Convert ORC to MP3?

Chords for melodies

I am really bad at choosing the right chords for my melodies. I've tried ArsNova Songworks and purchased a Korg ix300. Both claim to choose chords for melodies. Neither works real well. Is there any software or piece of equipment that can help?

It really helps to have some basic knowledge of
music theory, I suggest you consider gettin a book
like <a href="http://www.musiciansbooks.com/books/Composing_Music_A_New_Approach/">Composing Music : A New Approach</a>

There is also a great program which can help you
try out different chords really easily to see what
works best. Download the demo for <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Band-in-a-Box_win32/">Band-in-a-Box</a>
and see if this helps.

Cubase Crashing

When i open Cubase for the Mac and import an audio file, more often than not it will eventually crash after a few plays, or after applying an effect. Does anyone have any helpfull tips???

Whats usually reccomended with this scenario is to remove the plugins to a different folder, then one by one put them back into the original(now empty)folder try them and see if you can try and pinpoint which plugin is causing the crash.

I think the reverbs are high on the suspicious list and maybe the phaser.

Its a matter of a bit of detective work.

Obviously if the plugins pass the test and you are still experiencing crashs, you can try something else.

Compatability with Windows XP

I am a novice to MIDI. I have an Alesis 8.1 and I am presently looking to but a new home computer. I want to get in to using my computer for my music, nothing fancy at this time but I want the option to expand my software capabilities.

What is the prefered OS to have in a new system?

I have heard the Windows XP is not good for these aplications.

Also, what is the best configuration of the pc as far as processor, memory, hard drive, sound card, graphics card, modem, etc. I am looking at the usual HP, Dell, Gateway machines to customize.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Windows XP is probably the worst choice, since very little software has been validated for use with it. It is primarily for business use rather than in-home, so I'd avoid it.

As for PC spec, it depends on your budget. For music apps, memory, hard drive capacity and sound card are most important. As for processor, anything above 800MHz will be ample. Graphics - the GeForce 2 MX or Pro card. Modem - take your pick of the 56K V90 cards that are around.

As with most things, it all boils down to personal preferance.

EarthTuner appears to no longer be available on the 'net. Does anyone know of a replacement app? Real isn't very stable under low memory conditions and WinFM's interface needs work.

If anyone knows who took over this apps development - I believe the name changed as well as the website - please drop me an email. 'Twould be appreciated.

É simples, Vania.
Você põe a Midi a tocar através de algum aplicativo - p.ex. o 'mplayer' do Windows.
Ao mesmo tempo, grava o som resultante com um gravador Wav. Eu gosto de usar o Cool Edit, mas qualquer outro também serve. O mais comum seria o Gravador de Som do Windows (sndrec32).
Assim, um aplicativo simplesmente grava (como wav) o que o outro reproduz (a partir de midi). Só precisa cuidar no 'mixer' que a fonte de sinal (midi) esteja ativada e conduzindo o sinal, com bom volume, para o gravador. Pronto, é isso aí. Boa sorte!

read the manual,
its under " loading song files" pg136 or
hold shift and press mode then go to mode 2
press enter and load smf files..... save it in mc50 format its much faster to load back the songs

Cubase Problem

I have been running Cubase32 v5 for months without problem. Now it has started loading fine and the arrangement loads fine too except when you play it the pointer moves over the music normally but nothing arrives in the channel mixer. It also won't record midi data any more ( I haven't tried Audio but I suspect not). Anybody got any ideas ? I have de- and reinstalled it but the same thing happens.

Do you defrag your system? I don't know if that will help but I noticed ever since I started to defrag every time I booted up, I have no problems with Cubase. Also check the MME driver.

You could try uninstalling again in the ADD/REMOVE function in Windows Control Panel

Try a Custom uninstall so that you can remove everything concerning Cubase. Also,go to START/FIND, and delete all Cubase related stuff.

Then use something like Regclean to remove the last remnants of Cubase

Reboot and then install Cubase again

Dont forget to 'Set up MME' in the Cubase folder

Most serious Cubase users Defrag before every session. Get something like VoptMe that does a defrag in minutes rather than Windows which takes forever.

