Hi!

I've connected my synth´s input and output MIDI plugs to the computer, and connected the synth´s "phones plug" to the computer´s "line in".
When I use SB-Live MIDI UART as port on a track (in Cakewalk), I can use the synth´s intruments as MIDI (they sound a whole lot better the the computer´s intruments).
But when I do the same thing with another track, I get the same intrument as the first one during recording, and no sound at all during playback. So my question is: How can I use the synth´s built-in instruments
with multiple tracks?

A guy I asked said I needed to set up my synth (KORG M1) to respond to all 16 MIDI channels, and my question is: how do I do that?

You need to read the manual and look for "MultiTimbral" mode or "PERFORMANCE" mode. The likelyhood is, is your trying to multitrack within a voice mode. This means that the synth is going to play one sound at a time and more than likely on CH1.

In performance (multitimbral mode) you have parts. Each part is a voice on it's own with it's own adjustable Midi Channel, effects etc (depending on the machine).

The general drift is, if you have say, 4 synth sounds (parts) in performance mode and you have each sound set to a different midi channel (1-4 in this case) then you could potentially send via midi, a song in a sequencer that has four different tracks each with their midi channel outputs set to the corresponding part on the synth, then they will play independently, get the idea??? Try "Importing" a midi file into the computer sequencer and observe the different instruments. Check each instruments Midi Channel Output and select a suitable sound on the M1 in performance mode and make sure that part uses the same Midi Channel. Continue through the instruments and then press play. If you have the output of you M1 plugged into a record enabled Audio track on your sequencer, you should be able to hear the result.

I don't have an M1 so I can give you specifics for the machine. Hope this helps!

ýf you want to use soundfont2 fýrstly you need sound cart wých tape ýnstallabel sf2 sound on card
and than select mýdý channel (mýdý out) from the sound card on cubase. and press the buttom on mýdý keyboard. could you lýsten sound of sf2

Chicken Systems Translator (75$) can convert soundfonts to other formats. If you are such an expert, no doubt you have Gigasampler, like I do. Just convert the Soundfonts to .GIG files with Translator, and you're set. Run them with Gigasampler.

Or you can use the following VSTis:

You can't remove the filter on Napster. The central server that Napster uses to list all the available files is beyond your control.

Help With Morpheus

I downloaded 'Morpheus and I downloaded 5 songs and a video. The next day, I've thought of at least 3 more songs I want to download, but I can't. SEARCH and TRAFFIC are blocked out. So I can't get anymore songs. And the start is also messed, Its on the page that says you can't access this website, and I WANT TO DOWNLOAD MY SONGS!!

Animated keyboard

Start with Yahoo or AltaVista. I've used them in the past with some success. Just remember to put the entire lyrics in "" so that the search is carried out on the lyric and not each individual word.

I don't think there are sites which hold lyrics to a large number of songs, as it would take up a fair amount of space.

Getting clicks/blips when exporting audio from Sonic Foundry ACI

Well, I arranged a nice song in ACID Pro 3.0
When I export/render it, I get somewhat random
blips and clicks. It's possibly related to
latency issues when loading samples/files...

Music Time by Passport

I have recently tried to install MusicTime by Passport onto my new system. I am running Windows 2000 pro. I have a secured intra-lan network system in my home and everything else is working fine. Imagine my suprise when the pop up error generated was "WARNING! Installation is not complete. Press 'CONTINUE' to finish the installation or 'EXIT' to abort. If you 'EXIT' at this point, MusicTime will NOT be installed."

So I proceeded with 'CONINUE'. Take a wild guess at what pop up notice appeared: " This appears to be an ILLEGAL copy of MusicTime. INSTALLATION ABORTED!" I can vouch for the fact tha this is the CD I purchased 4 years ago. Is this a normal circumstance with this product and why all of a sudden is the copy I puchased from the company now an ILLEGAL COPY? It now does not work on my Windows 98 or NT4.0 systems as well.

Logic Audio 4.7 24 Trks Audio using Direct in/out with an 882

Hi, i hope someone can help me,i am running Logic Audio 4.7 on a Mac G3 233 Mhz, with 328 meg memory.I also have a Digidesign 882 Audio card for Pro Tools 5 TDM.
My problem is for some sessions i need to have more than 16 tracks of Audio when i run Logic Audio, and i want to process my Audio with the Vst Plug ins.I set up Logic to use Direct in and out to give more Audio Trks but when i start the song i get the message "Audio Engine unable to process Audio Direct in/out System overload" I am only trying to get 24 Trks of Audio,can anyone help please,

It sounds like you have pushed you computer to the limit. The thing to do is open the "Audio Performance" window and see whether the computer is straining with the processing, disk access or both...

24tracks is a lot to ask of older HD and using plugins and softsynths wont help the situation. You should try bouncing some of the tracks to limit the amount of work the HD has to do. Also, if the processor is straining, you should 'Record' the softsynths instead of expecting the processor to run the synth in real time.

If it's the HD that is the main problem, you could consider a Ultra SCSI or look into ATA66 PCI cards and install a fast EIDE HD like the IBM Deskstar range.

Audio Logic System Overload

Hi Guys!
I got a problem with my Logic Audio System:

I got a 1GHz Processor with 256 MB RAM, I'm using Logic Audio 4.5, but the problem also exists in diffrent versions.
If I play a song with more like about 4 tracks an error message occurs and says:
ASIo / PC AV System Overload
I'm using direct X 8.0a.

It's unlikely that your system can only run 4 tracks although I have seen some pretty high Khz processors being sold within some crappy architecture, did you get a good machine other than considering the processor clock speed?

If you are using an ASIO driver, then I assume it's because Logic isn't supporting your Sound/Audio card. I would check the driver and make sure that you have the latest version of the driver and be sure you have the right one for the job. Manufacturers sites are favourites for new drivers... Other than that, good luck..!

Midisoft Studio 6 problem

I am using Midisoft studio 6. Please forgive my ignorance as I bought this software from a friend and am a little confused. I am trying to figure out how to get midisoft to record the notes that are played in the treble to be recorded in the treble cleff and the notes in the bass cleft to be recorded in the bass cleft. As it is now I am getting it all in teh treble cleft and obviousley the notes are not placed properly. It keeps wanting to add tracks and all I want it to do at this point is to record the notes I play in the bass and treble cleft. Any help would be appreciated........kjm@charter.net........

I have been using Midisoft Studio for about 2 years now. I am happy with what it does. I use it to write and play back music which I've entered with the mouse.
Recently I purchased a new computer (Sony VAIO). I transfered all the music files off my old hard drive to my new computer. The system was working fine until I lost my fonts. I tried to load my fonts onto the new computer then my music files turned to large grey bands. Now I have part of the program back and I can write music again. However all my files (some four hundred pages) are gone. I can draw up the names, but can't access the music.
What went wrong?
