I've been trying to contact Nero to downlaod the upgrade available free for Nero version 5. The wbsite comes up as "cannot be viewed" and their UK phone number has a recorded "unavailable" announcement.
I'd be very grateful to know whether this is a permanent or temporay problem, and if it is permanent, whether the upgrade is available elsewhere.

Turning a blank CDR into a CDR AUDIO

I heard this is possible by initialising a audio CDR and when this is done simply replacing this CD by a non audio CDR.
Doesn´t work with me; with replacing CD´s the machine starts initialising again. Does anyone know a sollution ??

the method of just replacing the discs must be a mythe, its never worked for me either, you need the code embedded in the start of the disc, one cunning way is look at a cdr thats audio enabled , you will see a ring you need to cut round the edge and make a mini disc then place this under your blank and it should then read the code and initialise your discs.
will it work ???? not treied it yet . anyone let me know if they do and get it to work

Hi,
A video I took using a camcorder has alot of audio distoration. (It was a wedding where there was alot of echo in the church). I am interested in using some kind of SW to remove the audio distorations.
So far, I have used Dazzle video creator to digitize teh video & put in on my PC (in mpg format). Now, I'm looking for SW that can address the audio problems. So far, all of the SW I've seen (audio editors) will only work with straight audio files (eg .wav).

Does anyone know of a SW package that can help me with this problem?

Hi in mi dxdiag box for directx8 in the DISPLAY panel it says:The file: i81xdw9x.drv is uncertified it has not been tested by microsofts windows hardware quality labs. Turning a blank cd-r into a recordable audio cd

Does anyone know of any software that I can use to convert a blank cd-r to make it record on a standalone audio cd recorder ? The problem is that a cd-da will not play on a PC and a cd-r cannot be initialised on a standalone. I'd like to use just the one type (cd-r) on both standalone and PC.

Cakewalk Express Gold and Soundfonts on SBLive

I have a problem when I start Cakewalk Express Gold, the version that came with my SBLive. It clears out my Soundfont banks! I have to reload them after I start the program. Does anyone know why this is or how to fix it? Please send replies to my email as I'll forget to check this board again. Thanks!

SBlive are bastards i didnt even get calkwalk gold with my stupid sblive card
THOUGH IT SAID ON THE BOX it was supposed to be there
the cd was missing
SUCKS

It clears out your soundfonts because your supposed to load them with your sequence
Then itll save what soundfonts you use for that
sequence and next time you open it youll have the soundfonts you used before

dont use calkwalk if you just listen to midis

DAT to CD on the computer

I'm trying to record from DAT direclly to the CD-R on my computer so the disk can be played on normal CD players.

Can this be done with a direct digital connection? How? I have a midi connector, and a normal line-in connector on my sound card, but no digital-in.

The alternative is to send an analog signal from the DAT to the input on the sound card, record a long .wav file and run it thorugh a ripper to split the file into separate tracks.

Any help you can offer is appreciated.

Winamp will not play mp3 files

Hello all,
I hope someone can help with this.
I've copied mp3 files from a win98 machine to a NT 4.0 machine running service pack 5. I just recently installed a sound card to the NT system and downloaded the most recent version of Winamp (version 2.75). Upon trying to play mp3 file, I get no sound from speakers and mp3 file seems to run fast/slow in Winamp. Kinda jerky. I am able to play a CD from CDROM drive with no problem, yet any windows wav files will not play. I've also ripped a mp3 from a CD to try and see if that would work but it didn't. I'd apprieciate any help.
Let me know if any details are missing.

for this. I've looked at the bitheadz stuff, but the clock
seems like a toy more than a professional tool, I've looked at
MOTU for Dig. Perf., that looks good, but I really want to
find a drum machine app. that has a good clocl, easy interface, EFX., export to
.aiff MP3 etc.. any one can help??

Sequencing a Software synth

I am using cakewalk and a nice midi compatable software synth both in the same computer. I can play the softsynth using my keyboard no problem. Is there a program that will allow me to sequence the softsynth from Cakewalk if both the synth and sequencer are in the same machine ?

make sure your synth is loaded as a midi device
in your system settings / multimedia

then it will show up under settings / midi device
in calkwalk

Okay. Tried to set it up but no dice. I am using NI's Soundforum Synth with Cakewalk proaudio 8 and am using Windows 98. I have been unable to get my computer to recognise the soundforum synth as a midi device. It wont load it. This is a great synth and I really would like to sequence this sucker. Could anyone give me a step by step on how to set this thing up ? I know I must be doing something wrong.

i just installed it an it worked well with cake walk 9(same principle)
first install a utility calle hubi loopback device it's free ojn the net, install it as a hard ware throu 'control panel', 'add hardware'.
then in cake walk midi device choose LB1(or any) and in the synth's midi settings choose LB1 in inport

Soundforum Synth

The thing with soundforum synth is that it's
freeware.. but the catch is that it will only
run as a standalone app. So you can't use it
with midi. If you want to use this technology
as a midi-synth then you'll have to buy one
of the commercial NI softsynths.

easycd creator problem

I have used easycd creator4.02 to burn cd's over the past 9 months without any problems. Just recently I have had some worries with it in that when I load a blank cd into the burner rather than kick off my easy cd program the burner starts my mp3 player, winamp, and if I start easycd manually it reports that there is an audio cd in the burner. this is happening with blanks that are straight from their wrapping. If I load up the program and request a burn it still works. I have reloaded the burner drivers, the easycd software and removed winamp only to have it start microsofts cd player. does anybody have any clues why this is happening?
any help would be appreciated.

Plug the cassette player (or your stereo) into the back of your soundcard. Then use an audio editor. Hot play on the tape machine and record on the audio editor. Works fine!
