Hello everyone! My name's Chris and I am looking for a software program for pc that can create music from scratch with .wav samples. I would need preferably shareware and I don't really know where to start. I live in ALaska and my apartment burnt down about 2 weeks ago. I lost everything i owned and I'm staying with relatives in the local area in Fairbanks. I've been having some strange things happening in dreams and while I've been waking up but I'm certain that I must alter the music I hear in my experiences to actual songs. I just feel like I need to create. I'm hoping someone can refer me to a link or program that could at least get me started. I've played bass for about 10 years but I haven't dabbled at all in software. Thanks guys. Also check out my tfc guild's tite website at www.teamtf.com enjoy and thanx. Cool Edit Pro 2 is not only a powerfull program, but is easy to use. It works with a simple copy/cut paste layout very similiar to the old windows 3.1 'windat' Its kind of pricey, but with so many p2p's out there, with a little wit, youll be well on your way

software playing score?

I would like to know whether there exists a simple program that plays the music after I enter the score. To be more specific: I've just joined a choir but I am not able to sing directly from the score. However, I would like to be able to exercise between the rehearsals, because the music is pretty difficult. Now I thought if the computer could play my vocal line, I could train by listening.

Anybody an idea?

I play the talkbox like a fanatic. Tribute to Zapp. I use the best one - Dunlop Heil Talkbox. I drive it with a Minimoog model-D.

Truth;
Roger used a custom talkbox that he made with his brother Lester. He always had two of them onstage in case one failed. He said they were unreliable which is odd when you consider the simplicity of a talkbox.

Fact;
To achieve the same Zapp sound you need a Moog synth. The Minomoog was used in the studio and they toured with the Moog Source because it was more reliable and could store synth settings. For harmonies they used the Memorymoog which in itself is a wicked synth.

The Zapp sound was defined by the Moog sound - basslines, vocals, backing pads, etc.

Note they dialed the Moog's wave shapes to Square on both oscillators. One oscillator - the bottom osc was tuned down one octave. This created a warm tone that was full, bright and buzzy (unmatched by any other synth even to this day). You need that buzzy quality for greater definition for words or vowels. The envelope shape was flat with maximum sustain, no decay, and no release (tight!!).

FYI-
A talkbox is basically a small but powerfull speaker enclosed in a box or 'shell' with a round extruded opening or 'port' fitted with a long vinyl tube (usually clear) that goes into your mouth. You wire your amp's speaker output to the talkbox's input.

Then play the keyboard as you lip-sync with the box's tube in your mouth. Presto!

Hi Bill,
I would appreciate finding this out myself.
My unit has been showing signs of "monitor blank out" and was wondering the same thing !!
