Re: vst instruments midi setup
: it's called 'latency' by those in the know and it's a result of the soundcard drivers u use, cpu power and settings. you want to use ASIO drivers if you can and set sound buffers to a min. on my soundblaster with ASIO driver i get >10ms delay which is not noticable. with DX drivers it's 60-750ms which is unusable. you can play midi sounds when recording then playback via vsti but that's not much fun
Steinberg rescently made a midi-device to reduce the latency to almost zero - it shouldnt be to expensive and worth checking out.
Convert stereo to mono wavs
The chordfinder won't process stereo recorded wav files, but how can I get them in mono?

put your finger in your ear. Instant mono.
Audio editor
Most if not all Audio Editors will convert stereo to mono. There should be something for this in the file area on this site. Check Audio editors

Looking for mp3 player with slow down feature
I'm looking for a software based mp3 player that has
the ability to slow down the song being played. I've
seen this feature on the player that ships with one of
the Sound Blaster cards.
Would be much appreciated.
Re: Looking for mp3 player with slow down feature
I can't help you there. But you could still use a program like SlowGold. I guess it depends what you're intending to do.

I just asked the same question a few days ago, and I was recommended Easy Creator 5 by Roxio/ Adaptec. Haven't purchased yet, its $100, but is supposed to be by far the best on the market - you can do video, photographs, as well.
Re: seperating track markings for cd burning
I asked this question a while back too,I have CDC 4.5 and as far as I can tell it doesn't insert track flags, maybe the 5.0 version does, somebody recommended Cool Edit, which I own, but I've been searching the help index and I can't find any info on how to do this,I wish somebody here would provide a more detailed answer.

Do you know of a program that can get rid of the vocals without getting rid of the music what so ever? Also, do you know how to use the low/high pass filter settings in any music editing program? Brian
.....
There are programs that attempt to get rid of the vocals and leave the music although I have never heard one that makes anything but a crap job of it. It's too much to expect a program to be able to pickout such a wide bandwidth source (vocals...) without removing the corresponding frequencies of other instruments. Check the file area on this site under Karaoke and try it for yourself and get disappointed like the rest of us..
Hi/Low pass filtering is a great and under used eq tool. A common use for it is thus...
If you have a multitracked song with lots of different instruments playing at the same time, you may find the sound gets muddy and saturated. The likely hood is that you are allowing too many frequencies of the same type into the same stereo mix.
If you have recorded a cymbal, there is no point in allowing that track 20-500hz (and usually above) of the audio spectrum as there is no usable information for a cymbal at that bandwidth. You could then Hi-Pass filter (lets everything 'above' the set frequency to pass untouched) up to 500hz or higher which would remove the bandwidth that may contain some unnecessary noise that is cluttering up the mix. Low passing a bass guitar can be very effective too although a purist engineer will only use Hi/Low pas filtering on carefully selected instruments so as not to adversely affect the nuiances of that instrument. This type of filtering is very good at creating a mix that gives the impression that the instruments in the mix are no swamping each other and therefore creating seperating.

Reason problems
I have problems with te drRex sample player.
When i make a rex file in Recycle and i want to play it with the player with my midi keyboard i have a latency when hearing the sound.
I have checked my audio setup and my latency is set to 46 ms and with 546 latency compensation and i still have this problem.
Can anyone help me?
Re: Reason problems
The latency you are experiencing is most defenetly due to youre soundcard drivers. 46ms sounds like youre running a soundbastard-cardor something... The latency compensation is used when syncing as a slave to another sequencer, so if youre running reason as a single proagram the latency copmpensation should be set equal the actual latency value. You could try to lower the latency value to the point where no clicks or pops is audioble. Playing a keyboard with over half a second latency is not tolereble. If you cant get the values down to an accepteble point (1-4ms according to me), then its time to buy a new sound card.
Cubase
Can anyone help me with Cubase.
I have bought a midi keyboard and i only get an input and no output.
My VST instruments dont work either.
Please contact me.

Make life easy for yourself and use ACID instead. It handles the BPM problem for you.

Audio Recording Problems with Cubase VST V5
I'm probably doing something silly but I can't seem to get audio recording tracks in sync with midi tracks. I record them as normal and then they're a little delayed. If I move the wav files a little to get them in sync, this seems to work but next time i listen it's out again. Soundcard is SB Live Platinum.
Can anyone help?
Delay...
It's got a lot to do with the system and the soundcard. It's known as 'latency' (delay) and is quite common. This problem can be alleviated with the right computer running a pro audio card.
In the interim, you should calculate how much delay there is and always reduce the audio tracks by that amount.

Re: Audio Recording Problems with Cubase VST V5
try geting a new sound card. SB's arent that great. Try the Delta 44 for instance
