You'll find a free download for the Mac and Atari versions of 'Objectmover'
on Youngchang's ftp site. This is a librarian program that also recreates the
front panel of the PX1000 so you don'y have to go grovelling onthe floor in front of it.
If you're a PC user, there's an editor called Kurle which runs under DOS3.1 (will also work under Windows)
that is available as a demo free download from At Work Software.
try www.synthzone.com, click on Kurzweil, and you'll find the links to all of these sites there.

SB16 and Windows 98

Hi

Just been putting a machine together for a friend with a SB16 Value (ISA) and Win 98SE. Win 98 refuses to find the SoundBlaster and only finds an Adlib Gold compatible card. The card clearly states Creative Labs SB16 Value. I don't have the original driver disk, could this be the problem?

Hi, all, a couple of days before, I have searched Internet to look for some tools that could do the following work:

1) First of all, FREE.
2) Convert RealAudio (.ra) file to .wav file.
3) Extract audio part from RealVideo (.rm) file to .wav file.
4) Furthermore, convert RealAudio file (as well as audio part from RealVideo file) to another format, such as, Mp3.
5) And, I could list more format if I like, such as: SUN .au files, CD-R data (music CD format), Sound Blaster .VOC files, Apple/SGI AIFF files
6) Other feature should include “Platform independent”, say, not only run on Windows, but Linux, and other platforms.

Frankly, the result is not satisfying, so I decide to write some tools myself, and share with you, and all of those are completely free (or if you like give me money, I would not refuse that, aha!).

I will put that program to somewhere free, and will upgrade that according to feedbacks from you.

I name that software as ra2any, means converting RealAudio to anything.

So, do you think it is beneficial to all of you? Or do you have another name that seems cooler? Or do you know where is the best home page for that project?

Using Pro Tools in conjunction with Soundblaster Live

Hi,

I recently got Pro Tools Free from Digidesign, and I could use some tips on how to accomplish a couple of things:

(1) When trying to record audio (guitar plugged into my livedrive), my guitar drowns out the MIDI drum track... even if I turn the MIDI all the way up. Is there any way to boost the volume on the drum track and lower the volume of the guitar, WITHOUT actually lowering the volume at which the guitar is recorded? I hope my question is clear... let me know if you need clarification.

(2) I'd like to be able to use some of the effects from the SB Surround Mixer on my guitar (e.g. add reverb). Is there anyway to add reverb to the line signal while keeping everything else untouched (i.e. so my drums and other tracks aren't all affected while I'm recording the guitar track).

you need the APS drivers for sblive (audio production studio) this will allow you to fully utilize the emu processor in the live card you might have to some searching for the sight but don't give up it's a learning curve but well worth it

Recording in WMA format

I record a lot of programs from the radio. I usually record to wav then convert to wma. Is there a way to record directly to wma without the skipping and jumping? I've tried Musicmatch but it skips terribly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm messing about with Data Becker's "Music Centre", and I want to use more effects than those supplied. However, the manual tells me I must use effects with a .qsp extension. Can anyone tell me where I can come by effects of this type-If at all. Many thanks, Tom.

Your local computer store will give you the best advice for this. You will not find many CD Writers require 166 Pentium system minimum.. and most new models are designed for Windows 98 and above. If your system has USB support, look for a CD Writer with the same - it will make life easier with an external CD Writer.

Texterror in Sibelius

When i change or add a text (lyrics, title, instruments, whatever) in Sibelius (ver. 1.105) a strange f0fs21 appears before the text. I can't get rid of it. Does anybody know what to do about it?

Hi Ed,
Yes I've got the same problem and i've been told it's because i'm using windows XP. Apparently Versions of Sibelius below 1.4 can have this problem with windows XP/2000 and office (maybe some others). The solution is to upgrade to to Sibelius 1.4 (or above) the only place i've found to do this at Sibs. web site. Unfortunately if you're not a member (which I am not!) you can't download!!
I hope this is of some help. If you find out anywhere else you can update please let me know.Jason

Hi I recently got a full version of cool edit and was happily recording away, when I left and returned to do some more the there was no input from my guitar being recorded, the sound was there but no signal being recorded....I reinstalled the drivers, checked evrything in the control panel and still nothing ??? I would really appreciate if someone could help me out I was havin such a cool time !!

Computer Dropout

I have Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 and everytime I try to put all midi tracks into a stereo track it plays for a couple of seconds then it says dropout on the bottom screen and I wanted to know if there was a solution to this problem.

Roland UPM Manager for Windows

After expanding the download I cannot find an icon or program listing that would indicate that the program is actually loaded or can be opened. I have tried several times without success. Does anyone have a suggestion? The operating system is Windows 98.

Audiophile 2496 & SB Live together -problems

I added the Audiophile 2496 - soundcard to my system but don't want to plug
out my old SB Live, 'cause a lot of my Cubase-songs use Soundfonts on the Wavetable of the SB Live.
Now I have massive problems using MIDI at all. My keyboard is connected to the MIDI-In
of the Audiophile card (mostly because of ASIO-support - is that right?), and I can't
find a way to control the wavetable of SB LIve via this Keyboard. Guess it's got something to do
with MIDI-routings, but I've got NO BLOODY IDEA of how to do it properly.
There are even more problems; CD-Player doesn't play, some wave sounds (like the 'bing' at
volume-control) sound cracky (?), I can't use MIC or LINE IN of SB Live, volume control doesn't
control the volume,...
Any suggestions, or do you know a place where I can find tutorials or forums for these problems???

I have been wanting to burn songs onto cd's too.
I'm not sure how to do it either, i cant even find no

Dont worry about confusion. There are a lot of programs out there that will take away the brainstrain. <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/Nero_win32/">Nero</a> is probably the best. <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/TuneSpark/">TuneSpark</a> is great for MP3 burning.
