Thanks very much. I also happen to be in the exact same situation. I have an X5D and a Windows PC with XP. I was very glad to see that emagic (www.emagic.de) had a version of Logic that still works with PC's called Logic Fun.

You could download ProTools free although it isn't known for it's midi prowess..

The new Digi 002 "HELP"

OK I've never used protools every. I pick up the Digi 002 because of the controller "dope". I use a PC computer witch runs great. I love SONOR and SONIC FOUNDERY stuff. Some one told me the I can't use all my plug-ins(3rd party)because the new Digi 002 only can use 96k plug-ins and that when I register on line I have to buy all new ones. Is this True and is protools realy all that. I mean most of all the programs are doing the same these days. It's just that this Digi 002 Controller they designed is hard to pass up. All the different I/O's this thing has is great. Also is the new ASIO Driver that Protools added going to let this controller work with other programs . So if I do not like protools I still can use this controller. I'm trying to find a standard program and this Digidesign sold me on the controller. Help!

It's really easy to write your own software to record internet radio like Shoutcast. I wrote my own little program to do this. http://www.monkeyheadsoftware.com. You can find some code to do this as well at www.planetsourcecode.com too.

I can recommend Audacity. I found it in a VNUNet mag, PCWorld. Put Audacity into Google and it will give you the site. It is freeware, it works and it's brilliant. It is so simple, which suits me! Just click record when you have a station on, and away you go. I had tried loads of others before I discovered this. Cheers.

All you need is some CD burning software. If you have the CD burner, you should have got some software for it.

What computer, CD burner etc..

I have heard the name Nero thrown around here. If it's anything like Toast on the mac then you should really have a copy...

Korg and sequencer Trouble

How do you mean, Not Record on your Sequencing program.

What program for starters? What type of recording, Midi?? Audio??

People can often help people with their problems here but with such a scant offering of details, you should be surprised you got a reply at all..

Using QuickTime as playback device for sequencer on Windows?

This is possible on Mac, of course, but I would also like to find a driver or some other way of making QuickTime show up in a sequencer as a playback device on Windows. An example of this on Windows might be the Roland VSC which installs a driver allowing it to be used as a playback device.

I need to find a freeware cross-platform solution to using custom sounfonts with a particular sequencer that doesn't support soundfonts in itself.

On the Mac, the solution is to load the soundfont into QuickTime and use FreeMIDI or OMS to route the MIDI from the sequencer to QT resulting in playback with the custom soundfont.

Is there any 3rd party drivers or other utilities that make this possible on Windows with QT? Is it already possible within QT itself?

From everything I have read on the Apple Web site about Quick Time 6.4, it will play back MIDI files, provided they are already created. It is NOT a squencer itself. You are supposed to be able to load the Soundfont files directly into QT for playback so you wouldn't need to do the complicated import of Soundfonts into QT, then QTs into your sequencer. There are also some software sequencers which now accept Soundfonts directly. For a list of Soundfont-compatible software and hardware see this good link:

Roland JW 50, Song Edit Problems

Hi, I have just purchased a second hand Roland JW50. Everything works fine except the song edit function. It was working and then I reset the keyboard to factory settings and now it doesn't work at all. Please help. Have I somehow turned this function off? If so how do I turn it back on again?
