Cubase VST corrupting

Hi. i’m experiencing a few problems using cubase VST 5 on PC.
I use a P3 450, VIA chipset, 196ram, SBlive.
I can’t work out if its just cubase, drivers or hardware?

1) after working on a song for a while it won’t allow me to open the mixer window!!!
nothing pops up when i try to open it?

2) sometimes timestrecth does nothing - a window flashes up for a split second then dissapears

3) sometimes i get nasty noises coming from the souncard - like a long scrath sound complete with echo!!! (only when in cubase)

4) only occasionaly the audio playback is very, very jumpy - it will play back fine from cool edit.

i do sometimes switch the driver from direct X to MME - surely this shouldn’t corrupt a file?

i’m happy to get a new soundcard as i need to upgrade - could this cure it?

i didn’t have this problem with 3.7 - although since then i have reinstalled most software - so it could be a conflict.

Any help welcome as it is f***kin irritating - having to copy the arrangement into a new song and set the effects up again just to be able to get into the mixer!

Adaptec Toast Questions

I am a total computer retard and I need some help. I apologize in advance if these questions have already been asked.

I bought a iomega 650 burner, which includes Adaptec 4.0. Is this different from the Deluxe 4.0?

I can't figure out how to burn mp3s onto a CD. I've looked in the instruction manuals, but didn't find much help. I tried the whole dragging the file thing, but it doesn't recognize mp3s as a sound file. Is there a step inbetween that I don't know about? If so, what do I do? Or is there more software that I need?

This might sound nit-picky, but...
let me give you an example...
I have saved some "Sibelius" files (this is a score writing music program) using the 'write session' so I could add more later. Today I went back and added a few, after I added them I also clicked the 'write session" cause I want to add more in the future. Now two Icons appear for the same CDrom on my desktop. Can someone tell me why that happens, and how to fix it. I don't want to keep saving files and have thirty different icons for the same CD in the future.
Please help.

you should convert your mp3 to a wave first....

I bought the new iBOOK with OS9.1 pre-installed and itunes pre-loaded. I also have the adaptec Toast 4.1 from the Yamaha CRW8824.

Can I install this adaptec toast 4.1 without conflict with the itunes???

Skipping and stuttering when recording/rec error message

When ever I record more than one track or record a track that is more than eight bars long, I get the recording error message. And when I play recorded tracks they often skip ant stutter. Please help me .

sonic foundry ACID automatically does that for you. i use TIME/COMPRESS/EXPAND in sound forge cos i enjoy the punishment....

My Desktop Sheet Music program wont let me use the Roland MPU-401 standard and The Properties functions internal to the program are not functioning, 2 years ago when I had this problem Midisoft sent me a small Windows program to fix it, can anyone help me find the missing program?

type NAPSTER in your search engine, then follow the instructions how to install. you can then download music from other users libraries and they can also download music from yours. just dont try and download METALICA or DR DRE or youll automatically be banned!
