Audiowerk 8/MP3 problems

Recording MP3 mixes to WAV

Right, here's the deal. If you want to record the output from your MP3 DJing program to wav and you don't have one that has built in recording, forget about utilities like Total Recorder and Virtual Cable. Total Recorder seems to have problems recording the output of other programs through it's virtual driver unless you can set the output sound device to Wave Mapper or Automatic. Most MP3 mixing programs won't let you do that. If your program does let you set the main output to either Wave Mapper or Automatic, then you can probably use Total Recorder. Virtual Cable has enough of a delay between the input and output devices that in most programs I noticed a slower response time when pressing play. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist. The quality of MP3 has enough problems that I don't like the idea of using an analogue connection between two sound cards either. So after a lot of frustration, I finally figured it out. Here's what you have to do. Step 1: First you need at least one duplex sound card. Not much of a problem most of them are these days. Set your programs main output to a duplex sound card and the headphones to a second one if you have one. Step 2: Go into Control Panel under the Start Menu under settings. Open Multimedia. In the Audio Tab check to see if the Sound Card you set as the main output in your DJ program is the selected Playback device. Step 3: Click on the Playback button. If in step 2 the card you set as your main output in your program was the selected Playback device, make sure that Wave is selected and that the volume is set to something reasonable. It should say Wave or Wave/DirectSound or something like that. If you don't see it or if in step 2 the card you selected as your main output in your program wasn't the selected Playback device, click on the Options Menu, click on Properties, select the Mixer Device for the sound card you set as the main output for your program and make sure Adjust volume for Playback is selected. In the list select Wave or Wave/DirectSound and click OK. Now you should see it. Make sure it's selected and set the volume. Then close the Play Control window. Step 4: In the Audio Tab check to see if the Sound Card you set as the main output in your DJ program is the selected Recording device. Step 5: Click on the Recording button. If in step 4 the card you set as your main output in your program was the selected Recording device, make sure that Wave is selected and that the volume is set to something reasonable. Then close the Record Control window. Click OK to close Multimedia Properties and then close Control Panel. Step 6: Run your DJ program and a recording program. In your recording programs options set the recording device to the same one as the main output for your DJ program. If your recording program doesn't allow you to set the sound devices internally )most of them do), you'll have to set the sound card you selected in your DJ program as your Recording Preferred device in Multimedia. Start recording and what you mix should be recorded. Some mixing programs will take over your sound card. In this case you'll either have to wait until you close your DJ program to playback what you've recorded or you'll have to set your recording programs output to another device internally or in Multimedia.

is the cd burner a input/process/ out put/ storage or orther device?
what is the role for the burner?
how does the burner work?
how can it be maintained?
if the burner breaks down, can it be repaired or does it need to be replaced?

As for maintenance, there's nothing you can really do.

If it breaks, it's probably cheaper to replace than repair.

i found out ok go to google.com amd type
convert wma files to mp3 files
or you can replace the mp3 files with wave or any other format
and go to the seventh web site
it will read

Simply convert the WMA to WAV and then you can burn it as an MP3 or WAV.

I am not shure if it has already been done before but I am interested in persueing a project involving a music Jam across the net. The idea would involve using music software to send MIDI or WAV messages across the net to someone in another country. For example person A. in the UK starts the session by playing a Drum pattern, person B. in the US then adds a bass line and so on. I realise that there are technical issues and would be interested to discuss with anyone the possible problems that would need to be overcome. I would also greatly appreciate any info regarding other sites that feature this topic.

Music Software

My father wants to take the music that he has currently and put it into the computer. Then, he wants to take out all notes except for the melody line and guitar cords to make it easier for him to read. Is there any software that will allow us to do that. I am especially interested in one that will allow me to scan the music and then take out everything I need to take out. Thank you.

You can scan sheet music into a MIDI file. Then, using a MIDI sequencer, you can edit the MIDI file and take out all that you don't want.

Oms will not recognize my Dr. 770. I use Cubase 4.0 vst and I'm told the device has no volumes. SO I guess I am looking for a 770 patch or how to get a Sysex message that OMS and Cubase can recognize to use all my features. Any help would be appreciated. As i understand the version of MPP i have 4.1 was actually released from many copyright restrictions at the time according to my packaging and a few websites. I am finding very little information about the company or the software. My original copies were in storage for some years and seem to be bad. So i am looking for a site that may have the software to d/l for free as it seems there should be no copy protection TAP is likely no more.

I have a working copy of MPP, and will be glad to share it with you, should you desire. "Personal Composer" was the software recommended to me by Temporal Acuity. It's a Windows based program; I tried it, but didn't like it. I now have that, plus Finale, and Sibelius, but when I want to do any serious work, I always go back to MPP! For my purpose, it seems to be the best of all the programs. DOS was reliable. WINDOWS ISN'T!!!!

I ha ve also had PCWin, then Finale. Finale with tha add on from TGTools seems to be the best actually for me. But I have a lot of files under MP+ and I would like to save them or at least to read them...

Isolating and enhancing

I am looking for a freeware or shareware program that will allow me to locate/isolate/and enhance a voice or sound from backgrounds that consist of mostly white noise. Currently using AudioView, if this is a good program for what I want, I would appreciate tutorials if any exist...Can anyone help?

The results really depend upon the volume of the
noise relative to sound you're trying to isolate
but there are many noise reduction filtering programs
that you can find in our Audio Restoration software

One that I've used a bit is the noise reduction
function in the audio editor <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Cool_Edit_2k/" target="_top">Cool Edit</a>.

Floppy Drive Error

Everytime i insert a floppy disk in my PSR630, it asks me whether i should format or not instead of reading it automatically. if i choose to format, it goes on till80% and says disk error!!!
im scared!! is this solvable??!!!

This might seem like a silly question but have you
tried different disks or even different brands of disk?

yes idid try about 12 disks atleast and different brands too but nope!! acutally it does nt even read the yamaha floppy that came alongwtih it so there........i do hope soemone had this problem before so that they know its solvable .....

I was wondering if you know of a program or utilty to extract individiual songs from a full mp3?

For example:

(Before)
The Best of ABC.mp3 (file size 100MB)

(After)
track one.mp3 (file size10MB)
track two.mp3 (file size10MB)
track three.mp3 (file size10MB)
track four.mp3 (file size10MB)
track five.mp3 (file size10MB)
track six.mp3 (file size10MB)
track seven.mp3 (file size10MB)
track eight.mp3 (file size10MB)
track nine.mp3 (file size10MB)
track ten.mp3 (file size10MB)

The above song could consist of 10 tracks but is complied into one.
I am looking for some kinf of program or ultility that could extract the individual files.
I suppose it would look for a pause and extract the song one at a time. Perhaps,
the songs are individuall encoded and will extract automatically.
