Getting music software to work
Please Help
I have downloaded a number of programs, I have a sound card, and all I simply want to do is create cd's from tapes or try multi tracking.
I have a Dell, newer with me2000 on it , a soundcard that should work for one track at a time, I cant get any output from a line in out of the software, any software. I put a line in, I( can hear it through the computer speakers, but nothing records, Please help, anyone...email please. ....thank you.

Double click on the volume speaker icon in the lower right hand corner of the taskbar.
Go to preferences. Put checkmarks in all sound source boxes. OK. Unmute EVERYTHING.
Go back into preferences. Switch playback/recording option to the other one. Checkmark all the sources. OK. Unmute Everything.
Close
Open the program. Go to Options / Preferences. Select your audio driver as Soundcard Driver, not Windows Multimedia Driver.
Close Program. Reopen.

Burning CDG's
First of all, thanks to Andy for the prompt response to my last inquiry. Here's another couple of questions I couldn't find the answer to in your FAQ's:
I am about to purchase a CD-RW drive that can read the subcodes on a CDG disc. What I would like to do is burn mp3+G's from the web- is this possible with your software? I also have some CDG's that I want to copy for home use(I'm a DJ). I have a CD-ROM drive in addition to the CD-RW drive. The CD-ROM drive is not one of the ones supported by your software. Can the CD-RW read the subcodes and copy from the other drive anyway, or will I have to copy the disc to my hard drive first, then burn it? Thanks in advance for your help.

How Can I Play cdg's on my rom drive...without having to pay large dollars for a download or program. The one Download I found from exp comp.at Cnet said file did not exist. Can you tell me where to go to find one thanks
Recording streaming audio
Can anyone tell me how to record streaming audio? Holy cow there must be some program around here that will let me do that. Thanks in advance.

Need to Record Songs Played on my laptop
Need to record songs played on internet to my Laptop. Ex. I play a songs on the internet and i need to record it simeaoultonously !! Any Software ??

It was Mac only but I think they had planned a windows one...

I found the software for it. Its 'Total Recorder'. Basic thing it what ever songs u listen on the Net u can record it directly to your PC. Its a nice one.

since i down loaded player v-7.1 i have had nothing
but a huge load of problems.cannot get to microsoft on
a one to one basis for help.ihad a pay for service tech
who used remote control still no luck.i have deleted and reinstalled 7.1 3 times no luck.now that i have gone as far as i can & microsoft does not give a damm
about me ,then i may as well dump my computer in the
trash all because of micro's v7.1 player.i geuss have
not learned yet to trust people like micro soft.

You're right. M$ won't give much of a toss about you. But if there are 100,000 of you, they'll get onto the ball. Well, maybe. In their own time. I dunno when. Hey! We're working on a patch! Expect it in a month. Or two. Hell, I dunno. Anyone got any donuts?

As for video, it beats me. But I'm sure there is something out there.

cubase help required
i think my song files have been corrupted as cubase refuses to load them and gives an error message can not load sample cannot load file is there any soft ware for checking and repairing damaged files please help

just hooked up a keyboard to the PC through Midi via the joystick port. Getiing a 1-2 second delay for somereason. Any help please?

You installed LoopaZoid 1.22 didn't you? I have the same problem. Disable all unused DirectX plugins under Audio, then close. Remove all unused plugins from the VST Plugins directory. Reopen Cubase and try loading the song. If it doesn't work, try removing ALL VST PLUGINS from the VST Plugins directory. I've only recovered two songs this way, but that's better than none. Opening a file with al the VSTi's and VST plugs removed really messes up your song though.

Tascam MTS-1000 Midiizer
Trying to sync up a Tascam TSR-8 to an Alesis ADAT-XT via the old Tascam MTS-1000 Midiizer and a sync box that coverts Midi sync info to ADAT sync info. Can it be done? How? I have synced up 2 TSR8's so I know the unit is working.

Plug Ins For Cubase Not Installing
After installing a load of plug-ins for Cubase, i went through them all and only about half have installed, i've tried to install the others again but it keeps coming up that ' Installation was not successfull '
And it is mainly the mastering Plug Ins
Any Ideas??

DFreqTIP - Extracting the Lead Vocal

In DigiFreq issue 10, I talked about how you can remove the main
vocal part from a prerecorded song to be left with only the backing
tracks for karaoke and other purposes. Well, some of you have asked
if you can also do the opposite. That is to remove the backing
tracks and just be left with the lead vocal part. The answer again
is yes and no.
Yes, you can extract the lead vocal from a prerecorded song, but
only if the vocal is panned directly in the center of the stereo
field. But as with eliminating the lead vocal, the process isn't
perfect. There isn't currently any audio software on the market that
can analyze and extract only a single part from a recording.
Instead, you have to isolate the material in the middle of the
stereo field. That means isolating the vocal and everything else
centered in the mix.
Fortunately, Sound Forge has a special Mid-Side conversion feature
(normally used for another purpose) that pretty much makes this
process automatic. Without it, the process would be much more
involved (ie. having to remove the vocal first, converting to mono,
phase inverting, and recombining with a mono version of the original
file).
Here's how to do it the easy way in Sound Forge 4.5 and 5.0:
1) Open the original audio file.
2) Choose Edit>Select All to select all the data in the file.
3) Choose Process>Pan/Expand.
4) In the Pan/Expand dialog box, choose the Normal Mix Of MS
Recording preset.
5) Click OK.
6) Choose Edit>Selection>Set.
7) Choose Left in the Channel parameter drop-down list.
8) Click OK.
9) Choose Edit>Copy.
10) Choose Edit>Paste Special>Paste To New.
11) Save your new audio file.
Depending on the type of material that you're processing, the
results will vary, but they'll never be perfect. Anything that was
in the middle of the mix will now be in your new audio file, which
probably includes the vocal, bass, and some of the other background
instruments. You can try to tweak the mix a bit with EQ, but other
than that, what you get is what you get. Maybe in the future we'll
have more sophisticated software available that will be able to
analyze and separate specific sounds from an audio mix.

I proposed the use of dual phase inversion to isolate vocals back in February of 2000, but when I sent it out to the Plugins manufacturers, one of the developers pointed out that my math was wrong. I tried for months after that, but I never solved it. I even set some of my friends on it, but their IQs are only 163. How was the set of equations solved?

Nero CD burning software
The drummer in the band I'm in just bought Nero ver. 5.5. He has two HP burners connected to his computer. Nero mentions the ability to multitask two burners simultaneously, but the details of such an endeavor are lacking.
I know that one burner must be master/slaved to the CDROM drive, and that the other must be likewise master/slaved to the hard drive. I also know that extreme amounts of RAM are needed, at least 512 MB.
This is where my understanding of the process ends, as well as the understanding of every computer-oriented individual I have spoken with.
I need to know what remains to make this process workable, as unheard of as it seems to be. We are getting ready to burn some demo CDs, and the drummer seems to think we'll need THAT MANY copies!!
I would welcome any response to this interesting challenge that is knowledgeable, as I am at an impasse.

Can any one reccommend any good music generators. I have tried the demo version of smart sound for multi media and it is very good. But is a little expensive for my pocket. Are there any other similar software out there.
