Re: how do you mix music?
: I was wondering if there is a program where you can take the background music from one song and the words from another and mix them. Please reply
In your mommy's wet pussy, which she let lick for money GAY
Re: how do you mix music?
if you have them as a instramental and a vocal track to begin with u can use any program, but if your looking to get rid of background music or vocals in a song , nope.

new mac g4 vs dual processor mac g4
Hello-
I am putting together my first daw. I plan to use a motu 1224/motu midi express/ digital performer 2.72.
My question is I am uncertain as to what may be a better machine, The new g4's (with 4 pci slots 133 mgz backside....), or the dual processor ones (500 mgz/100 mgz backside)....?
Re: new mac g4 vs dual processor mac g4
dp 3.0 will support both altivec and mp.
Its worth noting that the 733 g4 as actually a totally redesigned cpu unlike the 466 or 533.
This 733mhz g4 will have 4 altivec processers on it whereas all current models have one per cpu.
Both cubase and logic support mp. In 3.0 so will digital performer.

Re: new mac g4 vs dual processor mac g4
It's hard to say in a way as most of the packages available at the moment don't specifically support dual processing. I doubt digital performer will be among the first to add support for that beast although I am prepared to be proven wrong. It IS worth finding out whether your sequencer is supporting the Velocity Engine in the G4 as that made a world of difference to my running of Logic Audio on my G4/400. MacOsX is fully supportive of the dual processors which will make a difference to everyday life on a dual G4 Mac and it's only a couple of months away...!
If a program is fully supportive of the dual processors then I suspect that it will be quite a hum dinger although you may find that the 133mhz buss and the additional PCI slot is more helpful in the long run. My G4 is amazing as a Music studio and it's the bottom of the line essentially. You should be more than happy with either machine...!

Re: how do I put sound on my webpage?
i have alot of napster files and i want some of them on there but i dont know how can yall tell me? thanks.
Re: how do I put sound on my webpage?
Hey,
It really depends on what you mean by putting 'sound' on your web-page. If you mean putting songs on there, there still isn't a good, fast way to do this. You can put your site on a server that supports .rm or realaudio files if you want streaming sound, but this is usually terrible quality and can take some time buffering.
If you simply want sounds that back up and embellish the content on your site (rollover sounds, background loops etc.) then by far the best way to do this is by learning Flash. I can fit a whole site, with sound and animation plus the flash player .exe itself on a single floppy disk- a joy in such days of ever growing filesizes.
You could also embed some midi files into your site, but this is a little haphazard because you're relying on the quality of the listeners' General Midi (GM) sounds. However, midifiles are also wonderfully small in comparison with actual sound files.
All the best.
Russell
Re: how do I put sound on my webpage?
Never mind about buying guitars from some prat selling them just put this code in your webpage
<EMBED SRC="filename.mp3" HEIGHT=60 WIDTH=140 AUTOSTART=true LOOP=2 HIDDEN=true>
Make sure the "filename.mp3" is not too big
Re: how do I put sound on my webpage?
How do u put Mp3's on to your website
Re: how do I put sound on my webpage?
: I have alot of mp3,wav,midi files and want to put them on my web pages but do not know how.. What can I do to provide sound to folks from my web page.....Thanks
Well, I simply suggest you to put link on the mp3 file (and just use mp3 file, it is the best for the net). 95% of the users have an mp3 reader on their PC (windows media player, Real Player, Quicktime, winamp...) so they can immediately read it and stream it correctly.
Real producer is expensive and really too big for your needs.
Re: how do I put sound on my webpage?
i know how to use mp3 i have it but how do i put a song on my website
how do I put a mp3 player on my web page
I have been trying to find a player to put on my webpage. I need some help finding a player and how to put it on my page.
Re: how do I put sound on my webpage?
Well using WAV files on a web page is generally a no-no as the size of the file is prohibitive.
I'd go for RealMedia as you can stream music from your own server. Download <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/cgi/htdig/htsearch.cgi?config=htdig&restrict=%2Fsmm%2Fprograms%2F&exclude=&method=and&format=builtin-long&words=realproducer">RealProducer</a>.
There's a tutorial on streaming the music <a href="http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/news/9904_106/">here</a>.
Hope this helps...
Cheers

