pro tools 6.0 compression

I'm looking for a specific sound to the vocals which is a warm fuzzy sound, not distorted, when yelling. To be even more specific, Chris Cornell from Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger, is what I'm aiming for. The pro tools 6.0, which I'm using, comes with compression but I don't know anything about ratios or threshold. I know it comes with pre-set compression like vocals, bass, ect, but its not sounding the way I want. How do I adjust the compression to get that warm fuzzy vocal sound?

i am looking to find out what would be the best levels to set for a kick drum and snare drum when compressing them.i would like to know if possible for the gain,threshold,ratio,attack,release,and knee.the kick and snare drum sounds i have are samples and are layed out on the track as kick snare kick snare and so on.i have only just started to use compression and the help would be of great importance to me.

Problem importing tracks from Audition (Cool Edit Pro) to Protoo

I am trying to import some audio files that were edited in Adobe Audition (or Cool Edit Pro, they're the same) into Protools LE 5.3 but encountering lots of problems. I have tried different sample rates and bit depths as well as file formats and I still get a loud hiss in the audio when I open it in Protools. Does anyone have experience with these two programs working together? Please help!

SOUNDFORGE 5 ERROR

I've just formatted my PC, and re installed SoundForge 5, it normally works fine, but as it scans for Audio Plug ins it crashes, both SoundForge.exe and rundll32 stop responding, is this a problem with my SoundForge, or my PC????? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This is probably about the most painful method to try to fix the problem, but its worked for me: Back up all of your audio plugins that you still want, then uninstall them all. Reinstall them one at a time until you get the same problem comes up.

i've been using sibelius for a long time and it has been great...until i tried to open a midi file on it and there it asked to me reset sounds and sum bullcrap like that, and out of nowhere now it doesnt play anymore..the line goes through the song but it doesnt give sounds..though i went to the devices and i pressed test on my midi keyboard and it played it..exept its just not playing the notes that i've put..and i cant even play on the keyboard while it writes it on the bars..please if any1 can help me with this let me know soon...thanx heaps!

I have been using my Just!burn software for several years with no problems. Suddenly after deleteing temporary internet files in the windows directory (temp internet files folder) The program gives me an error message JAUDIO caused an invalid page fault in
module MSVCRT.DLL at 0167:78010b88. Anyone have any ideas or fixes.

I have been using my Just !Audio for quite some time now and have been burning some CD's, now all of a sudden i put in a blank CD, it spits the CD back out and it says "Please insert destination CD!". So I press the OFF button and it says "ERROR: No empty CD inserted". I would like some help on this situation, if I could get some that would be great.

About 10 years ago, I had a band, we did industrial music, and we used for our sampler/sequencer an Ensonique EPS (sp?). So what I'm looking for is something similar to that but instead of a standalone machine, I want basically the same thing for my compouter. I'm now just playing guitar since the EPS broke about 8 years ago and I'd like to get back into sequencing/sampling. I've got a rather nice machine (XP), so system specs aren't really an issue.

Would Cakewalk Homestudio XL be my best bet? Or are there other packages out there that I should look at firsr? I'm not a fan of Trackers, they tend to confuse me. I want to be able to download samples, or create my own, add selective effects to seperate tracks, sequnce them and maybe rip them to .mp3 or an audio CD.

So, what's your suggestion for a newbie?

Hi anybody who can help! My father, who was a concert pianist,has decided at age 80, that he wants to record music he has been composing (in his head) for years. He has traded in his Bechstein for a top of the range, Yamaha analogue and digital piano and he has a PC laptop. Question is, in simple terms and costs: what does he need to be able to play his piano,record the sound and produce it as written and re-playable music? Can he then change the score produced? I've trawled the internet and am not getting anywhere. If you know, or can tell me where to go for info, please tell me. Many thanks.
