I have seen these programs working very well on both of those machines. Make sure that you have the latest OS9 version though as some versions before OS9.1 wouldn't run cubase at all. It would crash the system on boot up. OS9.1 and it should work a treat.

Hi: My son plays the bagpipes, and has been looking for the wedding march sheet music. There are many sites with midi files to listen to. One suggestion was to use a notation program to convert it into sheet music. I have found some notation programs, cubase, cakewalk, capella etc. But which of these will do what I want. And are there any better.

I'd use Finale, Encore or Sibelius. It's a bit tricky if you're not fairly good at music theory.

i installed all these cool plug-ins (from this site:) and they wont load. i put all them, as directed, into the plug-in folder of the DAE program but they dont appear in pro-tools! i am on a mac.

What plugins did you install? What version of protools? Protools plugins often require the hardware that comes with a full protools system and therefore can't generally be used with the Protools free version. Having a software only version of protools is limiting and confusing when it comes to plugins.

they were the camelphat demo, the loop-it demo, a bass enhancer,i got a messload of plug-ins from this site and it seems that none of em load into the free version of pro tools.
i dint know i needed to get the ull version of pro tool s for these plug-ins to work, is that so? that sucks if it does!

The human voice spans a fair range as do most instruments, even drums. Removing instruments from a mix is currently not a reality. Dulling them down with carefully set bandpass eq'ing can help but is tedious and unrewarding...

remove an instrument fron a CD and then re-burn it.

I have Cakewalk 9 can't see how to use that, any ideas

vs880 as ad converter

This is more of a question. Is there a cheap or free way to use a vs880 as an ad converter? I'm trying to archive audio tapes on my imac using itunes and so far haven't a clue as to how. Thanks!

If you convert to digital with the VS then you will need a digital input on the iMac which means buying a USB or Firewire device that offers an SP/DIF input. If converting tapes to CD is all you want to do then just plug the tape machines outputs to the audio input on the iMac. The quality isn't pro level at all although cassettes aren't either. There are some freeware programs that will turn an audio input into a wave file (.wav/.aif) that you can use in iTunes or burn to a CD directly

I'm desperatly looking for a very simple software that can play samples (.wav .aiff .mp3 )by means of a PC keyboard assigning samples to different keys.I've browsing the hitsquad.com but I'm lost in the tons of software available! Anyone can give me a straight clue where to get this? (possibly freeware?)

I don't know of any free ones that will play MP3s, but the free version of Beat It http://www.evolvingsoftware.net and the free version of SoundPlant
http://www.soundplant.org/ will both let you play wav samples from the PC keyboard. The shareware version of SoundPlant will also let you play MP3s. I'm not sure if either one of them supports .aiff files.

Bios problem in psr-4000?

Hi! I have a yamaha psr-4000 (back from -96) keyboard, wich stopped playing songs from the disks. Naturally i first came 2 a conclusion that the problem was in the disk drive, but the it could read the song titles recorded on the hd's. But instead of playing the selected song on the menu from the disk, it started playing the current rhythm selected from the acconpaniment, it totally ignored the playing of the song from the disk!!?? I took it to the yamaha dealer next 2 me, who had the service in there 2. But after a week later, the repairman called and said, that there was nothing he could do... he came 2 the same conclusion, that the problem was probably in the software, not in the disk drive, but couldn't fix or "reboot" the bios in it. Anyways i'm just curios...has anyone of u psr-series owners had the samer or similar problem?

This does not look good. A Contact street address should be given in a request like this not an anonymous email. Maybe you can pass this post to the FBI on their web site incase they would like to investigate? It would only take a mail + a request for a street address/buisness address to confirm if this is from a genuine manager.

In anycase, I found out how to use winamp to decode mp3 to .wav, but when I go to load my track list to cdrwin it gives me a message that invalid cue sheet error on line 7 wave file is invalid or not cdr compatible. What can I do?????????

...Digital clipping?? overloading an input signal that is digital can cause some nasty noises, one of them being digital clipping... Clicks and pops...

Windows Media Player

When I used Windows Media Player it will lock up my system I can play up to 50 songs some times before it lock up. Then it may do it sooner. It did it with VER 7 and also with VER 7.1. When it does it, it is always when the music first starts never in the middle of a song. It will do it no matter what type of music it is, wave or midi and mp3. Thanks

You should be able to do this easily using AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). Just add your home computer's user name to your work computer's Buddy List and add your work computer's user name to your home computer's list also. Then from your work computer go to the My AIM menu, click on Edit Options, click on Edit Preferences and select File Sharing. Set the Shared File Location to what ever directory you have your MP3s in, check the Allow only users in Buddy group CheckBox and set the For users on my Buddy List to Allow. Then from your home computer, select your work computer's user name on your Buddy List. Go to the People menu, click on Get File from Buddy and follow the instructions. The procedure would be different, but you can do this with just about any of the instant messengers.

If you have a website, upload them, then download them at home. Or, you could use the old-fashioned way and use WinZip to span the files across a few 3.5in discs.

muting a bassline in Fruityloops

Hi folks
i've got a general question about fruityloops: My 3xOSC bassline is running in the playlist, when i want to stop it, i just take it out of the playlist. It doesn't really stop: the melody stops and only the LFO wobbling and stuff is still going on. I want to stop it ALL. How can i do this?? Maybe I should mute the bassline channel when I want to stop it but I don't know how to do that as well. What I know is the Fruity Mute plugin, but how can I tell it to only mute on a specific channel or a specific point in the playlist?
I've no idea boys and girls.
I'd appreciate any help

Compressor on VST mixer buss

I don't know if anyone else experiences this problem. I've got my vst mixer in cubase set up to send several drum channel (from the LM-9 drum machine) to a single buss. I want to run the compressor that comes with vst on this buss to compress just the drums but when I do so, the sounds from that buss go out of time with the rest of the track. There seems to be a processing delay in the compressor that isn't fixed by checking the 'enable plug in delay compensation' tick box in the audio system settings.
Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

Thats a pain in Cubase I know but when youve set the compressor up as you like it, why dont you export the drums back in to cubase. Then they will play in sync with the rest of your track.

Dont forget to mute the other instruments when you export though.

Try another comp. FC Comp is freeware and unbelievably good too.

I just got a program called internet tape deck which is a multitrack recorder. It claims to record to .wav format but instead saves as .mxd... is there any way to turn that file into a .wav or mp3?

Dont forget youve got to change the channel output to the vst instrument you are using. In cubase you have to right click on the channel output and choose the output there.
