Changing the pitch (key) of an MP3 backing track

Anyone have any views as to what software is best for editing MP3's? In particular, changing the pitch (key) or tempo without loss of quality.

One way is to use a program like Cakewalk Audio Ver 9 or Soanar (which is also from Cakewalk). Import the MP3 audio file and use the Audio effect 'Pitch/Time stretch' to alter key or tempo up or down. Also works with .WAV files.

Try a program called Transcribe, it's easier to use than Cakewalk and you can save the changed file back to another mp3. It's also good for working out lead breaks.
