Electric guitar: run the line out of your amp into the line in on the sound card. Select "Line" for the record source.

Acoustic: get a real mic, don't use the cheep one that came with your computer. The Sony Mini Disk mics will plug right into the 1/8" jack on your computer. But I would suggest an out board mixer. Berhinger is my fav.

Software: check out the multi track section on this site.

wav sounds for cellular phone

Hi,
I invent games for mobile phones.
Nokia's phones allow only wav files in java games.
How do i make a wav file to be sound the best but waight a very little.
I have gold wav and have able to drop 1M into 10K but aound is very week.
Is there any sort of filter or effect that might leave the sound as good or allmost as good.

Any help?

Bias peak 3.0 recording problems Mac OSX

I am having recording problems with peak 3.0. When I record from vinyl through a my mixer (regular DJ mixer) into peak the sound comes out very slow and it sounds like its clipping slightly. I have installed an audiophile 2496 soundcard and have configured all my settings according to the manual. There is one setting I'm not sure about which is under the audio dialogue which gives me a choice of
Firewire DV
MAC OSX Audio HAL
MAC OSX Audio HAL (System)
Core Audio
And my Audiophile card isn't there. Could this be the problem? Can any one help. I've read the manual over and over again.

Although i use OSX, I still use OS9 for audio (and midi although I can do midi in OSX) due to my legacy audiocard. I am under the impression though that you set up your audio hardware with

APPLICATIONS>UTILITIES>AUDIO MIDI SETUP and then just address the application towards the core audio. I am weak on this information at present and recommend you go and ask the same question here...

I've updated my mac to os x and have just got cubase sl, but is it possible to run my old plugins for cubase vst on the new version because i've got tons, i've tried to do it but with the different setup i dont know where to put them, if at all this is possible?

Audio Card/ Drum Notation

Can anybody give advice on the following :

1. I installed an audiowerk 2 to my mac G3 (beige tower / Cubase 4.0/ OS 8.5) - no recognition of card output in monitors & sound (apple menu) - audio appears in cubase master mixer tho'

2. can anybody recommend a software programme for mac to use for scoring drum kit (I teach) - Sibelius/Finale anygood?

Did you install the audiowerk 2 drivers?

No advice on the drum scoring stuff. Most of the sequencers these days have grid editing for drums and general notes and velocities.

I want record my voice in one track with
MIDI accompaniment
I convert later to wav using soundfonts)
with audio compositor).
The accompaniment part is OK

However, the voice part over my microphone
is not good.
So, How Cool edit (Sound Forge, Gold Wave,
Nero wave Editor)can help me to make the quality
of the audio of my voice I produce with
poor microphone (is not condenser in not dynamic)
white microphone, (is seel with PCs)more high(good)?

What features of these program can help?

You are going to have to get a decent microphone, and a good mic pre amp. The one that is in your computer is terrible. It's really a telephone equivalent of a mic. For singing get a better mic and an external pre amp. Most mixers have a fine mic pre.

If you don't want to spend any cash the best I can sugests is boost the upper mids to bring out the crispness that seems to be flattened by those cheep mics. There will be a lot of extra noise in this band (which is why the drop most of it out in the pre amp) so do a noise reduction. A little reverb or chorusing never hurts, but just a little! I'd drop off most everything above 8k. there is not much useable up there on the cheep computer mics. It's too bad, that is such a sparkly band. If you want to play with the bass to take out some mud, or give it some boom, have fun. the low mids will give it some body, guts, or presence depending on your voice, and what freqs you call low mids.
