VS-840

I am trying to figure out a way to convert my music from Zip to hard drive on my PC Is it possible or do I need to buy a new workstation? Please Help!

The way I used to back up my VS880 was just connecting an old scsi hard drive to it and copying all the songs to that. Then you can hook that up to your PC and burn a CD. This is not an audio cd but just contains all the song data, ie the cheapest way of storage.

rebirth to acid pro?

Symphonic Metal - PC

I am a musician, and i'm working on my first solo project. I write my own songs, and i'm making an album using just my computer and some software. The music style is symphonic metal, with some influences of pop,
industrial and gothic music. If anyone is interested in this, or you would like to promote this project, just go to http://www.painkiller-r.net there you'll
find enough info about this. Thanks.

can't use directx on wavelab! help me!!!!

when i try toi use autotune or other directx plugs in on wavelab i receive this message " error reported by plug in cfx 2 - band eq: cannot connect the direct x plug in. The reason could be that the audio stream, at the plug in input, does not provide the required number of channels" What can i do?? Pleas help me! i'm trying to use the limited edition of auto tune and i have still used 3 of the 20 day without era a sound!!
Thank you

Re: can't use directx on wavelab! help me!!!!

There is an alternative method that you might want to try. Sometimes, it won't work either way. I think that you are trying to do too much simultaneously and it is bogging down your system. If you're like me, I try to just overload the system because I get in a hurry and get the song done and ripped. My suggestion is to lay two or three tracks down and see if you still have that problem. If it still doesn't work, then try doing just one and see if it works...if it doesn't, then maybe your software needs updating.

MY FRIEND:

I'VE GOT EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM WITH WAVELAB. EVEN I TRIED UPGRADE DIRECT X, WAVELAB 3.0 TO 3.0C, ETC...
PLEASE UPDATE ME WHEN YOU OR SOMEONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT.
THANKS A BUNCH!

Re: can't use directx on wavelab! help me!!!!

well... the problem is the number of channels.
if you are using a stereo file, try converting it
to mono. if you're using a mono file, convert it
to stereo. that's it.

Re: Midi to Wav Conversion

I found a simple way to record midi files into
wave. If you have a sound blaster live!, and
cakewalk, you can make it.

Just select Midi as the recording devide in
the sound blaster mixer. then, in cakewalk, open
the midi file you want to convert. create an audio
track, and set it on record mode. start recording,
and all the midi events will be recorded as one
wave file.

I have cakewalk 8.04, and this worked really fine.
I hope this may help you. If you have any other
question, just ask me :)

thank you and goodbye.

If you think you're good, record a demo tape and send it to one of the record companies. Otherwise, put some of your work on the Internet in MP3 format and see what response you get.

the 'what you hear' device... it didn't worked.
Well, it only recored about a second of the songs,
and it can be heard only by turning on the speakers

You'll see... I'm a composer, and I've been working
with midi for some months... now I want to make a cd,
but I can't pay for a big studio, neither for an
orhesta, so I thought of recording midi files...
but it seems I can't... please, I need some help!!!

bring out the vocals

Hi
Since there's software/plug-ins to "remove vocals", it makes you wish there was something out there to help you do the opposite?
In other words; Eliminate most of the background music, to bring a nice vocal-line up front, in a sample. Or do you have to work that eq..?

Any thought most wanted

Sound card help

Can someone please advise the best sound card for me to use with a Cyrix 333Mz PC with 128 Meg Ram 10 gB hard disk running Cubase 3.5 VST. The one I have came supplied with the PC and I cannot get it to record audio or even accept any as input. I am also having a problem with my MIDI setup. Any song I record via midi plays ok for the first minute and a half then the tempo starts to slow down till eventually it stops and starts.

You car'nt go wrong with the sound blaster live,it's a good value sound card with execlent audio quality great midi functions and is also a sampler, the 1024 player is about 70 pounds.
As for your tempo problem car'nt help sorry!
But if you have registed your copy of vst 3.5 you can get an update to vst 3.7 for free from the steinberg website, and this might sort out your problem. GOOD LUCK!!!

You may need it, 3.5 VST doesn't have ASIO support for the Sound Blaster Live, at least, I CAN'T (short for can not, the ' substitutes for the missing "o") find any and Creative are offer no help on this. :-)

I need to improve the accuracy of my singing. I would like to be able to get the computer to play a short sequence of notes which I could sing back and record and then compare the accuracy of what I sung to what the computer played. All you need is a sequencer a very cheap one will do. go to your local pc world you can pick up one for about 30 quid one of the magix range is perfect make sure it has the word sequencer on the box!!.
then all you do is open up the piano roll editer input the notes with the mouse plug in your mic select an audio track ,press rec,you will here the notes being played back, sing along to the notes press stop. Now when you play back the track you will here your voice and the notes you input with the mouse playing at the same time .Hope this helps
GOOD LUCK!!!

Chord finder from WAV-files or other music files

Hi,
does anybody know a program that reads chords, harmonies or notes from wave-files or other music-files? I owned such a cute program five or six years ago but lost it.
Christian

Re: Chord finder from WAV-files or other music files

well... there is this prgram called 'Transcribe!'
that analizes a section of the wave file, and it
tells you what notes are on the section. You only
have to select an specific part, and it tells you
what notes are in there. then you can figure out
what chords they're using in there. The program
is not a wonder, but it may help you a little.

I think I found it on www.download.com

If it isn't there, well, you have the name
of the program to do your own search.

Analyze music solos

Hello: Can anyone tell if there is a program that will allow me to take a musical solo of a record and play it back without changing the pitch.
thank you,
Peter.

Re: Analyze music solos

I made such software ...
It is "MUSIC ANALYZER" and you can get from below URL :
www.oka.nu/music_analyzer/index.html
home.att.ne.jp/yellow/oka/music_analyzer/index.html

I am glad if you like it...

Re: Analyze music solos

um... you can try with Logic Audio... that
program is very good for that kind of recordings.

Quality, simple Wav editing S/W? Reccomendations?

Hello all,
I require ROBUST software that will perform simple editing functions on a *.wav file. I simply want to take one long wave file ( a live concert) and
be able to edit out sections (talking, applause), then split it into tracks. I have been using ToGo! which does exactly what I want but crashes every time I try to save the edited file as a project. ToGo! simply displays the waveform and you can see the breaks betwen songs and then zoom in on them and play a short section you have zoomed on to see if you do indeed want to edit it out. You can then insert 2 sec silences , then later hit the 'Tracks' button which will
find the silences and insert tracks there. Is there any ROBUST software that will do all this (and maybe more) and NOT crash after I have spent half an hour editing? Thanks, Bernie.
