choose two categories,
I do,
and the splash screen goes away and
nothing happens....
I wait and wait, repeat the process and wait...
nothing
I tried the help file, it comes up and lets me look through it.
But the actual software has yet to even ask me to open a file.
SO?
Do you have any other software that lets me convert wav files to mp3?
thanks for your help

device controlling from cubase
I have been trying unsuccessfully now for a good few weeks to control my mc303 from VST. I just want to use the drums from the 303, however all the outgoing channels on cubase produce sound on the 303. I am sure there is an easy solution to the problem, however I don't have the instruction manuals of either, so a bit of help on how to set the device identity would be greatly appreciated.
Re: device controlling from cubase
The best thing to do is to get the mixer map for the MC 303. Take a look at www.synthzone.com

Fatboy Slim's 'Funk soul brother'
I used to have a program that morphed a wav file between one group of settings (to do with speed, granulation etc.) to another, as in F. Slim's classic speeding up breakdown. It was shareware or freeware and was brilliant. Does anyone know where I can find it?
Re: Fatboy Slim's 'Funk soul brother'
i think you're looking for a program called granulab, you can find it here http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/GranuLab_win32/ it alows you to morph between different granualation/time strech settings, it's ace.
Time stretch...
I think he used timestretching. Tempo change with pitch changing the material. I assume there is a way of taking a wave file and selecting an area and then time stretching with essentially a fade time between the initial route tempo of the material and the final stretched time setting. I wouldn't be suprised if this was possible with some basic time stretching software. There is a specific program for this although I don't recall the name. It was reviewed in a previous issue of Computer Music, (UK, but recommended).
Not much help but at least you know more about what to ask for on different forums.
Steve...R
Rockafella Skank - check it out now, the funk soul brother
I no expert but listening to it sounds like the rythum track is largely just speeded up + slowed down as in changing tempo in a sequencer. Vocals on other hand stay in same pitch/change tempo but don't seem to be 'fluid' in the sense of continuous speed variation. The effect could have been achieved by putting the vocal line into a sampler then playing it on different keys? Certainly the vocal + backing tracks have been manipulated seperately.
Doesn't Acid Wav automatically time stretch sample? Here are some of it's features as reported on www.sonicspot.com! -
Time Editing - echo, reverb, reverse, stretch, tremolo, vibrato, chorus, flange, ring modulate
Amplitude Editing - amplify, envelop, maximize, offset, invert, gate, clip, distort, rectify, quantize, interpolate, gated delete, compress/expand
Frequency Editing - low/high/band pass filtering, band stop, resonate, notch, equalize, convolve, vocode, resample, modulate, pitch shift, reduce noise

Right, here's the deal. If you want to record the output from your MP3 DJing program to wav and you don't have one that has built in recording, forget about utilities like Total Recorder and Virtual Cable. Total Recorder seems to have problems recording the output of other programs through it's virtual driver unless you can set the output sound device to Wave Mapper or Automatic. Most MP3 mixing programs won't let you do that. If your program does let you set the main output to either Wave Mapper or Automatic, then you can probably use Total Recorder. Virtual Cable has enough of a delay between the input and output devices that in most programs I noticed a slower response time when pressing play. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist. The quality of MP3 has enough problems that I don't like the idea of using an analogue connection between two sound cards either. So after a lot of frustration, I finally figured it out. Here's what you have to do. Step 1: First you need at least one duplex sound card. Not much of a problem most of them are these days. Set your programs main output to a duplex sound card and the headphones to a second one if you have one. Step 2: Go into Control Panel under the Start Menu under settings. Open Multimedia. In the Audio Tab check to see if the Sound Card you set as the main output in your DJ program is the selected Playback device. Step 3: Click on the Playback button. If in step 2 the card you set as your main output in your program was the selected Playback device, make sure that Wave is selected and that the volume is set to something reasonable. It should say Wave or Wave/DirectSound or something like that. If you don't see it or if in step 2 the card you selected as your main output in your program wasn't the selected Playback device, click on the Options Menu, click on Properties, select the Mixer Device for the sound card you set as the main output for your program and make sure Adjust volume for Playback is selected. In the list select Wave or Wave/DirectSound and click OK. Now you should see it. Make sure it's selected and set the volume. Then close the Play Control window. Step 4: In the Audio Tab check to see if the Sound Card you set as the main output in your DJ program is the selected Recording device. Step 5: Click on the Recording button. If in step 4 the card you set as your main output in your program was the selected Recording device, make sure that Wave is selected and that the volume is set to something reasonable. If you don't see it or if in step 4 the card you selected as your main output in your program wasn't the selected Recording device, click on the Options Menu, click on Properties, select the Mixer Device for the sound card you set as the main output for your program and make sure Adjust volume for Recording is selected. In the list select Wave. Warning! If you don't have a duplex sound card you may not see it listed. Click OK. Now you should see it. Make sure it's selected and set the volume. Then close the Record Control window. Click OK to close Multimedia Properties and then close Control Panel. Step 6: Run your DJ program and a recording program. In your recording programs options set the recording device to the same one as the main output for your DJ program. If your recording program doesn't allow you to set the sound devices internally )most of them do), you'll have to set the sound card you selected in your DJ program as your Recording Preferred device in Multimedia. Start recording and what you mix should be recorded. Some mixing programs will take over your sound card. In this case you'll either have to wait until you close your DJ program to playback what you've recorded or you'll have to set your recording programs output to another device internally or in Multimedia. I know this isn't what you were asking about, but I posted this message on another board and it's basically the same process if you want to record from WAV to WAV.
Re: recording wav-output to wav-input
Bile,
I might have a solution: if you have more than one/ several different programs installed with which you can play wav-files, try running two at the same time, using one for play/output and the other for record/input. For instance: play a file in WinAmp and record with e.g. Voyetra AudioStation. Works on my pc, but not on some friends'pc's, so it's a gamble...
Not all programs can be combined in this way, but a lot can.
Good luck,
Plaswekker

.mov to wav. conversion?

Is there a way to get softsynths to "grow" sounds?
There are programs that can play random/semi random MIDI note sequences. Band-in-a-box, Sounder.
But are there programs that will allow timbres to mutate randomly/semi randomly over time? A program that would tweak a softsynth's parameters over time?Maybe something that would apply and tweak filters on a WAV file?
I imagine this kind of machine. You turn it on and point it to a sine wave. After a few minutes,it sounds like an alien voice. A few minutes later,it's turned into a horde of bats panning left and right, and so on...

Cubase VST delay on audio
I'm using Cubase VST and I'm getting a delay when recording a track. I've messed around with the thru and baically don't know what or why this happens. Was-up? Anyone?
emulated soundcard?
The 'Thru' fuction is a midi facility only - it allows midi signals recieved by Cubase to be resent to another piece of midi kit.
If you're using an emulated soundcard such as Yamaha's SY-XG50 or a Roland equivalent then don't! Select your hardware soundcard instead in audio Options/MME whatever OK. The 'soft' soundcards need a delay to process information.
steve
Re: Cubase VST delay on audio
It sounds like it could be your sound card. What tye are you using? Some cheaper sound cards have a delay.
