Yamaha CS2x

Hello
I have just bought a Yamaha CS2x keyboard and i am struggling to use it with my cubase 5 software on my computer.
I managed to record a drum track in cubase using one of the keyboards drumkits, but when I try to make say a bass track I can't seem to change the program without it changing for all midi channels.
I am slightly worried that my new keyboard is not able to use more than one of its performance noises at once even though the demo tracks show that this is possible.
Could you please give any pointers on how i can configure my system to use multiple sounds from the cs2x's performance banks.

Re: Yamaha CS2x

That's true. You can't play more than 1 performance at the same time. That's a little shame. I own the same machine, but I knew this before I bought it. You should listen to the demos a little more deeper, because there are playing no more than 1 performance at a time. The rest is XG-shit! The people who made the demos just have succeeded to choose the more suitable ones from the XG-set to fill the rest of the empty sound scene. You can do the same in multimode, which allows you to use 1 performance and some XG-sounds at the same time. Try using channel 10 for drums, channel 1 for a performance and the rest for other XG-instruments. Note that if you want to use the drum-kits from the end of the second preset performance-bank, you have no performances left.
Eguipment, that I use: CS2x, Roland MC-303 Groovebox, Waldorf Micro Q, Roland VintageSynth- and Dance-expansions, MAM MB33 mk2-bass synth.
Even before I bought the rest of my gear, I used my CS2X as follows: I use Cubase 5 for sequencing midi and audio on my 1200GHz PC. I let my MC-303 handle the drums, while recording the CS2x to Cubase's audio-tracks. That's the best way to go around the limit of 1 performance at a time. Of course this brings some difficulties in productions, because you have to "know" the track, that you're making from before perfectly. You just have to record a track in audio and add more tracks with different performances. It's not that bad as it seems to be. I hope you can manage with CS2x. Never sell it! yuo can export the arpeggios out of the midi-port and control any other modules with really great control.

Re: Yamaha CS2x

hi i have a CS2x sins 2000 now... and i can not use more performance sound at a time..

what you can do is.. search on the web for CS2x LAYER .. or someting like that... it is a software programm to split your performance sound in 4 midi channels.. so then you can use 4 sound at the time.. or use the split function... to have 2 sound on your (klavier) keys..
..or use Cubase VST with multitrack recording..
Good luck..
