software for Mac and compaq's PA-1 mp3 player

does anyone know of any Macintosh software that can put ,mp3's on a Compaq PA-1 player? I'm using the software that came w/the PA-1 by running it through virtual PC, but it's very unreliable and slow. A Mac solution would be better.

There isn't one which can completely separate vocals
from the music. With filters you can remove some of it,
but because the two are recorded together it's
impossible.

Need Advise in Buying

I've tried several demos and now I'm sick of that route. Would someone please reccommend a CD-ripper to MP3 that will allow me to encode at the 16kb bit-rate speed. Of those I tried, one went down to 8kb (unacceptable) then the next setting was 32kb. Others had low ends above 16kb. THanks in advance. Please reply to my email glenn61@earthlink.net. (Not sure if I'll ever be by this way again).

I captured video from video tape into the harddisk.
I could not captured the whole video tape into 1 file.
Most of the time I encountered hang or message like ...
the window encountered error.... press ctrl-alt-del ..
.... to re-start.............................
So what I did was to record the whole tapes into 3 to 4 parts
It is quite tedious because I have to make sure I don't repeat
overlap my video recording. In the event if I make an overlap,
I use an Ulead video editor to edit out the overlap, I have to take
hours to save my edited file.

I wish someone out "there" know the "correct" technique on how
to solve this problem. Please advise

I captured video tape to the harddisk. Playback using media
player in the computer its perfect. Sound and display.
When I burn it into CD and play it on Video CD Player the
sound crack and not perfect. I have tried defragment my harddisk,
it wouldn't help.

trouble "scanning CD" in Easy CD Creator 4.05

When Easy CD Creator copies a CD it first "scans" the CD. No problem with my LiteOnit 1210-b. But my Creative 5233E CD Rom takes forever to scan. In fact, the time to scan each track gets progressively longer. Can't figure out what's wrong here.

I'm coming up for air as I sank under the musical waves and technology. My only board I have is the Roland JW-80. Needless to say, at my most recent visit to MARS, I was a bit overwhelmed to say the least. How can I get back in contact with the real world on a shoe-string budget? I've got so much unfinished musical business to conduct. S.O.S. this alien to the new musical world of keyboards, studio recording and songwriting etc.

Csound is completely different to sequencers, multi-track recorders, sample loopers, soft synths etc - although it does have some things in common these systems and can be used in conjunction with them.

Csound is an audio rendering system which is best compared to 3D image rendering software.

In theory with enough processing power (and time to render) you can create absolutely any type of sound be it real or artificial.

I just started playing around with Csound and it is really cool. I bought the new book and and it was worth every penny. I'm using Csound to better understand what's going on under the hood, so to speak.

Multiple Streams

I am streaming from winamp with Shout DSP plugin to an icecast server. I want to run 2 streams of different rates from the same audio source from one machine. Is this possible or can I run a different encoder to achieve this.

Any help would be great.

I am just using the program to edit files at home, that are being recorded at a studio. Do I still need to install OMS. I did install both Pro Tools LE and OMS and when I try to open the program I get an error message that reads "unable to create a DAE deck".
What does this mean?

I don't know if windows uses OMS, I think it's just the Mac, could be wrong though...!

If it's a Mac, then you you don't 'need' OMS unless you are using a midi interface (USB) that requires it. I don't know why you get that message though. How far into the program do you get?? Again, if it's a Mac, do a search for protools and find and delete the 'preferences' file. If you have no midi interface or if the interface is a serial interface (.... again, Macintosh) then you don't need OMS. The only reason I have it is because it addresses my MidiSport USB interface otherwise I would more than likely not bother.

Depends what equipment you have. What you need is:

1. Either a turntable with a built-in RIAA preamplifier or a separate amplifier

2. A PC equipped with a sound card and a CD writer

3. Software to record the sound form the LP with and some software to write the CD with.

If you've got all that, then you can do it.

Soundfont Device

Hi! I have Win 98, Sonar, and SounBlaster v64. After installing Vienna font manager I get this message when openning it-Unable to initiate the SoundFont Compatible Device Driver! (None detected)
Make sure it is installed.What do I do next? I am non-technical so please be gentle (ha-ha) Thanks, K Bruce

I am not sure of your soundblaster card but you may not have the card which is soundfont compatible,therefore no driver.Some that are is the Soundblaster live card.Soundblaster awe cards.
