: There are many many posters on these forums and the problem's are that people post and then don't come back for the replies. The percentage was very very high. So it seems foolish to generate emails for all of those lazy people.

: The recently installed emailing notification system here has assisted Rimmer and other contributors as well as the thread starters in making a connection with their posts. There is no need to enhance this feature because they have proven that it already works well enough without generating senseless amounts of bandwidth trash.

: To some extent, I suspect that many of the thread starters are logically challenged and if they have this much trouble clicking a checkbox, then they are going to be severely handicapped with understanding technical advice or even how to open and read their email. The time spent reading people asking for them to be emailed with replies (not uncommon even now) says everything to me about how much these people are aware of how things work, even if they are written in front of those noses.

The original thread was posted by Rimmer as an experience and desire to improve the sensation of this forum for the regular posters and the questioners themselves. I'm not sure what Rimmer meant about the "sensation" of the forum, but if it's sensationalism he meant, then I guess it just goes to show that he's just trying to create controversy out of an otherwise stable situation.
