Don't think Cakewalk can do the conversion you want, it only appears to convert to MP3.

Go to www.cdex.n3.net and download CDex. It's free, and it'll do WAV to MP3 and vice-versa.

I have a new CD player that can play .mp3 files, the problem is, I can't figure out how to convert .rmj (RealMedia) files into .mp3. If you know of a good converter softweare, it'd help. Thanks,

You could try http://ra2wav.hypermart.net/, or Streambox Ripper (which is supposed to), or SoundCapture from Magicsofts, which records everything from your soundcard irrespective of source. CDex will then handle the WAV to MP3 conversion. A bit long-winded, but it gets the job done if all else fails.

Converting Instrumental to Acapella

Hi,

I highly doubt this can be done, but i thought i'd take a shot at it. Is there a way to convert an exsisting mp3/wav of piano solo music (or piano + other instruments) and make it sound as if they are actaully people singing acapella -- with Cool Edit Pro, Sound FOrge, etc.? I'm not sure exactly what you mean, there are two
possibilities and I think the second one may be the one
you're looking for...

<b>1. Add Singing</b>

You can do this in either of the programs you mention
by importing the WAV file into the program and recording
the singing on additional tracks.

<b>2. Convert a solo piano into singing</b>

Firstly you need to convert the WAV file into MIDI by
using a polyphonic WAV to MIDI converter such as
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/IntelliScore_Polyphonic/" target="blank">IntelliScore Polyphonic</a> - you can find more of these
programs at
<a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/FORMAT_CONVERTERS/" target="blankk">http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/cat/FORMAT_CONVERTERS/</a>.

Then once you have a MIDI file you can play the music
back through a synth using Vocal sounds - you won't get
lyrics but you can use solo and choir singing voices.

This is the error I get when I try to record in MP3 format. "am237.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program."
I restarted, rebooted and uninstalled and reinstalled.
I have been using this program daily, including this morning. I tried calling you this morning and left a message to call me at (513) 863-6178 or my cell phone @ (513) 706-9629.
A new observation: Audio Magic records in wav format okay; the error is when I record to MP3.
I can convert from wav to mpe, which is what I am doing right now.
Note: When I uninstalled and reinstalled, I still had the same settings for timer recording. How can this be? I made sure the directory was gone after I uninstalled.
I sent a similar message 7/24 and got no response.

I installed pc-cillin 2002 between when it worked and when it didn't. I exited the program and then tried to run am237. Still an error.
P.S. - pc-cillin found no viruses on my machine.

To record MP3's you have to install the LAME DLL (lame_enc.dll) first. You can find the .dll for free on many internet sites. Just search Google and give that a whirl. I love the software. W/ the LAME dll, It records MP3's flawlessly.

I dont have the dll what ever to download files..BLAST!

While attempting to burn a backup copy of a cd, I get a message telling me that I have an unregistered version of Just!audio. This all came installed in my computer. I didnot receive a separate disk to install. I went to Compaq quick restore and it reloaded the software, and I still got the message telling me to reload the software, where or how do I enter the registration? My computer gave me the following message, I guess it is the registration#. ******-***-*** Just!burn c#2.50 Rev.b pass: * *****

Had similar problem on Compaq 7478 Presario.Now Compaqs come with Adaptec's EZ CD creater or whatever the CDRW suggests they use! Just burn I can't use because it won;t recognize my Sony CDRW CRX 160E! This CDRWE came with B's CLip Gold software which had to be updated. If you have Real Player You can update to Real player one,free version record's at twice reading speed.Upgrade records a lot faster. CeQuadrat is no longer a Company. Their website is gone, they were purchased by Roxio.Their EZ CD Creater is available as a plug in for Real Player One!If you still want to use Just Burn, you may need updated drivers! Check Compaq's Support site or E-mail them there. I ask for help all the time, my presario acts up constantly, especially with programs and other things. My CDRW died after about 90 CDR'S! not very long!!!Good luck!

CDex is a good freeware CD ripper; MP3 CD Doctor is a freeware burner. Or just use MusicMatch which does both.

Most new computers have software installed for burning CD's and can be activated by placing a blank CD in the drive. For the computer to recognize the disk it may take about 30 seconds, so just put a black CD in and wait. If that dose not work you will need to get some software. I suggest anything made by Adaptec (Easy CD Creator is simple)

Can someone recommend some good software I could try with my Yamaha AP-U70 (USB connection) when recording from my CD Player/Tapedeck/MD Player onto my computer. I use MUSICMATCH Jukebox Plus to play the music on my computer but I am having alot of trouble recording using MUSICMATCH. Is any of the software also capable of audio restoration. I have one computer running Windows 98SE and the other Windows 2000 Professional.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cool Edit 2000 is nice (and you can probably find a copy of it) or if you have the money go with Cool Edit Pro