Re: how do I put sound on my webpage?
You can embed midi files in your pages. The files are small, but the sounds are played by the visitors computer and are thus usually crap! The only other way I know is to embed "µlaw" or "suffix .au" files which have an 11 or 8khz sample rate that can be used to a certian lo-fi advantage. The html for this is: <BGSOUND SRC="yourfile.au" LOOP="99" VOLUME="99"></BGSOUND> for Internet Explorers, and <EMBED SRC="yourfile.au" AUTOSTART="TRUE" LOOP="X" CONTROLLER="FALSE"
VOLUME="X" WIDTH="0" HEIGHT="0" ALIGN="TOP"></EMBED>. These little buggers will probably give you a 4 or 8 bar loop that just repeats endlessly. But they load pretty fast, although not as fast as images. There's plenty of little freeware apps out there that can do the conversions.

Geting started
I'm trying to get back into music and want to do some recording on my PC. What is the easiest program to use? I'm only looking to do some basic stuff to get my feet wet. I'm looking for eight tracks and some basic effects like compression, reverb delay and precussion (drum machine). I'm a bass player. I have Soudblaster Live value. Should I upgrade to the full version of Sound Blaster Live? Any help would be much appreciated.

yep...
N-tracks will give you a lot to begin with. Its cheap and will get the job done.Try that first before you get into the expensive stuff that I reccomended.

Re: Geting started 101
well,
this all would depend on your budget...
for midi theres cakewalk, logic audio, and cubase. Each of these also have somewhat adequarte audio implementation.
For audio theres nuendo, pro tools, cool edit, ntracks, vegas, and a few others.
all these are software except pro tools wich comes in a software/ hardware package.
A good place to start is the free pro tools-
www.digidesign.com
it has 8 tracks and should work with your soundcard. Its free and has real time effects.
As for all these softs those are the names so now its on you to check them out. Also n-tracks is really cheap and cool edits kinda cool. In fact all these programs have their strengths.
As for your soundcard- SOUNDBLASTERS SUCK!!!- sorry to be so blunt but its the truth.
for $300 or less you can do much better(midiman delta 66, egosys wave terminal).Sure the soundfonts are nifty but the audio quality is LACKING
and you also need a microphone pre amp-
check out the pre sonus blue tube, or m-audio's mic pre.
and you need a mic-
Maybe an sm-57 but a considerable step up would be a rode nt 1 or even better an audio technica at4033.
Check out cakewalk or cubase, both are easy to use and have drum machine plug ins available. If you get serious about audio editing check out vegas or cool edit pro. For mastering theres soundforge, t-racks, and wavelab.
the best midi ever is found with logic audio wich I highly reccomend. More pros use that than any other app this side of pro tools because its a complete program and its solid.
It also happens to have a steep learning curve.Do some research on it, if you think you can handle it its the way to go. If you want ease of use go with cakewalk.
On pc cubase is buggy. cakewalk is more stable and easiest to use but isnt as comprehensive.Logic is the most flexible as you actually create its environments. You may want cakewalk or cubase.or even vegas.
for plug in efrfects the stuff by waves is good but there are also lots of free plug ins for vst and direct x.
since reverbs eat cpu youll want to get a reverb box. Lexicon is the only way to go. Instead of the mpx 100 id reccomend finding a used lxp 5.
For drums theres a lot around check out orion at
www.sonic-syndicate.com
also for looping and all aoround usefulness is sonic foundry's acid

WINJAMMER PRO 5.06-- finding it.....can you help?
Hello,
I've been wanting Winjammer pro 5.06 for like a year now, but the web site hasn't been updated since 98, the support EMAIL NEVER writes back ( i've written 6 so far) and the phone number connects you with an inept sounding guy who seems to never have heard of winjammer. Im looking for it for the Drum Sequencer--
can anyone share or suggest other MIDI drum sequencers? I have cakewalk8.0 and sequencing drum tracks seems very difficult--
pc vs mac
Who the best for record or making music
Re: pc vs mac
Mac no question. With a pro mac you get a package dedicated to professional audio and graphics output. PC's are better for database and business apps, and games, but they're all mix and match setups. For creative and media apps the mac can't be beat. It works. The Powerbooks give you portability too.
