Why do my mp3:s sound distorted?

When I play mp3 files (using different players like winamp and K-jöfor) or real media files (with real player) they sound distorded. Also, they are played at a too high speed (causing the frequencies to be increased). Does anybody know what the error may be?

You have to look for the sound card drivers, but be sure that you'r using correct drivers, if not tell me.

I am looking for a piece of shareware or freeware that will enable you to better understand the frequencies in your voice. Is there any missing frequencies, which are dominant etc. It will count the different freqencies and give you an analysis of how many times these frequencies were in the voice. Thanks

Does anyone out there know if the Boss SP-303 is compatable with windows 2000? Can the Boss formating of the smartcards be read by windows? The companies are closed till Monday and I'm getting desperate. Thanks for any feedback.

I am writing to answer my own question in case someone else runs into this...I was trying to save the cakewalk files as wav files simply by naming and puting .wav at the end of the name, but I needed to export the files and they automatically become wave files.

I work on one comp at school and a different one at home. I have the same programs on both, but not the current sample editing and arranging that I've worked on. I'm using acid. Is there a way that I can mail a whole song to myself and have it come back to me seperated in acid so I can continue the work I've done?

Dunno. I assume you could email the .acd file and any samples used in the music that you haven't got on your other computer. All the acd file does is point out what samples are needed etc.

Midi or Wave..?

Forget the wave file as that is too complicated. You could 'notch eq' certain frequencies for the note you want boosted i.e. 440hz = middle 'C' but it would be impossible to select an instrument in a wave file and change the volume of specific notes...

Doing it with Midi is easy though as all you need to do is load the midi information into a sequencer (midi) and go into one of the many editing options they offer, like Score Edit..

Selecting the note you want to adjust is a matter of highlighting it and then editing it's volume note information (velocity...). You can bulk select note and adjust the together but how that is done depends on the software you choose to use..

p.s. check the software on this site. There is a load of catagories that are clearly marked up so you should be able to find something to play with..

Im pretty new to using a sampler, and the instructions to Vsampler are not the best for beginners. How do you catch a sound say from a CD or turntable, and set the loop. Also is there a forum for Vsampler so I can learn the functions, and the terminology. -Thanks

I'm using a PC slot adaptor to put wave files into the sampler, but when I format the care for the 303, my computer can't read it and it want's to format it too so it wont save the files!!HELP!!

the only reason i stay with cubase is because of ease of sounfonts,i love audio in logic ,i cant seem to get sounfonts working or even listed within the program

Beginners Composition Share/Software

I'm looking for a beginner's music composition program. An inexpensive variety since I'm not sure I'll be any good at it. I would like it to have a piano-type keyboard on-screen since I have no midi-keyboard. AS I'm hoping to use it for music for my experimental films, I need to be able to save files for Final Cut Pro, which means AIFF, among others. Thanks!

It is very easy to use and is infinitely expandable for free due to it's VST architecture. Not too stable though. I use it all the time on vocals, because with my input box I can effortlessly multitrack in Stereo with dual mics.

Any multitrack Audio/Midi sequencer. Like Digital performer/Logic Audio/Cubase/Cakewalk (don't bother with the Mac Metro version if you have a Mac).

These will record audio from a computers audio input and allow multiple tracks. There is a cubase demo on this site so go and check it out. You wont be able to save in the demo though..!

There are other routes but this is the obvious one for you...

tom - you're not going to get the "engineering"
support from midiman (m-audio). echo is a better
hardware product and the company issues excellent
downloadable driver revs & improvements on a
regular basis. you might also look into other
echo products or rme products for the exact
functionality that you want:

Anybody with a rio 500 know a reliable way to transfer songe from the player onto the computer? If i must i'll use real jukebox with my pc but i'd prefer something that works on a mac. osx or 9 is fine. thanx