Free simple audio recorder

Loading soundfonts into SB Live! MIDI Synths

I have a Sound Blaster Live! Platinum installed in my PC and I use Cubasis VST as a sequencer. The internal MIDI instruments which are installed include the default Creative Synth and two s/w synths called A:SB Live! MIDI Synth and B:SB Live! MIDI Synth. Now for the problem. The other night I was playing with SoundFonts for the first time and somehow managed to clear out the SoundFont from bank 0 of both the A: and B: synths on the SB Live! I tried reloading the standard SoundFont back that come with the card but it only seems to have fixed one of the two synths. So my B:SB Live! MIDI Synth now works fine, but I get no sound out of the A: version. Does anyone know how to select which synth will be affected when you load SoundFonts from the Creative SoundFont control panel thingy?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I still haven't tried to download and install any sound font from Creative. But maybe it helps you to know that the sound fonts A: and B: on my Sound Blaster Live! sound exactly the same. I don't know why that same font is there with two different names. You probably aren't loosing anything without your A: font as long as B: allready stands for both.

MMJB Soundcard problem

Delta44 Wdm Driver workaround for Windows98???

Hi,
I'm using Sonar 1.3 with A Midiman Delta44 card, and I'd very much like to use the Wdm drivers for the Delta44.
The drivers apparently only work for Windows2000 or XP. Just to see what would happen, I installed them anyway. Sonar recognized them as WDM, the Wave Profiler worked correctly, but
the program couldn't assign an audio track's source to the inputs on the card making recording impossible.
I'm trying to avoid upgrading to Windows2000 just now because I'm visually impaired, and my speech software works well under Windows98. Does anyone know of a workaround that might render the WDM drivers functional under Windows98? Please email me when you reply,

Pro Tools Free

Any of you guys using Pro Tools Free? I installed it last night and found out a few things. First you must use 48000 sample rate with a SoundBlaster soundcard and 8 on The DAE buffer, but the latency is horrendous. What soundcard and drivers work well with Pro Tools Free?

Greetings Im 18 and have been into messing around with music for a long time and know how to run my shit lol
I work with mainly Dub reggae and so on but in the Future I would like to someday release a Cd of my own got to think positive ya know lol but for now i would like to get my equtment and everything i need to proform music and edit and what not im gonna need the whole 9yards all i got now is goldwave software for the pc and want to buy atcual equitment soon and dont know what i want to do i like bass and will need lots of things for that and need sumthing to add echos and many more efects and so on Im new to all this and dont know any names of what i need but sumday i will get that all strait lol well hope you guys can give me some sugestiongs on how to start plaining for the future and how much i will actualy need to save up its gonna take a few years but got to take it slow ya know also is there any good software i keep trying to get edit cool 2000 but it never downloads right and the same thing goes for frutieloops Oh also how do they make sounds echo without makeing the bass and other background sounds echo with them its hard to explain you would have to actualy hear the music that i work with to fully get it but thanx for taking your time to read this have a nice day and keep the music aflow nuff respect ... Try Cubase or Audio Logic. You can download Pro Tools 8 track software for free on this site.Best thing to do is read magazines about the music your into. You can get a basic idea on how the artist are recording their music through interviews. Expearment with the diffrent demo software and you'll start getting an idea of what you'll need. Muzical Wizard Pattern Software - HELP PLEASE!

I purchased a legitimate copy of "Muzical Wizard" software about 2 years ago. It came on a floppy disk with manuals. I've recently purchased a new computer and found out my floppy is no longer readable. I tried getting in touch with the company that made the software, but I believe they are out of business. Does anyone have a copy I could get from them? I'd be happy to pay for it. I do own this copy legally and have the receipt to prove it. Thanks for your help

Mod tracker and midi drum experts , help me!

I am trying to convert my midi drum files to more realistic sounding wav files by using samples with the help of the mod plug tracker..but I am having problems. The samples I hear in the program are in "middle C-5", however they seem to be tuned WAY DOWN when I hear try to assign them to corresponding midi sounds.So I just try to use my ears to hear which note (that is, which button on my keyboard) resembles the original wav sample most and and replace the notes manually...Is there a way to do this assignment process accurately so that I can hear the file but this time with my wav samples? I know music theory so if I need to make some intervallic calculation or any kind of adjustment you can tell me. The help file in the software is VERY inadequate so I could not really figure out the functions of the windows that seem to be there for the sake of transposing..

BURNING CD-G (KARAOKE DISC)

COULD I GET SOME HELP,

I am in the process of trying to figure out how to burn cd-g's Karaoke Disc. I understand that the burner that I am going to order a Sony CRX140E is capible of performing this fuction. However I realize that I need a program to do so. That's my problem, where to I get the program. I am totally lost in this issue. I burn regular cd's often but my current cd-r is not compatible. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.
