You got the right type of sampler for a start !
You will need a program called recycle for chopping up the beats/vocals this is easy to use but so powerfull a scsi interface with sampler and pc will help to speed up the transfer process

I did a megamix that lasts for five and a half minutes which took me three years to construct !!!

: I am a talented DJ, but relatively new to PC music and would like to create a professional megamix. I have only a basic understanding of how some music software operates, and so am consequently stumbling along. I am looking for a step-by-step "best practice" tutorial, with tips and tricks on this topic, advice on what software to purchase to suit my requirements, time saving practices, etc. My hardware consists of: Yamaha A3000 sampler, Pioneer DJM600 mixer, 2 Technics SL1200 turntables, Evolution mk149 midi keyboard, PC, and the basics. Please help, any advice would be greatly appreciated
If you ever listen to those mix cds (like the ministry ones) all the mixing is perfect. This is 'cause they didn't do it with a pair of turntables but a computer. You need some audio recording and multitracking software like Cubase VST (or the cheaper/free Cubasis) or Cool Edit Pro. Oh, and just one tuntable. Record your first tune into the computer in VST of CoolEdit. Get your next record and spend all day if you like getting the pitches perfectly matched. Then record that tune separately. In you audio editor, import both tunes onto different Tracks. You can the place one tune over the other, exactly where you want it. You can also chop out bits of the tunes and place them in different places, making the listener go 'how did he do that?'! You can also use the native effects and EQing in your audio editor to do exactly what you want. You can also specify crossfades and volume changes. After buggering around for a few days you will have created the perfect mix to sent to Pete Pongs Bedroom Bedlam competitions and blag your Radio slot!
Sorry I didn't go into much detail but its difficult without knowing what software you will be using. Like I say though, get hold of Cubase or one of the other big name qequncers like Cakewalk or Logic. there are demo verions available on this site.
Oh, and don't forget, it 4 beats in a bar!!

Sorry but i dont dig that for 1 sec.I am a dj and a bloody good one at that and i always used to say to my mate(now dead) that when you do a tape or cd nowadays,theres always something your not happy with.Like its nlot perfect in certain places.Thing is a good dj perfects his mixes.Works at it and enjoys the buzz finding the correct mix .Well after 10 years i have got to that status.1-3 minute mixes of pure perfection.Only gained through experience and the will to do it.And at the end of the day ,all with 2 technics 1210s,no computers,etc.The likes of a true DJ can keep beats matched all day long.A feel for the technics is the answer.I understand your statement on perfection of a mix by usingt a pc .It would be spot on,but a talented dj will pull this off 99%.I dont listen to many ministry cds etc, but from what i have listened to , they are done on 1210s.~Some mixes are shabby.Not that there out of time but because of the blending.Im sure using a pc they would be blended perfectly.When using a pair of decks, you can feel when a record is just gonna go on you,and this creates bad blending.

P.S why can pete tong etc sell there cds and yet i feel like i am btreakin the law.

Why the hell would something you recorded from your VIDEO recorder be stored in WAV format? Wav is audio only..

Need Expert Help!! How to improve the quality of wav file
There are many 're-mastering' or '240-bit' version of old CD appear in the market, I have bought some of them and compared with the old ones - I find that both details and bass have been improved.
From this inspiration, is there any computer software which can upsampling ordinary 16/44 CD wav file to 24/96 quality? I know there are already some softwares able to do the same like Samplitude 24/96, however, the upgraded wav file can only be listened within the program - Is there any other means to make those upgrade files burning in a CDR and listen in ordinary CD player.

Ordinary CD players can only play back a track sampled at 44.1khz and nothing else, so even if you do manage to upsample your track to 96khz using one of those programs you cannot burn an audio CD from it. Also i doubt that your quality improves at all by upsampling it as the degradation that occured by sampling it originally at 44khz cannot be recovered by resampling it using 96khz. The original analogue instruments would have to have been recorded at 96khz. Hope i am not talking shit, anyone else agree?

recording live streaming real audio
Does anyone know of a way to save live real audio to disk, as real player will not do this.

I need to record some sounds on cassette and convert them to digital for playback through mac director. The quality does not have to be perfect. Can I plug an old cassette player into my sound card? will I need any special programs to convert the sounds to digital? or will microsofts sound recorder work?

You can plug into the sound card. If i were you I'd use an audio editor such as <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/cgi/rd/MS_syntrillium/rd.pl/?http://www.syntrillium.com/en/index.html?x=3&go=6^^MS_syntrillium">Cool Edit 2000</a> to do the job. I just want to download sequenced songs, plug in my guitar and go for it.{got surround sound ....sblive platinum....reason....cubasis...don't know how to use them or read the manuals though.....would difinately appreciate a reply..thanks

mac 2ci and midi
High;
I have a Mac 2ci (sys 7.1) with an Emagic Log2 midi interface. I have the midi interface connected to my modem port with a Prophet 2002 on the other end. (I don't have much experience with Macs at all so please bear with me.) I have installed Max, Alchemy and Vision 1.2. (I have my reasons for being interested in all of this 'old stuff'). Anyway, when i try to transmit samples from the 2002 to the Mac via sds, the midi in light on the Mac's midi interface lights up as if everything is fine but when the transfer is over no sample in the edit window of Alchemy. Same thing when i use a midi monitor to monitor activity at the Mac's midi port. Plenty of activity but no music. Also, when i try to play a sequence or transmit note on info from the Mac, the out light flashes once and then the midi interface shuts down (the status light goes out and doesn't come on again until i 'reset' the interface in the programm's preferences).
What's going on here? Could this be because i need to install OMS? Doesn't vision automatically install OMS when it's installed? Does Max? If i need OMS, is the latest version of OMS compatible with sys 7.1? Hope someone out there can help me with this.

A: score yourself a copy of Sound on Sound or Future music magazines. In the back they have a section for various books and vidoe manuals, not too procey either I think.
B: theres loads on the internet. Just search for midi files. Often, as well, I've seena gug flogging cds of 20,000(!) midi files on QXL.com for 25 quid or so.
C: Get some sound to midi software (to be found on this site). It basically records audio and caqn turn it into midi notes. I don't know though if it can work with polyphonic sounds though.

Find out duplicate songs before burn
Duplicate files manager could find out files with same content and make them as a group!
Many other utilities maybe find out files with file name or file size, but Duplicate files manager
go further, it could find out files with same content with high speed, that it what you want , right ?

Problems with Sony Spressa
I am having major problems with the Sony Spressa CRX100E/X2. Everytime I try to create a music CD, the burning fails and sometimes crashes the computer. After an unsuccessful attempt, I check the disk drives in My Computer and notice that the CDRW drive doesnt exist. Sony was not any help. Does anyone know what the problem is and how i can solve it? any help is GREATLY Apreciated.

As an current user of the freaky CRX100E, who had ruined tonnes of cd back in '99, my recommendation and only solution is to get urself a copy of Adaptec Easy CD creator, its far superior than the bundled ware. i have a successful rate of 100% after switching to it. Since, I was having 0%.

write speed. I ruined a ton of blank cd's before
I saw someone buying one at CompUSA and I told
him my problem and he said he had one already and
the trick is to burn at the slower speed. I tried
it and it worked. If you've got the time and
the patience, it works just fine.
